Hamilton County commissioners are expected to elect next week to post annual discretionary spending information online, retain two judicial commissioners and give commissioners a new layer of control over just what exactly grants the county looks for.
Commissioners Marty Haynes and Joe Graham spurred the actual push to have spending studies for the commissioners' combined $900,000 every year discretionary funds posted around the county's website. And Commission Ceo Fred Skillern said Tuesday throughout an agenda session that he can expect the commission to take on the measure.
Commissioners will also come to a decision who of 14 job seekers will be the next two Judicial Commissioners, or magistrates. Commissioners will first vote to nominate candidates out of the Fourteen, then hold votes on a ballot of those nominated. With so many applicants, that could take quite a few ballots.
"We had a very good pool with applicants this time. I think it is one of the biggest pools of people we've had," Haynes stated.
Current Magistrates Jeffery Davis and Larry Ables possess reapplied for the one year posts.
A commission will also appoint any chief magistrate to serve till April 30. The current leading is Judicial Commissioner Randall Russell.
Graham proposed your resolution last week. The intention is to have county workers come to the commission before using for grants, so commissioners may be apprised what matching demands may exist. Graham says the trouble is just aimed at keeping commissioners in the loop.
But Coppinger said last week your move would "hamstring the government" and called it an undo load and an unnecessary step. He admits that the commission has last say over whether awards are accepted anyway.
"I would certainly think that you are going to hamstring the us government if you are going to require [department heads] to come and enquire of permission," Duvetica Mens (http://www.duveticamens.nu/) Coppinger said.
