State Rep. JoAnne Favors is calling for Hamilton County school mother board member Rhonda Thurman to step down over what Favors is calling Thurman's "overtly racist" remarks in the Sunday Times Cost-free Press.
Favors spoke for a news conference at the schools central office, flanked by the particular black members of the school board and county commission as well as surrounded by other black leaders, teachers and community members.
She's said she's gotten an enormous Barbour Dublin (http://www.barbourdublin.nu/) number of calls from teachers, parents and others over Thurman's assertions in the Sunday newspapers that suburban schools have been neglected while inner area schools got extra means.
In a front page quote, Thurman reported: "What do they want? I don't imagine suburban students have been taken care of fairly. Poor people learn. Slaves discovered to read. I don't know why poor people can't learn to read and write. I have a lot of poor people in my family members, but they are still expected to learn."
