ExHentai FIREFOX plugin [Get past sad panda]

I’ve made a firefox version! (Chrome version can be found here)

Click here to install the plugin, then keep reading because I’ll explain how to use it.

First thing you want to do is sign up for an account at http://forums.e-hentai.org/, the exhentai login system is based on it so you’re pretty much required to make one there. Don’t blame me.

After you have an account AND the plugin is installed, try going to exhentai, the panda will load but once it’s finished loading a login screen should come up, observe:

Slap in your login details (correctly) and you should see this:

after you press OK it will bring you to the front page where you should be logged in. That’s all, thank you for the downloads and comments and such!

USE CHROME? Try the Chrome Version

just click your top left “firefox” drop-down menu:
>add-ons
>plug-ins
>then click on the upper right icon that looks like a gear- drops down a menu-
>select “install add-on from file..”
>search for your .xmi in your downloads folder and double click

    Sad Panda on Nightly 23.0, and exhentai.org/login gives me a 404 page. reinstalled the addon, relogged in on e-hentai’s forums, cleared the cache, nothing seems to do the trick. So I guess Ill have to use Chrome till this is fixed or updated for Nightly. Which Is hopefully soon >.>

    It works like a charm if you’re using an account that wasn’t previously allowed into Exhentai, but if you want to go on “Manage Galleries” or “Upload Gallery”, it shows you a blank page that says “err”. Is there any way you can update the plugin to circumvent this? Newer users who want to upload or maintain content via Exhentai still can’t do so with this plugin.

    Guys… You don’t need a plugin to use Exhentai. Simply make an account on e-hentai. Log out of it. Delete all E-hentai cookies in your web-browser (you can delete all if you don’t mind, it’s the safest way). Log onto E-Hentai’s forum. Then just type: http://exhentai.org and the sad panda will be gone.

    It works normally, but unfortunately it doesn’t work in a Private Window on Fx v21. I assume the cookies are handled very differently in v20+ because my previous approach was to load in my ehentai session from a cookie file using Advanced Cookie Manager and that doesn’t work either in a Private Window.

    Hi, It have work till yesterday, but today, when I have open again the last session of firefox, exhentai, again, show the sad panda, and I have already install the pluin and sign on e-hentai, I have re-install the plugin , but nothing… HELP! PLEASE!

    For it to work with Firefox 21, you have to go to exhentai.org/login.

    .. Just tried it and it said it couldn’t even… what was it? Firefox cannot modify the needed file? What?
    edit: Retried opening it using firefox instead of saving it, went through, and the login screen came up. Happy days are here again.

    Installed it successfully, it shows up under add-ons, but exhentai still shows the sad panda and nothing more.

      I think there’s some issue with the site itself? I could be totally wrong since a friend of mine says he isn’t having any issues but exhentai worked fine for me early yesterday and then suddenly was just the sadpanda every other time i try and head there

    I have Firefox 17.0.1. I follow the instructions, save the file since there’s no option to install it directly, then try to manually install it by opening my add-ons manager. I get the dialogue box, find the .xpi file, and double-click it. The dialogue box closes, but then nothing happens. Nothing gets installed.

      Working with both firefox and waterfox (64bit version). Here’s how to get an install dial directly:
      -Click on the link provided to install the plugin
      -Select “Open with” -> “Browse” -> choose Firefox
      -Click “OK” then wait for the count down of the dial that should have showed up to let you click “Install”.
      -You should be good to go. You can restart your browser after installation, just in case, can’t hurt.

        Interesting. The first two steps went fine, but I never got any kind of countdown or dial or installation prompt. I got the progress bar in my download manager, and then the download finished. Nothing else happened, other than a new, blank tab opening automatically when I first clicked the link.

          My mistake: the new tab appears when I click ‘open with [Firefox]’. Another blank new tab also appears whenever I try to open the file in Firefox.

            Oh, no. Definitely not working. I just wanted to let you know about when the tab actually opens, in case that was relevant somehow.

            Strange, the tab opens then the dial shows up. Try this then, can’t hurt to try.

            -Click the link then save file.
            -Double click it and choose which program you want to pen it with, Firefox. After that it will work directly by double clicking it in the download manager.

            Hope this works.

    Strange, I now have access to exhentai. Was logged in e-hentai then I clicked on an exhentai link with little hope and BAM!

    Just thought the creator and users could be interested that it now works in France (at least new for my internet provider).

    It doesn’t work for me. I’m on Firefox 17.0.1 (most recent one), all cookies and the browser history have been deleted, but the login form still does not appear when I load exhentai.org. I can usually get in fine via a manual e-hentai login. Too bad, this seems like a convenient plugin.

      Since it seems I’m as far as I can go to access exhentai I’ll try to help you xD
      Going to exhentai.org does nothing for me either, I’ve called the link s0beit gave “the Graal” even though it does not suffice.
      -Do not go to exhentai.org, it won’t show anything if you have the same problem as me (firefox user)
      -Use the following http://exhentai.org/login it will show the login screen.

        That’s a pretty misleading thing though. Maybe it can be corrected with an update so that the plugin redirects you to that login page?

    I tried everything to create an account, but I can’t go further than the registration form. When it should say an email was sent for confirmation it does’nt work, surely because I’ve managed to get to that screen with either changing IP or passing by a proxy.

    I mailed the staff, no answer. So yeah, I don’t know how to do it :/

      Might be your email address your using.. It wouldn’t work with hotmail for me so had to make a dummy gmail account and it let me reg first shot… give that a try.

        Thanks a lot for the tip, it worked the first time I’ve tried like you said. Now the last problem I’ve encountered still resists. I’ve managed to find a working account before but it still said “failed to log in”. Thought my account could do the trick, still the same problem. I’ve tried tinkering with the cookies, no result.

        When you download it on Chrome it says it can’t install but something still pops up below.

        - Right click and select open containing folder or something like that.
        - Then go to Tools -> Extensions.
        -When you’re on this page, drag and drop the file you found in the first step inside the extension page and it will prompt you to install it.
        -Do it and you’ll be done. It is recommended to restart your browser, but the plugin will be there either way.

    Thank you so much. I tried all the deleting cookies crap and it never worked. By the way, I’m also requesting an Opera version, since that’s my primary browser. I can understand if you don’t do it though, but it would be nice.

      I was looking into Opera, but I couldn’t figure out their plugin framework. I hardly figured out Firefox’s. Chrome has the best, after all. Too bad they’re money grubbing cocks now.

    Hey guys in case others r having issues like vgm3 way at the top of the posts -

    just click your top left “firefox” drop-down menu:
    >add-ons
    >plug-ins
    >then click on the upper right icon that looks like a gear- drops down a menu-
    >select “install add-on from file..”
    >search for your .xmi in your downloads folder and double click
    >presto! its all down hill from there,,, couple of smaller steps missing but you get the point.

    Okay this is precisely what I did with no progress:

    1. Re-install Firefox v.14.0
    2. Clicked “click here to install the plugin”
    3. It gave me a download execution menu which asked me to either open the .xmi file, or save it.
    4. I saved it.
    5. I opened where it was located, and copied the .xmi file.
    6. I alt+h>t to the troubleshooting page and made my way to my computer’s “extensions” folder.
    7. I paste the .xmi file in the extensions folder.
    8. I logged on to my e-hentai username.
    9. I clicked the link above to exhentai.org.
    10. Sad panda. No prompting for a username or password.

    Clicking on your link above doesn’t prompt an automatic download or an execution of the plugin. It merely gives me the .xmi file.

    Other things I’ve tried:

    -Clear cookies and login to e-hentai trick.
    Interestingly enough, it let me on to exhentai! However that lasted a week until I cleared my bookmarked websites and stuff. Now with the same technique, it won’t let me on at all!!!

    -visit exhentai.org/login
    I got a “page does not exist” error message.

    I’m not sure what’s going on. Did I “install” the plug in in the wrong place? If so, where is the proper place? I need a direct location from C:// or whatever, because when I searched how to install plugins manually it sent me to the extensions folder.

    I know this is a bit silly, but I recommend changing the name of your plugin; while I clear my browser history before letting other nerds/webdevelopers use my laptop, if they would notice the word “hentai” in my plugins I’d never hear the end of it. I editied the .rdf file to call it “Web Helper” with a description that doesn’t mention exHentai.

      It seems to be working fine for me and many others. Could you disable every plugin apart from ours and try it? If that doesn’t work, are you willing to do a fresh/clean install of Firefox (on another computer/laptop) to see if it still happens?

      install it manually, google on how to install an xpi with a mac, I don’t own a mac so I wouldn’t know, but it should be mac compatible since it doesn’t use anything OS-specific.

    does absolutely nothing for me. just get the same sad panda image no matter what i do. no login screen or anything. I’m running ubuntu for my OS and have firefox, but still having no luck. Used to be able to get onto the site just fine, but no, nothing. Anybody have any ideas?!

          I was having trouble too but I found the answer a lot quicker. Basically, grab the xpi file (which is the plugin) and drag it to the Firefox window. It will then ask you if you want to install the plugin. Hit yes and wallah, installed.

    I downloaded the item and used my e-hentai forums login and it worked fine for me. I was already logged in to e-hentai forums and I skipped the panda page entirely and went straight to the forums.

      Try reading some of the replies, they probably blacklisted your ISP or region, ExHentai/E-Hentai does that.

      You can try emailing the admin (of e-hentai/exhentai) if you have any questions.

    Okay, so I installed the addon, but the page only loads the sad panda image. It refuses to go to the login page and will only load the normal sad panda picture.

    This doesn’t seem to work for me, any ideas why? I have the basic Firefox setup and don’t have any ad blocker extensions at all. I get the sad panda, it loads fine, but nothing happens. I have an account on e-hentai by the way, both it and g-e work fine.

      What do you mean nothing happens? Does the login page come up? What happens if you login, what does it say?

        No login page comes up, just the sad panda image. I went to http://exhentai.org/login like you told Alpha to do, but it gives me a 404. “The requested URL /login was not found on this server.” to be specific. My firefox version is a bit out of date though, I’ll get it up to speed and see what happens.

          I tested this mostly on 14.0a2 (or whatever it’s called, Aurora nightly), so it should work on newer versions.

    I installed it and the login screen won’t appear. I notice you call it a plugin, but it installs as an addon. Am I doing something wrong here?

          it happens every damn time i try and go to exhentai. i don’t even get the sadpanda. I have tried both the clearing cookie method by Kevin-kun and this addon more than a dozen times and i keep getting this
