I guess this can be considered a small project? A file renamer.

It’s a basic file renamer, which will rename files that have underscores in them and change them to spaces. If you get tired of renaming shows/files that have underscores in them, this is for you. It’s very easy to use, just navigate to the the directory with all the files in you wish to rename, hit OK and you’re done.

Features: A picture of Haruhi. Select a folder with files you would like to rename and done.

To Be Added: Status bar on screen alerting you to exactly what is being renamed. Please make requests if you have any!

Works on XP/Vista/Win7
It works fine on Windows 7 and Vista. It should be compatible with Windows XP as well.

Old Version:

Select the folder with files you would like to rename. A command prompt window shows the status of whats being done.
I opted to make a GUI version because the command line freaks out some end users for no apparent reason.

    Problems with using spaces in filenames:

    * You have to escape the spaces with backslashes (\) or quote the entire (usually long) filename to prevent it from being intrepreted as multiple arguments on a command line, which is NOT a thing you want to happen;

    * Modern operating systems use proportionally-spaced fonts in their GUIs, which makes it nearly impossible to tell by looking at a filename how many spaces are between blackspace characters. This in turn makes it nearly impossible to tell whether you (or someone else) made a typographical error.

    Having been burned by these problems before, I change my filenames to use underbars (_) instead of blanks.

    On the Windows side, I use a freeware program titled “THE Renamer”.
    On the Linux side, I use the rename command.

    Both programs allow the use of regular expressions, which is a powerful feature.

      Its a matter of opinion:

      Yes I knew all of the above when I quickly coded this but I still prefer spaces instead of _ as they are not catchy to my eye.

      And I sure as hell dont boot into *nix when I want to watch my Animes. Its a matter of opinion and this proggy exists for the few people including myself who prefer spaces over _

      Anime I get from fileshare sites usually always have underscore vs anime from torrents have spaces. It’s one or the other….
