The Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, recently visited the White House in Washington to visit the current President of the United States, Barack Obama on Tuesday. In a public address to discuss free trade between the two nations, Obama spoke about the opportunity for young Americans to thank Japan for many of their cultural activities and products. Obama listed out some of the most popular things, including Karate, Karaoke, Emoji, and even manga and anime.

Obama has been referenced in anime and manga multiple times, his “Yes we can!” quote was used by the Will Smith character Gintama:
