Chidori3souske
Hey there! Chidori3souske here! I’m the new writer here on haruhichan and I’m in charge of giving you guys season previews. Before the season preview I’ll give a very brief intro about myself. My anime preference is very diverse but generally I like shows with romance and mystery in it (well of course I’d love romance I’m a girl). Any series would do may it be horror, action, seinen, slice of life etc. I’ll watch it as long as its interesting. I usually pick up most of the shows every season and after 2-3 eps I’ll decide whether I’ll keep watching it or I’ll drop it. I give shows a chance because maybe there are some unpopular shows out there that are really good too bad its underrated and most people ignore it. After that, I usually write my first impressions and reviews on my site and the other site where I also write so do check it out if you have the time (^_^) (oh yes I have an ulterior motive…to promote my site wwwwwwwww just joking). Enough of introductions let’s now proceed to the intro of the season preview.
It’s probably your first time you’ve read my season preview so I’ll explain my format. Others are self explanatory. There’s the summary, notable staff and an impression from me.
A whooping 41 shows this spring season but I included kiddie shows and shows that promote toys. Who knows maybe some of you dear readers, fancy those kinds of series. Despite the inclusion, we still have around 34 shows and that’s still a lot.
Ah, it’s already summer in this end of the world, and that signals the advent of spring in Northern Hemisphere (and that means new animes, yay!) I’ve already spotted a few interesting shows, but I’ll still try the first few eps of most of the series airing since I might find a few dark horses in those unpopular shows (wwww I learned my lesson).
In this season preview, I added notable staff and seiyuu to help you guys gauge if a series has some potential or if you fancy some seiyuus just like me that make you want to watch that show. I didn’t add those in shows that promote toys and kiddie shows since it’s a very daunting task and most of you guys would just probably skip it. I hope this new feature helps!
Now on to the spring 2012 anime preview!

Impressions:
Chidori3souske What’s up with the old school character design this spring season? Anyway, I can’t find any PVs around so we’re stuck with the promotional poster and the summary. Base on those I think its pretty decent and somehow interesting. The major drawback for me is the character design but I’m not going to judge it solely on that so I think I’ll try a couple of episodes. Btw the first episode had been released already and I’m going to watch it when I had the time and shortly after I’m going to release a first impression (hopefully).
Saint Seiya Omega

Yukino, Satsuki – Chidori, Kaname (Full Metal Panic!), Higurashi, Kagome (InuYasha)
Konishi, Katsuyuki – Kamina (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann), Tsuruga, Ren (Skip Beat!)
Impressions:
Chidori3souske To tell you the truth I was really surprised that we got some notable staff and cast here but I’m a bit cautious since the director of this series looks like a newbie since its his first time to direct his own series. I’m really tempted to try and watch this since the script by Yoshido Reiko-san seems promising and its not a sequel and will have an original story. I think I’m going to try a couple of eps but if its not my thing then I’ll drop it.

The summary seems interesting and seems like this series has a hint of comedy in it and if its in the hands of the script from Makoto-san maybe this will be a fun ride just like Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka?. Oh Mutta-san even though he’s already 32 years old he still wants to achieve his dreams. Ganbare to him I’ll be cheering him on as I watch him achieve his dreams. Hiiro no Kakera

Animation Production: Studio DEEN
Trailer
Summary:
The 17-year-old Kasuga Tamaki’s parents are suddenly transferred to Africa, prompting Tamaki to return to the beautiful countryside, to live with her grandmother Ugaya Shizuki. On her path up the mountain she encounters a small fluff-ball-like god, and then is attacked by strange one-eyed beings, drowned gods, attracted to those with the blood of Princess Tamayori. Onizaki Takuma, sent by Shizuki to pick up Tamaki, only barely saves her.
As Tamaki’s grandmother explains: The village is surrounded by a barrier that seals away the Onikirimaru. For a long time the Tamayori princesses have kept the magical sword sealed away, but the seal has started to weaken, agitating the local gods. Since Tamaki is the next Tamayorihime, she has to succeed her grandmother, and thus it now befalls her to seal away the Onikirimaru again…
Tamaki will not have to take on this daunting task alone, since the members of the Shugogo family — gruff Takuma, short-tempered Atori Mahiro, quiet Komura Yuuichi, and mediator Oomi Suguru — are bound by blood, sworn to protect those of Tamayorihime blood.
Notable Staff:
Shirohata, Bob – Hetalia Axis Powers (Director)

Sugita, Tomokazu – Motosuwa, Hideki (Chobits), Kyon (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu)
Impressions:
Chidori3souske I already watched the pre-broadcast airing of the first ep and its mediocre. You have bishies who is tasked to protect the our leading lady. Nothing spectacular happened yet but the story and the setting give this ‘been there done that’ feel. The animation is quite lazy too on the first ep, how much more in the future episodes? The main draw for me is the bishies but with the mediocre presentation of the first ep it failed to catch my attention. I think I’ll check out the second episode but if its still horrible then it’s a drop.

Seems interesting so I’ll try several eps. Btw this series reminds me a lot of Ultraman though the Zetman here is not 30 stories high but it looks like it still packs some punch.

The story follows a boy who was in a soccer team, but it was disbanded due to not enough players. However, after the boy meets a female professional soccer player, he aims to bring his soccer team back.
Impressions:
Chidori3souske The summary is not that interesting and I can’t find any PVs even notable staff and seiyuu. Like I said from the previous anime previews I’m not a fan of sports themed anime but last season’s Area no Kishin is quite nice so maybe I’ll like this one too so I’ll try watching the first ep but if its not interesting I’ll instantly drop it.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske Ooooh romance! Btw the violet haired girl reminds me a lot of Konata from Lucky Star. To tell you the truth the PV really looks like Lucky Star with all the moe blobs on screen. The original character design of the manga is much better compared with the moe blob character design. I’m wondering why the hell did the character design become errrr….so moe? Oh well, can’t do anything about that but the summary really looks interesting since it’s a romance and seems like we’ll be getting some laughs from it too so I think I’m going to pick this up.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske One of my much awaited series this spring is finally here! I love the premise of this series since its really unique. The girl Rea is a model student and everything seems perfect…she’s beautiful, she’s rich and is the idol of their school. Behind all that perfection hides the ugly truth that despite her smiles, no one really knows that she’s being abused by her father. After school she spends her time in an abandoned building screaming her frustrations out and incidentally that’s also where our protagonist Furuya does his zombie experiments. They met and got along with each other and one day unknowingly, Rea stole Furuya’s zombie potion and drank it wishing she’ll die and be reborn as a different person. Nothing really happened the next day but when Rea’s father got wind that his daughter have been spending some time with a guy he went and dragged Rea back home. While Rea and his father is arguing, Rea’s father accidentally pushed her daughter on a cliff and she dies……not…she became a zombie. Yes this beautiful girl became a zombie (what a waste) but she’s not the kind of zombie we know who likes eating flesh and brains though a little spoiler here….she will eventually. The manga was all about Furuya’s adventures with new found love interest, zombie-Rea. It’s a fun read and I’m not going to spoil you guys much but the summary I wrote would probably the content of the first ep. Definitely going to pick this up.

Chidori3souske One of my most awaited series this season. The PV looks exciting and I like the character design of the main character with the ‘real’ him all fat and pudgy and his online counterpart is a cool looking robot. The show seems like it likes to point out that looks can be deceiving specially those you find online. GAH! I can’t contain my excitement! Oh and KOTOKO and May’n doing the theme song performance I am so in! Definitely going to watch this series.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske XEBEC is back with a series full of fanservice…ah…that’s the XEBEC I know. Honestly, I wish Lag Rin’s second season would be aired this season but I guess for XEBEC to maintain its quality I have to wait for 3 months….sigh what a long wait. I’m a bit wary of picking up this show since I expect it to have shameless fanservice but I like the idea of girls with guns so I’m a bit inclined on picking it up. I guess I’ll try watching the 1st episode and if I can’t take the fanservice then its an instant drop.

Fate/Zero takes place 10 years prior to the events of Fate/stay night, detailing the events of the 4th Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City. The War of the Holy Grail is a contest in which seven magi summon seven Heroic Spirits to compete to obtain the power of the “Holy Grail,” which grants a miracle. After three inconclusive wars for the elusive Holy Grail, the Fourth War commences.
Founded by the Einzbern, Makiri, and Tohsaka families centuries ago, the Einzbern family is determined to achieve success after three successive failures, no matter the cost. As a result, they have elected to bring the hated magus killer, Kiritsugu Emiya, into their ranks, despite his methods and reputation as a skilled mercenary and a hitman who employs whatever he can use to accomplish his goals. Though Kiritsugu had once wanted to become a hero who could save everyone, he has long since abandoned this ideal upon realizing that saving one person comes at the cost of another’s life. For the sake of humanity, he will ruthlessly destroy anything and anyone who threatens the peace of others.
However, Kiritsugu finds himself deeply torn between the love he has found for his new family – his wife Irisviel and their daughter Illya – and what he must do to obtain the Holy Grail. Meanwhile, Kiritsugu’s greatest opponent appears in the form of Kirei Kotomine, a priest who cannot find any sense of fulfillment in his life and sets his sights on Kiritsugu as the possible answer to the emptiness he feels. Impressions:
Chidori3souske Its about time!! I love the first season and it ended with a effing cliffhanger so hopefully the opening episode is action packed. I like this prequel better because it’s a lot darker than its counterpart and it has an awesome cast that you could sympathize with. Everyone has their own motives why they want the grail and some of them tries to justify what they do and their views about certain things are really interesting. Will the ending bring tears to my eyes? I can’t wait to find out! A guaranteed watch, obviously.

Chidori3souske Wut? Wwwwwwwwwwwww he tasted her drool and he likes it? WTF? Why do I get the feeling that this series will have shameless fanservice? Ah because its is being animated by Hoods entertainment whose works include Aki Sora, Seikon no Qwaser and Manyuu Hikenchou. I haven’t read the manga so I don’t know what to expect so maybe I’ll try the first ep but if its full of fanservice useless fanservice then it’s a drop.

Animation Production: Silver Link
Trailer 1, Trailer 2
Summary:
The story takes place in Seikyou Private School. A facility that consists of multiple buildings that connect together to accommodate both junior and senior high school students. Sixty years of ongoing renovations and expansions have meant most of the old inner structures have been sealed and abandoned. Classrooms turned into storage rooms, staircases no longer in use, hallways like dark alleys. With the existence of such a maze-like building, it is only natural that rumours of the paranormal would appear.
One day first-year middle school student Teiichi Niiya gets lost in this maze and by chance arrives at an old storage room. This is where he meets Yuuko Kanoe, a mysterious girl with raven black, long silky hair and a tall and slender figure, who introduces herself as the ghost of the old school building. For some unexplainable reason Niiya is the only one able to see this spirit and she herself does not have any recollection of the reasons or time of her death, nor any lingering feelings about life itself. Curious about the circumstances of her death the two create a paranormal investigation club and seek to find out the truth about it and the many other mysteries surrounding the school.

Chidori3souske Interesting premise since one of the protagonist is already dead and she wants to find out who killed her. Yay! we got another horror anime this season hopefully it’ll be a worthy replacement for Another. I like the mix of the genre…horror, mystery, romance lovely LOVELY! Though it’s a bit sad that the lead girl is already dead, I think it’ll have a bitter sweet ending. I am so darn in!! I’ll definitely watch this. Btw I love the song in the 2nd PV.

I like the lineup of seiyuus and theme song performance by Kan-tan and Yuuki Aoi…I want to listen to it! Oh well, I guess I’ll try a couple of eps and hopefully enjoy mahjong with the new characters.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske The premise of the series really reminds me of Black Lagoon since the protagonist is involved in illegal business. With the person who wrote the script and screenplay of Ano Natsu and Phantom I think this series is in good hands. Kawada, Mami and Yanagi, Nagi will perform the OP and ED song of this series…..gosh I just love their voice so its another reason to watch the series. Seems like a fun series with lots of fun gun totting action, violence and a dark plot…I’m totally sold! Definitely going to watch this!

Chidori3souske The PV nor the summary isn’t really interesting. This series really reminds me of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou since the protagonist are all boys and there’s Sugitan-san who played Hidenori on the said series. Oh well, I guess all I can do is watch the first ep and see how things go.

Chidori3souske Seems like this isn’t sequel so I guess even though I didn’t watch Eureka Seven I could still understand this. Since it’s a mecha I’m in and I’ve got to find a good replacement for Rinne no Lagrange until its 2nd season to ease my withdrawal from it. Definitely going to pick this up.

Chidori3souske Unfortunately I can’t find any available PVs for this series so the game PV would do for now. TONY TAKA!!! Y U SO GOOD?! Damn I really love Tony’s works….those eyes HHHNNNGGGG!!! *Ahem* Ok gotta compose myself. I’m not really impressed with the background of Kawasaki-san since almost all of his works are well, mediocre so I’m a bit wary on picking up this show. Lovely line up of seiyuu with a beautiful character design by Tony and an interesting summary (Pirates!!) I’ll definitely going to pick this up.

Chidori3souske Ooooh from the director of FMP 2nd raid and Gatoh-san the original creator of FMP….seems interesting! Eru really looks like Mio isn’t she? Oh well, after several years KyoAni still loves its moe blob character design good grief. What’s up with KyoAni and Clubs…we got another series with clubs…come on KyoAni give me something different next time alright? Ah, its under the mystery genre….interesting since I think it’s the first time for KyoAni to make an anime with mystery in it. Let’s see how KyoAni will fare this season since I don’t really like their previous work (Nichijou). I guess I got tired of their moe blob anime hopefully this series would be an exception. Impressions:
Chidori3souske What is this Idolm@ster with a touch of dystopian theme? Sure its interesting but I can’t help but laugh at the summary when I first read it since from my understanding this show is promoting the idol group AKB48 and I can’t imagine them being a guerilla wwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Anyway I like the staff behind this series from the like od Kawamori-san and Okada Mari-san this series looks like it has some potential. I also like how this series revolves around music kinda like Macross Frontier though I wonder how will the battle in this series executed. I guess I’ll tray a couple of eps.
