Spring 2013 Review

Pretty much the only short I’m watching this season. People told me to watch Muromi-san because it was another good short show but I just didn’t have the will to pick it up. Anyways, pretty much a short Slice of Life show with 3 high school girls. Nothing super special about it but a good 3 minutes watch every Tuesday I guess ~

Aku no Hana

Lots of people told me that this was going to be really good because the manga was really good. I had expectations for this show because of what everyone was telling me but after watching it, it wasn’t all that special. Apparently the production companies messed up the animation and art pretty badly as you can tell from the screen shots above, the art does look a bit…. unique….lol.
Anyways, aside from the art, it was an okay show. The characters in the show itself are pretty fucked up individuals. There are a few scenes so far where it’s pretty much “holy fuck, did that just happen?”.

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge

Oh god, it’s Nazo no Kanojo all over again!… except not as good. Even though I said that, it’s not a bad show at all. The beginning is a bit awkward and might draw people away from the show but as it progresses and more stuff starts it happen, it’s actually pretty interesting. High School student who pretty much fights people with killer weapons using a scissor… Not the best show this season, but definitely not the worse. Depending on your preferences, you might actually love this one.

Date a Live

I had some pretty high expectations for this show. It’s say to say but those expectations were pretty much thrown down the drain. The show isn’t as good as everyone said it would be. It’s alright, but not OMGSUPERGOODGODLIKESHOW! It kind of reminds me of a dating sim where 1 guy just tires and picks up all the girls but in the protagonist Shido’s case, he’s trying to “save” them by going on a date with them and kissing them… Show’s not terrible, it’s got it’s funny points, and the “spirits” aka the heroines are pretty cute, especially Tohka. :3

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation

This isn’t a sequel of any sort, it’s an adaptation of a game I believe. Although I still don’t know the real reason why it has a 2 at the end of the title, it’s irrelevant I guess. Typical show where there’s summoning of beasts/familiar’s involved and as usual… the main character get’s the most powerful familiar out of no where. Pretty standard but an enjoyable show nonetheless, watching it because, heck, why not?

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W

How could I not possibly watch this?! Season 1 was fucking awesome! This show is just hilarious, makes me laugh every episode. If I had a Nyaruko in real life I’d be all over it. If you’ve seen the first season and enjoyed it, you have to see this.

Hataraku Maou-sama!

I didn’t expect anything out of this show, I mean, the title already had got me pretty confused. “Part Timer Demon King”?, nonetheless, I gave the show a try because hey, weird stuff always ends up hilarious and for sure, the show is fucking hilarious. I’d honestly label this as the funniest show this season. From plot twisters to puns, this show has got me cracking up really hard every episode. There’s also a story to it so it isn’t pure Slice of Life so it make’s a good watch. Definitely one of the top’s of the season for me.

Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko

Pathetic and perverted main character who meets this cute girl on top of a hill. I didn’t expect to much of the show but it’s honestly not as bad, there’s actually a story instead of just pure nonsense going on. It’s got some good comedy packed into it as well as story, would recommend to almost everyone.

Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Bride

Season 2 of the samurais who wears less and less by the episode \o/. I’m not the one to like high fan service content shows but being that I watched season 1 fully (for some reason that I still can’t figure out) I just decided to watch this. First 4 episodes have been full of shit besides the first episode where they introduced some important characters. Of course, those characters just faded away and they’ll probably come back after let’s see, 6-7 episodes?

Majestic Prince

5 pathetic main characters who’s the bottom of their school is suddenly chosen to protect their planet. Wow, sounds like any other generic show involving mechas and heros. Although the characters could be played better, it’s not all that bad. A good show to kill time on a Thursday afternoon I guess~

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai 2

I fucking love this show dearly. I wish I had a Kirino in real life, I would molest give it more love than it could ever receive from anyone. Anywhom, season 1 was a fucking blast. I enjoyed almost every episode and I cried like a little girl man towards the end just like every other human being who watched the show. If you watched and enjoyed season 1, you for sure have you watch season 2 especially if you like Ayase or Kuroneko.

Photo Kano

Guy who picks up photography as a hobby after receiving a free DSLR camera from his dad starts his journey to the biggest harem in his god damn school. People say it’s a lot like Amagami SS and I say it’s bullshit, it’s nothing like Amagami SS. It’s not a terrible show but not something I would put at the top. I’m only watching this because of the sister, LOL.

RDG: Red Data Girl

Ever since Hanasaku Iroha I’ve taking a liking to P.A Work’s stuff. When they announced Red Data Girl I was actually pretty excited, had some expectation for it and surely when it started airing I took a liking to it. Although the pacing in the beginning is a bit slow, once the story starts kicking in, it get’s really interesting. Involves a lot of spirits, magic, spells, and all that kind of fun stuff.

Shingeki no Kyojin

Pretty much close to the show of the season for me, I haven’t really met anyone who has seen this and didn’t say they either liked or loved it…. expect for Kusion, who is proven to have bad taste (HE THINKS CHIYU IS BETTER THAN KUROYUKIHIME, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!). Anywhom, really action packed, the beginning reminds me a bit of Muv Luv but aside from that everything is great for me. There’s not a lot of stuff I can say besides epic? Pretty sure it’s the most watched show of the season right now.

Suisei no Gargantia

Someone from a completely different planet that pilots a pretty much invincable and badass mecha is sudden thrown into a black hole(?) and ends up on earth. It’s pretty much about the guy adapting and living with the people on earth. Doesn’t have really much of a real story besides the fact that he’s trying to go back to his own planet. It’s a good show, it’s labeled as an Slice of Life show by the author though for god knows why.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S

Misaka > Ruiko > Kuroko > Kazari
Haven’t started on this yet as I still need to catch up with/re-watch the first season but i’m pretty sure anyone who has seen and liked the first season would love this, especially after 3 years.

Valvrave the Liberator

3rd Mecha show of the season! Guy who obtains specials powers pilots a special mecha and goes on a adventure to save his friends and the place he lives. Packs a good story with plenty of action. Pretty good show, it’s up there for this season, best mecha show out of the 3 (or 4, don’t remember) that’s airing this season.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru

As the title states, it’s pretty a Love Come (Romance Comedy) show and like always, it’s placed in a high school. I like this show a lot, and by a lot I mean I like it enough for it to be on my top 5 of the season list. Main character has a pretty baller personality that I’m pretty sure a lot of “otaku’s” can relate to (sorry, lol). Heroine is pretty much a bad ass whom I’m sure a lot of you will enjoy watching. :3

Yuyushiki

Slice of life of the season for me. Purely a slice of life show with a lot of cute and funny scenes. Not really much to say about it~Oh, and…

Zettai Bouei Leviatan

Cute loli mages! Not much people like this show as far as I can tell but I personally love it. It’s fun, and it’s cute. Good watch for my Saturday nights~ HEHEHE.

Arata Kangatari
Subgroup: CrunchyRoll – [HorribleSubs]

I watched this up to episode 3 and pretty much got tired of it. It got up to the point where I wasn’t even watching it anymore, if I recall correctly the entire episode 3 my eyes was on my phone with Candy Crush Saga on and just listening to the audio… lol. Story just died out on my I guess.

Karneval
Subgroup: [Anime-Koi]

First 2-3 episodes was alright, it was lacking and I hoped that it would improve but it didn’t. Slowly got bored of the show and watching it felt like a drag to me and when it feels like it’s a drag watching a show, it’s something that needs to be dropped.

Wasn’t too bad, better than last season. I only dropped 2 shows out of everything I picked up. Judging by the early chart release, I think Summer 2013 will be a pretty good season. 🙂
