Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested two Chinese nationals on Wednesday on charges of copyright violation, after they uploaded the latest chapter of The Seven Deadly Sins for a piracy site before its official release. The police suspect that the two suspects obtained the chapters from an elderly delivery company worker who was arrested on November 13th for allegedly giving a copy of Shonen Jump magazine to three previous suspects who were arrested around the same time for posting chapters of One Piece‘s manga to the internet without permission.

The Seven Deadly Sins Manga Volume 1

The police are now investigating if the delivery company worker was being paid to give the magazines to these scantalation groups, and also investigating if there are more groups of the sort doing these same acts. It begs the question though, why is this elderly delivery company worker being arrested, despite not understanding the consequences of his decision? Sure, it’s against policy give magazines to the public before its official release, but, does the old man deserve to be arrested for helping out pirates, despite not knowing what the people he was giving the magazines to were going to do with them?
