The official website of the Aikatsu! franchise has announced that a new Aikatsu Stars! television anime series will premiere in April. Additionally, the company announced a movie will open in theaters on August 13, 2016, and will be titled Aikatsu Stars! Movie.
A new special anime titled Aikatsu!: Nerawareta Mahou no Aikatsu Card will also screen along side the Aikatsu Stars! Movie. The new TV anime Aikatsu Stars! will air on TV Tokyo beginning April 7. It will air on Thursdays at 6:25 p.m. (Aikatsu! is currently airing in the 6:30 p.m. time slot.)
The new series follows Yume Nijino, who enters Yotsuboshi Academy and aims to become a top idol. In the movie, the students of the academy will travel to an island in the south in search of a legendary dress.

Aikatsu! or Aikatsu! Idol Activity is an arcade collectible card game in Bandai’s Data Carddass line of machines, which launched in October 2012. The game revolves around using collectible cards featuring various clothes to help aspiring idols pass auditions. An anime adaptation by Sunrise began airing on TV Tokyo from October 8, 2012. A film adaptation was released in December 2014. Three manga adaptations have been published by Shogakukan, along with four Nintendo 3DS games published by Bandai Namco Games.
