Japanese Women Find Figurine Collecting Less Desirable than Bug and Underwear Collecting?

66

A recent survey on the female-centric Japanese website called My Navi Woman, has revealed that the Japanese women, that were involved in the survey, did not want their boyfriends to collect anime related merchandise — the goods ranged from the casual figurines to the hardcore collecting of women’s underwear.

If you didn’t know, Otaku culture is looked down upon in Japan, despite however it is portrayed in the West.

To make things slightly more devastating, the women involved in the survey even ranked which they deemed they liked the least.

  • 10. Anime related merchandise (3 votes)
  • 9. Otaku goods (3 votes)
  • 8. Hentai (6 votes)
  • 7. Insect collection (10 votes)
  • 6. Female underwear (13 votes)
  • 5. Idol related merchandise (15 votes)
  • 4. Idol related pictures and posters (17 votes)
  • 3. Anime figurines (23 votes)
  • 2. Bishoujo figurines (29 votes)
  • 1. Figurines (40 votes)

With a quick glance, it’s easy to spot some peculiar interests and hobbies. It’s rather simple to see why some of these partaking women find a few of these hobbies resistible but to see them ranked under figurine collecting is a complete surprise.

In a society where anime and manga are huge forms of entertainment, it isn’t a shock to see merchandise created after them. However, it’s surprising to see it being more of a turn-off than insect or female underwear collecting.

It’s also pretty surprising to see Idol Groups being disliked.

Although it’s a pretty small sample size, so many questions. Oh Japan. So many questions, so many question indeed.
