The official TOHO Movie Channel began streaming a new trailer for the second live-action movie of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s science-fiction manga Parasyte titled, Parasyte: The Final Act, on Friday. The video also features the movie’s theme song, “Colony”, which is performed by Japanese rock group Bump of Chicken. Parasyte: The Final Act will open in theaters throughout Japan on April 25.
The first trailer was streamed last December:
The first part of the two-part Parasyte live-action film series, directed by Takashi Yamazaki (live-action Space Battleship Yamato, Always: Sunset on Third Street), debuted on 418 screens across Japan on November 29. It topped the weekend box office with 340,337,300 yen on 256,161 tickets sales, winning the battle with another strong new release of the week, Brad Pitt’s tank-featured war film Fury in 2nd with an estimated 200 million yen.
Shota Sometani (live-action xxxHOLiC, All Esper Dayo!) stars in the films as Shinichi Izumi, Eri Fukatsu (Onnanoko Monogatari) plays Ryōko Tamiya, Shinichi’s teacher who has a Parasite take over her body, and Ai Hashimoto (Blood-C: The Last Dark, live-action Another, Sadako 3D) plays Satomi Murano, Shinichi’s classmate and childhood friend. Ryota Kosawa (Always: Sunset on Third Street, A Boy Called H) is writing the films’ scripts.
These films adapt Iwaaki’s original manga serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine from 1990-1995. The 10-volume series (later reprinted in an eight-volume version) has more than 11 million copies in print.

Synopsis for the first live-action Parasyte movie from asianwiki:
Mysterious worm-like aliens fall from the sky. They penetrate through the ears or nose into human beings and live off their brain while dominating the body. Now with human appearance, the parasites live among humans.
Shinichi Izumi (Shota Sometani) is an ordinary high school student. His best friend is Satomi Murano (Ai Hashimoto). One day, Shinichi Izumi is attacked by a parasite, but he is able to fight off the parasite before it takes over his brain. The parasite though lives within his right hand. Shinichi Izumi and the parasite now live together. Shinichi believes the parasites are responsible for countless murders all around the world and he feels responsible, because he knows the truth.
Meanwhile, Ryoko Tamiya (Eri Fukatsu) is a teacher that starts her new post at the same high school where Shinichi attends. She has been taken over by a parasite and comes to observe Shinichi.
