Youkai Watch is a role-playing video game developed and published by Level-5. The original game was released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on July 11th, 2013. An anime adaptation has been airing in Japan since January 8th, 2014 and is one of the more popular children’s anime in Japan’s Kanto region. More recently, a movie adaptation went into production and is planned for on December 20th, 2014.

Surprisingly, Toho, the distributor for the movie, has announced that a sequel is already confirmed. It is planned for release in the Winter of 2015. One of the major reasons a second movie is already planned is because of the huge amount of sales the tickets for the current movie, Youkai Watch: Taniyo no Himitsuda-Nyan!, has racked up. As of October 26th, 2014, over 700,000 tickets have bee sold in just 99 days of available purchasing. This is the highest number of sales the company has ever experienced.
Now, Youkai Watch fans can watch this movie without the fear and trepidation that the series will end here. For with their amazing love for the series, they have effectively bought themselves a sequel.
