Greetings viewers. Today, I’ll be reviewing a figurine rendition of Asuka Langley from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. This beauty was crafted by the team over at E2046 and is a part of their Gathering Series.
There’s a lot to say about this figurine — The main usage of red grabs the attention of the viewer while the usage of black weakens the presence of the red. The inclusion of black really balances the color scheme. Without the black, the red would overpower the entire figurine and it would cause more pain than pleasure to view. Fortunately, alongside the well-balanced red and black, there’s a small amount of orange and white used. These two colors don’t stand out on Asuka’s leather-wear too much, but however they do stand out on the bike — this can be both a good and bad thing.
The coloring of Asuka’s wear is rather well-balanced. The red, black, and white do not present any problems when placed alongside one another, however, the orange tends to stick out. Despite orange sticking out a bit, it works well. The placement of orange allows the viewer to transition from Asuka’s face to rest of her body without having the urge to shift attention somewhere else.
The motorcycle shares the same color scheme but it is applied differently from her suit. Unlike her suit, the coloring on the bike is erratic. The colors aren’t layered smoothly and seem to divert all attention to the orange decal.
There are two focal points within this figurine’s composition — Asuka and her motorcycle. This is somewhat of a negative due to the weird jumps the eye makes to see both. Despite the seemingly erratic composition, there’s a lot to appreciate.
At a closer look, we’re able to see the amazing detailing of Asuka and her motorcycle gear. The incredibly detail driven team over at E2046 went as far as to add the sponsors and the safety gear an actual professional would have — it all amounts to giving a realistic look to the fictional character. Asuka’s leather suit feels incredibly alive; the accuracy to the real-world equivalent is impeccable, really.
Asuka’s face and hair is also done the quality that’s expected from the E2046 team.
Her can is also finely designed. How do they even?
This figurine is amazing from every angle. The appearance of Asuka’s suit and motorcycle are visually appealing from any angle.
