The Association of Japanese Animations has released their annual figures for 2013, at the 2014 AnimeJapan event. The figures covers the gross totals that anime has gained that year in Japan. They also cover international sales as well as distinguishing how much profit is made, and which merchandises reaps the most money.
So here are the statistics for annual gross of the 2013 anime industry:
- The top left figure shows the total amount of minutes of anime produced that year. The figure only includes TV anime, not OVAs or films.
- The bottom left represents the total box office gross profit of anime films. The totals are in billions of yens, though the numbers are not represented correctly. For 2013, though it shows 470 億円 it is in reality 47 billion yen, which equates to approx. 470 million USD.
- The right figure shows the 12 highest grossing anime movies throughout 2013. The totals are also in billions of yen; to loosely convert it to USD, just divide by 100. The list in English are as follows:
