Voice Actress Miyu Matsuki Passed Away Due to Epstein–Barr Virus

We reported back in November that the voice actress Miyu Matsuki passed away on October 27, 2015, at 38 years-old, for unknown reasons.

Miss Matsuki’s family recently shared the cause of death to raise awareness, the agency 81 Produce reported on Tuesday through their blog that the voice actress was diagnosed with a chronic active Epstein-Barr virus, which led to a terminal case of malignant lymphoma, causing the death of Miyu Matsuki.

Back in July, she said having a fever since the start of the year that would not recede, after finding out she had acute pneumonia by repeatedly going to the hospital for check-ups, she decided to take a break from her work to focus on treating her pneumonia.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4, is a member of the herpes virus family. It is one of the most common human viruses. EBV is found all over the world. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives. EBV spreads most commonly through bodily fluids, primarily saliva. EBV can cause infectious mononucleosis, also called mono, and other illnesses.

Nyaruko-san, Shiina’s mother in Koufuku Graffiti, Yoshinoya from Hidamari Sketch, and Hagimura’s mother from Seitokai Yakuindomo.

In non-anime roles, Miyu voiced Claire in Sen no Kiseki II, Lailah in Tales of Zestiria, Iris in Aterlier Iris, and Waka in Phantom Breaker.
