New Gakkou Gurashi! Anime Visual Reveals the Shocking Truth

The official website of the anime adaptation of Norimitsu Kaihou and Sadoru Chiba’s Gakkou Gurashi! manga has revealed an updated visual at the end of the first episode to reflect what is really happening in the world of the series.

Earlier last week a fan wondered why the main character, Yuki Takeya, has different a school uniform than the rest of the main cast. The Japanese Twitter user believes that they have found an explanation that gives the visual choices a deeper, psychological meaning.

He also stated that if you place the girls side by side and reverse the color palettes, the colors of their uniforms match perfectly.

This suggests that Yuki’s mismatched uniform is actually reflective of her ‘inverted’ psychological state.

The site has also revealed that the Opening theme of the upcoming anime will be the song Friend Shitai performed by the main cast of the anime. The Ending theme will be performed by Japanese singer Maon Kurosaki.

Gakkou Gurashi! is a Japanese manga series written by Nitroplus’ Norimitsu Kaihou and illustrated by Sadoru Chiba. The series began serialization in the July 2012 issue of Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine. An anime adaptation by Lerche will begin airing in Summer 2015

China Brings down the Ban Hammer on over 30 Anime and Manga Titles

The Chinese government has started to crackdown on the distribution of foreign media and now anime and manga are the next target. The Chinese Ministry of Culture announced last month that it has blacklisted 38 Japanese anime and manga titles from distribution in China, online or in print. They also stated that websites and book distributors will be fined and may lose licenses if found in distribution.

The newly banned anime and manga titles include:

Senior Ministry official Liu Qiang released a statement in regards to the new ban on selected titles:

The list is the result of evaluations by investigators, reviews by the ministry and the opinions of experts. It aims to guide websites in the proper review and importation of comics and animations.

Liu Qiang also stated that more titles will be added to the list.

As of April 1, new regulations in China require video websites to seek approval to stream foreign media. At the time, the ministry began blacklisting titles that “include scenes of violence, pornography, terrorism and crimes against public morality.” Websites hosting this content were put under investigation.

According to the Ministry, 29 Chinese websites have now been fined and given warnings to remove the material or else risk losing their business licenses. These websites include Baidu Inc’s iQiyi, Sohu.com Inc., Tencent, Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp Beijing (LeTV), and Youku Tudou. In addition, eight websites were shut down for hosting content without license.

Toho Animation’s official YouTube channel began streaming new commercials for the ongoing TV anime adaptation of Okayado’s Monster Musume (Everyday Life with Monster Girls) manga, on Sunday.

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou, usually translated as “Everyday Life with Monster Girls” but also as “Daily Life with a Monster Girl” or “Everyday Monster Girls“, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Okayado. The manga first began as a series of hentai one-shots. An anime adaption has been announced to Air in July 2015.

Monster Musume is currently published in Japan by Tokuma Shoten in their Monthly Comic Ryu magazine and by Seven Seas Entertainment in the United States, with the chapters collected and reprinted into—so far—6 tankobon volumes. The story revolves around Kimihito Kurusu, often referred to as “Darling” among various other things, a Japanese student whose life is totally thrown into turmoil after becoming involved with the “Interspecies Cultural Exchange” program by mistake.

Cheery Kekkai Sensen Poster Revealed in NewType

A new poster visual featuring William Macbeth, Mary Macbeth, Leonardo Watch and Michella Watch, from Yasuhiro Nightow’s Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront) has been featured in the August issue of popular Japanese magazine NewType. This issue of NewType can be purchased here.

Last month the official website for the anime adaptation of Yasuhiro Nightow’s Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront) manga series revealed that the 12th and final episode has been delayed beyond the previously announced July 4-5 weekend dates. The anime’s production committee explained that the staff determined that the final episode cannot air in a 30-minute timeslot, since its required length will be longer than estimated.

The staff still plan to air the final episode on the MBS, Tokyo MX, and BS11 stations, but the broadcast dates and times have yet to be determined. When the dates and times are decided, the anime’s official website and Twitter account will announce them.

Instead of the final episode, a special program for Kekkai Sensen will air on the following stations and dates:

MBS: Saturday, July 4 at 27:28 (effectively, July 5 at 3:28 a.m.)
Tokyo MX: Sunday, July 5 at 24:00 (effectively, July 6 at midnight)
BS11: Sunday, July 5 at 24:30 (effectively, July 6 at 12:20 a.m.)

The staff members had announced that they would delay the final episode until July 4 at 26:28 JST (July 5 at 2:28 a.m.) on MBS. However, MBS had already scheduled the premiere of the Durarara!!x2 Ten season for the same 26:28 timeslot on July 4.

In addition to this, the series has been featured as a double page spread in the July issue of Japanese anime magazine Animedia. The new visual features Klaus von Reinherz, Leonardo Watch, Zapp Renfro and others enjoying a nice time at the sea.

Kekkai Sensen is a Japanese shounen manga by Yasuhiro Nightow. It has published bimonthly in the magazine Jump SQ.19 ever since 2009 and moved to Jump Square upon the former’s ending. It follows a young photographer named Leonardo Watch who obtained the All Seeing Eyes at the cost of his sister’s eyesight. He moves to the city of Hellsalem’s Lot to join an organization known as Libra to fight several monsters as well as terrorists. The manga has been published in the United States by Dark Horse Comics.

In celebration of the first anniversary, the hit Puzzle & Dragons video game is bringing back the collaboration with new Limitation Transformation Gon Freecss, Godspeed Killua Zoldyck, along with returning heroes, Hunter Association reps, Phantom Troupe and Chimera ants, as well as missions on the path to becoming a “Triple Star” Hunter.

Hayate the Combat Butler Reaches 500th Chapter Milestone & Announces New Series

Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine announced on July 8th that author Kenjirou Hata is preparing to start a new manga series that will run alongside the Hayate the Combat Butler series in the same magazine. The synopsis and title will be introduced in August 5th’s 36/37 double issue, then the series will launch in issue 40, due for release on September 2nd. It will then run monthly. Hayate the Combat Butler will also be continuing.

Weekly Shounen Sunday, which serializes Kenjirou Hata’s Hayate the Combat Butler!, has celebrated the milestone by featuring Nagi Sanzenin, Hayate Ayasaki, and Maria on the cover.

Hayate the Combat Butler is a Japanese manga series, written and illustrated by Kenjiro Hata, about a boy who starts a new job as a butler and the events he experiences with his employer. Shogakukan have released 45 volumes in Japan. The English edition of the series has been licensed by Viz Media for distribution in North America. The style of the manga has a comedic gag with a slight harem feel and constantly breaks the fourth wall. A 52-episode anime adaptation of the manga by SynergySP aired between April 2007 and March 2008 on TV Tokyo. A second, 25-episode anime season by J.C.Staff aired between April and September 2009. Bandai Entertainment licensed the first anime series in 2008, but the series went out of print in 2012. An anime film adaption produced by Manglobe was released in August 2011. A third, 12-episode anime television series by Manglobe, based mostly on an original story not seen in the manga aired between October and December 2012. A fourth anime season aired between April and July 2013.

Hayate the Combat Butler synopsis from MAL:

16-year-old Hayate is really down on his luck. Because his unemployed parents are good-for-nothings who waste what money they have on gambling, Hayate had to start working at a young age to help out his family. Although such experience has made him inhumanly fast and tough and skilled at things boys aren’t normally skilled at, it has also left him in an awkward position, as his parents have racked up such a huge gambling debt that they have sold Hayate to the yakuza for the value of his organs. In a desperate attempt to avoid that fate, Hayate decides to become a “bad guy” and kidnap someone to be held for ransom, but his efforts to do so are mistaken as a confession of love by the girl he targets. When he helps save the (as it turns out) ultra-wealthy 13-year-old Nagi from real kidnappers, she takes him in and gives him a job as her new personal butler (and love interest) until he can pay off his debt. But Hayate is more attracted to Nagi’s beautiful teenage maid Maria, and head butler Klaus is initially disapproving of a boy with such a poor look. And then there’s Nagi’s pet Tama, who is also a force to be reckoned with.

Attack on Titan Manga Volume 17 Cover Previewed

The official Twitter account for Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) franchise posted a photo of the cover of the upcoming 17th volume, which is scheduled to be released in Japan on December 9. The limited edition, priced at 1,058 yen ($8.57), comes with the 1st volume of the Kansai-ben/dialect version and nine-type of clear bookmarkers printed with the characters’ famous lines in various Japanese dialects, for example, Koushu dialect for Levi and Hakata dialect for Erwin.

In addition to this, the first visual for the second TV anime season was released this January and it was also revealed that the second season of Attack on Titan will be airing sometime in 2016.

The Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) series was created by Hajime Isayama. It started off as a manga in 2009 and is published in Kodansha’s monthly Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. To date there has been 14 compiled volumes of the manga. A prequel light novel adaptation started in 2011, and two spin-off manga started serialization in 2012: Shingeki no Kyojin: Before the Fall and Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou. In April 2013 the series was picked up for an anime adaptation. The anime series was produced by the newly formed Wit Studios. The series has grown in popularity since the anime’s debut, with the manga selling over 36 million copies as of April this year. Two live action film adaptations will be releasing in Japan next year. The first images for the live-action 2015 Attack on Titan film were also earlier released.

Here is a synopsis of the anime from Haruhichan:

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a colossal titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.

The people behind Himouto! Umaru-chan have teamed up with Cospa, a Japanese clothing company specializing in the production of cosplay costumes and other apparel for the otaku fan base to bring you this new T-Shirt based on Umaru Doma.

Pre-orders are currently open on AmiAmi for a total of 3,132 yen ($25.5). The T-Shirt is scheduled to be shipped out mid September.

Her camouflage is so perfect that when one of her classmates visits her home by surprise and witnesses “true Umaru,” she pretends as if she is Umaru’s younger sister. Taihei is always swayed by Umaru’s gap between ostensible face and spoiled life, but he cannot hate his comical and somehow lovable cute little sister!

Aniplus-Asia began streaming the second promotional video for the Psycho-Pass Movie with English subtitles. The movie debuted in Japanese theatres earlier this year on January 9th and the movie will be releasing in Singapore at the Golden Village Suntec City theater today.

Psycho-Pass is an original animation from Production I.G. The Sci-fi, crime solving anime began airing from October 2012 and ended in March 2013. The series was directed by first timer Naoyoshi Shiotani, with the story being written by veteran Gen Urobuchi and the characters designed by Akira Amano. The series has received a manga and light novel adaptation, that began publishing in November 2012 and February 2013 respectively. The series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person’s state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term “Psycho-Pass” refers to a standard used to measure an individual’s being. The story centers around the “enforcement officer” Shinya Kougami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.

In the future, it is possible to quantitatively measure a person’s emotions, desires, and every inclination. In this way, it is also possible to measure a person’s criminal tendency factor, which is used to judge criminals.

This is the story of a team of policemen dedicated to maintaining public order. Some of them work in the Enforcement Division, responsible for the apprehension of criminals, while others belong to the Supervisory Division which oversees their colleagues in Enforcement.

Toho Animation’s official YouTube channel began streaming new commercials for the ongoing TV anime of SankakuHead’s (Uzura Convenience, Arakure Neverland) manga, Himouto! Umaru-chan, on Sunday.

The new commercials are for the OP song “Kakushin-teki Metamaruphose!” by Aimi Tanaka, ED song “Hidamari Days” by the VA unit Sisters (Aimi Tanaka, Akari Kageyama, Haruka Shiraishi, Yurina Furukawa), DVD/Blu-ray 1st volume to be released on September 16, and the upcoming special event on December 13. Five VAs from the anime: Tanaka, Kageyama, Shiraishi, Furukawa, and Kenji Nojima are scheduled to join the December event.

Two years ago, a pair of idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amou, collectively known as ZweiWing, fought against an alien race known as Noise using armor known as Symphogear.
