A new key visual for the upcoming anime adaptation of Nagaru Tanigawa and Puyo’s The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan (The Vanishing of Nagato Yuki-Chan) has been revealed in the April issue of NyanType. The new visual features Ryouko Asakura bullying Yuki Nagato.

The anime adaptation of the spin-off manga was made late last year. Anime store Docomo was revealed to be streaming the upcoming series, as well as the two other spin-off shows in the Haruhi franchise, The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron Churuya-san.

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan is a spin-off manga in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya franchise, where it stars the eponymous character Yuki Nagato. The series takes place in the alternate universe established in The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. The series is written and drawn by Puyo, which started in February 2010. To date, the series has a total of 5 volumes with the 6th volume releasing on December 26th this year.

There is very little information regarding the anime announcement of The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, including whether or no Kyoto Animation will produce it. Two other spin-off manga were also produced into anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron Churuya-san.

Nominees for the 19th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Revealed

It was revealed this week in the Asahi Shimbun paper the nine nominees for the 19th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The nominees are chosen by the experts of the selection committee and these are the selected manga series that follow the tradition of manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka’s (Astro Boy/Mighty Atom, Kimba the White Lion/Jungle Emperor, Phoenix, Black Jack) contributions to the manga world. One of the requirements is that the manga’s latest compiled volume should have been published at least around 2014.

Here is the list of the nominees:

Aizawa Riku by Yoriko Hoshi

Genre: Drama

Machiisha Jumbo!! Manga Will End on March 2

This year’s Kodansha’s Shuukan Gendai general-interest weekly magazine’s March 7 issue revealed on Monday that Ryou Koshino’s (Ns’Aoi, Toushi Adviser Yuriko) medical manga, Machiisha Jumbo!!, will end in the magazine’s March 14 issue which will be released on March 2, 2015.

Koshino published Machiisha Jumbo!! in the same magazine on 2011. There are currently 13 compiled manga volume for the series. The first volume was released on October 21, 2011 while the latest volume was released on December 22, 2014. The 14th compiled manga volume is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2015.

The manga received a live-action adaptation on July 4, 2013. The show was broadcasted on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV until September 26, 2013 with 13 episodes. Each episode is approximately 43 minutes. Crunchyroll streamed the live-action drama as it aired in Japan.

Kodansha’s 13th 2015 issue of Weekly Morning Japanese seinen manga magazine published the last chapter of Shin Kibayashi (Bloody Monday, Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo) and Shuu Okimoto’s (Kami no Shizuku, Psycho Doctor Kai Kyosuke) Kaitou Le Vin (Le Vin, Wine Burglar) manga on Thursday, February 26, 2015.

Hiroyuki Utatane’s Tengoku Manga Ends in 2 More Chapters

The March 2015 issue of Shueisha’s Ultra Jump monthly seinen manga magazine revealed last Thursday that Hiroyuki Utatane’s fantasy, sci-fi manga, Tengoku (Heaven’s Prison), will end in two more chapters. The manga is scheduled to end next month in the May 2015 issue of the magazine, which will ship on April 18, 2015. Ultra Jump magazine also announced that the 10th compiled manga volume will ship on March 19, the 11th compiled manga volume on May 2015, and the 12th compiled manga volume on June 2015.

The manga began serializing in the July 2002 issue of the same magazine on June 19, 2002. It currently has 9 compiled manga volumes. The first compiled manga volume was released on July 16, 2004 while the ninth and latest volume was released on November 24, 2013.

Revolves around the protagonist Touku, an ordinary schoolgirl, who suddenly meets a maid collecting blood from the victim of the scene of a car crash she just saw. Intrigued, she follows her, and unreal events ensue.

Japan Turns Shinji and Kaworu into Child Clothing Models for New GeeWhiz Line

Japanese fashion brand GeeWhiz announced recently that they are to collaborate with one of Japan’s most loved animes – none other than Neon Genesis Evangelion – to be sold in the children’s clothing store Stompstamp. The collaboration with Geewhiz and the Tokyo Evangelion Store displays a younger Kaworu and Shinji modeling items available in the clothing line, with collector items featuring the official art for sale next month.

For better or worse, GeeWhiz also included some pictures of actual children modeling the products, which can be viewed for purchase information on their website.

The shirt that is modelled by both Kaworu and in the 3rd picture above has a Unit 01 color theme with a polka dot sleeve, which appear to be shaped like planets. The product is currently priced at 6,264 yen ($53).

Yet another Unit 01 themed apparel in this line is the Unit 01 themed sweatpants. The sweatpants have a faux denim style print, however they are cloth sweatpants, to create more comfort for younger children wearing them. They are currently priced at 7,452 yen ($62).

Even children’s fashion lines are incomplete without accessories to make the most stylish first impression on your first day of kindergarten. These accessories feature an angel-themed bag (for 4,212 yen or $35) and a “turban” style headband with attached Unit 01 earrings for 2,484 yen or $21. Unlike the other items in the line, this comes in both child and adult sizes.

GeeWhiz also has pictures displayed on their site of bibs, t-shirts, backpacks and hats.

Anime fans rejoice that now their future children can potentially wear their favorite anime to school. Hopefully next they will get their own Unit 01’s to ride to school.

Linebarrels of Iron Manga Planned to End on April 18

Last month, it was announced in the February and March issue of Akita Shoten’s Champion red monthly shounen magazine that Eichi Shimizu (Ultraman, Gelatin) and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s (Getter Robo Anthology ~Will of Evolution~) action and mecha manga, Kurogane no Linebarrels (Linebarrels of Iron) is entering the final arc. In the April 2015 issue, it was revealed that it will be publishing its penultimate (next to the last) chapter in their May 2015 issue which will be released in March. The final chapter is planned to be published in the June issue of the magazine on April 18, 2015 if it continues without any break.

Eichi Shimizu served as the writer for the series’ story while Tomohiro Shimoguchi served as the illustrator. The manga began its serialization on December 18, 2004. It currently has 24 compiled manga volumes, excluding the Volume 0 of the manga which was simultaneously released with the fifth volume. The 24th compiled manga volume was released on October 20, 2014.

The manga received an anime adaptation produced by Studio Gonzo (NHK ni Youkoso!, Full Metal Panic!). The anime has 24 total episodes with 2 anime specials. The anime aired on October 3, 2008 to March 20, 2009.

A Look at a Dance Sequence in the Kyoukai no Kanata Movie

Kyoto Animation have begun streaming a new promotional video for Kyoukai no Kanata -I’ll Be Here- Kako-hen (The Past), the first film in the upcoming anime film adaptations of Nagomu Torii and Tomoyo Kamoi’s Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary). This video previews the dance sequence for the insert song Yakusoku no Kizuna that was used in the 6th episode of the anime. The movie is the first part of the Kyoukai no Kanata -I’ll Be Here- project and will be a compilation film covering the anime series. The second film Mirai-hen (The Future) will be new original footage and will be set one year after the events of the anime. The main cast will return in both films with Risa Taneda (Aya Komichi in Kiniro Mosaic) as Mirai Kuriyama and KENN (Hibito Nanba from Uchuu Kyoudai) as Akihito Kanbara leading the cast.

The two Kyoukai no Kanata -I’ll Be Here- films will be releasing in Japanese theatres this Spring. The first film, Kyoukai no Kanata -I’ll Be Here – Kako-hen, is a compilation film releasing on March 14th, and the second is a brand new film set after the series, Kyoukai no Kanata -I’ll Be Here – Mirai-hen, releasing on April 25.

The new line of fragrances are based on the main characters of the anime.

A total of 7 fragrances are being sold based on the main characters of the series. Each purchase will come with one bottle containing 30ml of your desired fragrance, with one bottle is going for ¥5,500 (~ $46.10 USD) before tax.

The first fragrance is of the series’ main character Eren Jaeger. His aroma is a strong fresh citrus and passionate spice. This unique fragrance, which blends the spice of cardamom and Anise, and fresh citrus of lemon and grapefruit, defines the thoughts of Eren in his passion to eradicate the titans from the world.

The next fragrance is of Mikasa Ackerman, which captures her sweet cassis and rose bouquet aroma. The aroma works from its fruit cassis top before its scent mixes and moves on into the floral scents of rose, before finally getting the last hint of sweet raspberries. This captures Mikasa’s hidden feminine feelings towards Eren, which gives her strength and composure.

Moving on to the next product is Levi, a soft yet fresh soap with floral “noat” aroma. The fresh soap gives off the scent of cleanliness with the floral smell of lotus that changes into a scene of a calm cedar wood. In conjunction with Levi’s great combat career and being touted as the strongest man, his character is obsessed with being clean, something which may be attracting someone, somewhere…

The following fragrance is based on Armin Arlert, a tender vanilla aroma that expels willpower. The vanilla aroma brings out Armin’s strength of being kind and strong willed and is blended with a touch of acidity from citrus fruits, showcasing his coexistence in making tough decisions as a friendly young man.

The next fragrance is an aroma of a fresh green and youthful wood of Jean Kirstein. A combination of orange citrus, bergamot, lavender, sandalwood and a spicy wood scent. Jean is a young energetic man who has witnessed the harsh realities and chose to fight, even though he questions his actions.

Hanji Zoe is the next fragrance described as bitter and mysterious herb. This aroma combination describes Hanji’s passion with expanding the knowledge of the titans, a complex mix of wormwood, citrus and floral, and a vanilla scent, rounding off the weird titan loving character.

The Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) series was created by Hajime Isayama. It started off as a manga in 2009 and is published in Kodansha’s monthly Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. To date there has been 14 compiled volumes of the manga. A prequel light novel adaptation started in 2011, and two spin-off manga started serialization in 2012: Shingeki no Kyojin: Before the Fall and Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou. In April 2013 the series was picked up for an anime adaptation. The anime series was produced by the newly formed Wit Studios. The series has grown in popularity since the anime’s debut, with the manga selling over 36 million copies as of April this year. Two live action film adaptations will be releasing in Japan next year. The first images for the live-action 2015 Attack on Titan film were also earlier released.

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a colossal titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.

This new anime is part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Durarara!! series, which began as a light novel series in 2004 published by ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko. The original light novels ended in January this year, but the creator of the series Ryohgo Narita, has stated that he will be begin a new series of light novels titled Durarara!! SH, set two years after the original’s conclusion. The first issue will release on April 10th. The light novels received an anime adaptation in 2010 from animation studio Brains Base. In addition, two manga adaptations were also released and a few visual novels. To date the light novels has a total of 13 volumes. and are illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda.

A manga adaptation by Akiyo Satorigi started serialization in the shounen manga magazine Monthly GFantasy on April 18, 2009. An anime adaptation began airing in Japan in January 2010. Two games based on the series for the PlayStation Portable were released, and a game for PlayStation Vita was released on June 19, 2014 in Japan.

Attack on Aqua Clara

A collaboration between Japanese water cooler manufacturer Aqua Clara and Attack on Titan launched today. Attack on Titan-themed “Hydration Corps” are being rented out with a monthly refill and maintenance fee of 1,500 yen ($12.65).

You can swap out the panels on their “Dress-Up Server” cooler models with panels featuring a Attack on Titan visual, Levi, or the Colossal Titan which are being sold for 8,000 yen ($67) each:

Each machine has a RO filter and an anti-bacterial ultraviolet lamp for purification, a water-heating feature for tea, and a built-in digital clock.

Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? X Kiniro Mosaic Collaboration Teaser

With the second season of Yui Hara’s schoolgirl comedy Kiniro Mosaic manga scheduled for a spring debut and the second season of Koi’s 4-panel comedy manga series Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? in the works, the two manga Time Kirarara Max cute girl manga announced Hopping Festival collaboration earlier this month. News that the crossover will be rolled out across Animate anime character goods stores this spring was accompanied by a new visual.

Kotori Koiwai to Voice Fuu for Nisekoi Season 2

This year’s 14th issue of Shueisha’s Shonen Jump magazine will be announcing on Monday that Kotori Koiwai (Renge Miyauchi from Non Non Biyori) will join the cast of the second season anime adaptation of Naoshi Komi’s Nisekoi manga as Fuu.

A brand new visual for the second season anime adaptation of Naoshi Komi’s Nisekoi manga was also revealed in the latest issue of Gigazine and Animate TV’s Anime Guide. Nisekoi Season 2 will be airing this April.

The anime’s second season will feature the debut of Haru Onodera, Kosaki Onodera’s younger sister, voiced by Ayane Sakura (Natsumi Koshigaya from Non Non Biyori). The website released the first visual for Haru:

Nisekoi is a manga series that originally started off as a one shot from Naoshi Komi that released in January 2011. Komi then released the manga as a full series later on in the year, when it appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Since 2011, 12 volumes have been released for the romantic comedy. Additionally a voiced comic has also been published and a light novel series. Viz Manga has also picked up the series late 2013 for English localisation, announcing that the chapters would be translated and released in Viz’s Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha. A anime adaptation of the manga aired from January this year and ended in May. The anime is produced by studio Shaft (Bakemonogatari, Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica).

Nisekoi synopsis from Haruhichan:

“Raku Ichijou is an average high school student. He also happens to be the sole heir to the head of a Yakuza Family called the Shuei-gumi. Ten years ago, Raku made a promise… a secret promise with a girl he met. They promised one another that they will “get married when they reunite.” Since then, Raku never let go of the pendant the girl gave him.

Then one day, a beautiful girl named Chitoge Kirisaki transfers into Raku’s class. Their chemistry was more than off. There was not a moment where they were not fighting. But by a weird turn of events, Raku and Chitoge agree to become fake lovers. Although his heart is really interested in his classmate Kosaki Onodera, Raku must continue pretending to be Chitoge’s boyfriend.”

The second season of the Nisekoi anime will be airing this April, during the Spring 2015 anime season. Further information about the series will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

Milky Holmes Movie Is Possible but Needs Help from Fans

The official website for the Tantei Kageki Milky Holmes TD TV anime has confirmed that a project for a possible anime film has been launched. It was officially revealed in a special edition of “Miru Miru Milky“, the live-broadcasting program on Nico Nico which was streamed last night.

They also revealed that the film needs supports from the fans to realize its production. This means that the film hasn’t gotten greenlit for production yet. More details about the content of the support will be revealed on the official website soon.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes is a media franchise owned by the Japanese trading card game company Bushiroad. The first release was an Internet radio drama, released in December 2009. An anime adaptation by J.C.Staff aired between October and December 2010, with a special episode aired on August 26, 2011. The second anime season aired between January and March 2012 with another special aired on August 25, 2012. A third series, titled Futari wa Milky Holmes, aired between July and September 2013. A fourth series titled Tantei Kageki Milky Holmes TD is scheduled to air from January 2015.
