Animedia-Magazine-December-2015-anime-aikatsu

Aikatsu! is an arcade collectible card game in Bandai’s Data Carddass line of machines, which launched in October 2012. The game revolves around using collectible cards featuring various clothes to help aspiring idols pass auditions. An anime adaptation by Sunrise began airing on TV Tokyo from October 8, 2012. A film adaptation was released in December 2014. Three manga adaptations have been published by Shogakukan, along with three Nintendo 3DS games published by Bandai Namco Games.

Aikatsu! synopsis from Haruhichan:

Ichigo Hoshimiya is a regular, ordinary middle school girl. But when her best friend, Aoi, invites her to join the idol training academy, Starlight Academy, her whole world is turned upside down. As she encounters all kinds of rivals and learns what it takes to be an idol, she uses her Aikatsu Cards to challenge countless auditions.

Ray Gigant, Adventures of Mana Suspiciously Trademarked in Europe

2

Only a little over a week since the news came out that Square Enix registered trademarks for their mysterious Shinra Game System, two more trademarks have been spotted on the European OHIM database for two, possibly upcoming, PlayStation Vita releases.

Vita fans have quite a bit to get excited for with Square Enix registering a trademark for, supposedly, the remake of the very first Seiken Densetsu JRPG popping up under the name Adventures of Mana which was formally announced back in September.

PlayStation-Vita-Trademark-1

Originally released in 1991 for the Game Boy, Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden released as Final Fantasy Adventure in North America and Mystic Quest in Europe. It’s worth noting that, despite this initial titling, the sequel, Seiken Densetsu 2, went on to be known as Secret of Mana outside of Japan.

Furthermore, Ray Gigant, a dungeon-crawling JRPG from Demon Gaze-developer Experience, has been filed for a trademark by Bandai Namco.

PlayStation-Vita-Trademark-2

Adventures of Mana has not yet been released in Japan for PlayStation Vita, Android, and iOS, but Ray Gigant received a PlayStation Vita-only release back in July of this year.

While we haven’t seen a glimmer of God Eater 2: Rage Burst‘s localization since a trademark was spotted back in January, it’s exciting to see some publishers still care about the PlayStation Vita in the Western market.

Girls und Panzer is a 2012 Japanese anime television series created by Actas. It depicts a competition between girls’ high schools practicing tank warfare as a sport. The series was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and produced by Kiyoshi Sugiyama. Takaaki Suzuki, who has earlier acted as a military history advisor for Strike Witches and Upotte!!, was involved in the production of the anime. The series initially aired in Japan between October and December 2012, with two additional episodes airing in March 2013 and an original video animation released in July 2014. Five manga series and a light novel adaptation have been published by Media Factory. An animated film had been announced for release in 2014, however was pushed back to Q2 2015.

Here is a synopsis of the series from Haruhichan:

You may have heard of kung fu, but the girls at Oarai High School practice gun-fu—really, really BIG 75mm gun-fu, in fact. It’s called Sensha-do, and it’s the martial art of operating armored tanks! They take it seriously too, and since winning the national Sensha-do championship is such a huge deal at Oarai, they sometimes go to extreme ends in order to get the best students from Panzer class to sign up. Which is how Miho Nishizumi, who HATES operating tanks, gets drafted to join doomsday-driven driver Mako, even-triggered gunner Hana, highly receptive radio operator Saori and combustible tank-fangirl and loader Yukari as the incomparable Anko Team. They may not be on the half-track to fame and fortune, and maybe a few of them would rather shop for tank tops than become tops in tanks, but once their focus is locked and loaded, they’re absolutely driven.

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (Gate: The Self-Defense Forces Fight Like This in Another Land) is a Japanese light novel series written by Takumi Yanai and originally illustrated by Daisuke Izuka. AlphaPolis published five volumes and three side-story collections from April 2010 to April 2014. AlphaPolis began publishing an expanded edition of the main series with illustrations by Kuroshishi in December 2012. A manga adaptation illustrated by Satoru Sao began in July 2011. An anime television series has been announced.

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri synopsis from Haruhichan:

In August of 20XX, a portal to a parallel world, known as the “Gate,” suddenly appeared in Ginza, Tokyo. Monsters and troops poured out of the portal, turning the shopping district into a bloody inferno.

The Japan Ground-Self Defence Force immediately took action and pushed the fantasy creatures back to the “Gate.” To facilitate negotiations and prepare for future fights, the JGSDF dispatched the Third Reconnaissance Team to the “Special Region” at the other side of the Gate.

Youji Itami, a JSDF officer as well as a 33-year-old otaku, was appointed as the leader of the Team. Amid attacks from enemy troops the team visited a variety of places and learnt a lot about the local culture and geography.

Thanks to their efforts in humanitarian relief, although with some difficulties they were gradually able to reach out to the locals. They even had a cute elf, a sorceress and a demigoddess in their circle of new friends. On the other hand, the major powers outside the Gate such as the United States,China and Russia were extremely interested in the abundant resources available in the Special Region. They began to exert diplomatic pressure over Japan.

A suddenly appearing portal to an unknown world—to the major powers it may be no more than a mere asset for toppling the international order. But to our protagonists it is an invaluable opportunity to broaden knowledge, friendship, and ultimately their perspective towards the world.

One Piece Anime Gets December Winter Special

1

The official website for the anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga series has revealed that One Piece will be receiving a new TV anime special on December 19 titled One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~. The special will be the anime’s first winter special and will air on December 19 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:10 p.m. on Fuji TV.

The special will have a new and completely original story that will take place on a “Devil Fruit blocking” fog island in the New World that keeps Devil Fruit users from being able to use their powers. The crew will also again meet and have a rematch with the Foxy Pirates from the Davy Back Fight arc. Foxy now has three new subordinates: Doujack, Kanshou, and Koumei, the latter of whom is a member of a family of genius tacticians.

Koumei devises a plan where Zoro and Sanji take part in an eating contest, and the two eat a strange “good-for-nothing-only” mushroom that turns them into good-for-nothing men. The two are then locked in a jail cell. When the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates chase after their imprisoned crew, they land on the island of Nevlandia, which features a mysterious fog made from sea water, and it has the same effects as seastone. The Straw Hat Pirates’ arrival on Nevlandia is also a part of Koumei’s plan.

The special will be directed by Konosuke Uda who directed episodes 1-278 of One Piece, One Piece Movie 4: Dead End and One Piece Movie 7: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle.

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump since July 19, 1997; the individual chapters are being published in tankoubon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997, and the 75th volume released as of September 2014. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as One Piece in order to become the next Pirate King.

The chapters have been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999. Since then, the still continuing series has aired over 672 episodes. Additionally, Toei has developed thirteen animated feature films, two OVA’s, and five television specials.

One Piece has received wide critical acclaim, primarily for its art, characterization, humor and story. Several volumes of the manga have broken publishing records, including highest initial print run of any book in Japan and the first book to sell over three million copies in Oricon history. As of 2013, the series had over 345 million volumes in circulation worldwide, making it the best-selling manga series in history.

One Piece synopsis from Haruhichan:

Gol D. Roger was known as the Pirate King, the strongest and most infamous being to have sailed the Grand Line. The capture and death of Roger by the World Government brought a change throughout the world. His last words before his death revealed the location of the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece. It was this revelation that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates, men who dreamed of finding One Piece(which promises an unlimited amount of riches and fame), and quite possibly the most coveted of titles for the person who found it, the title of the Pirate King.

Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.

Nobuo Uematsu Isn’t Composing for the Final Fantasy VII Remake

0

Uemastsu, who composed the soundtrack for the original Final Fantasy VII, was asked in an interview with French video game publication Jeuxvideo, whether or not he would be working on the remake, to which he responded, “Not at all.” It is a shame to see that he will not be returning to Square Enix’s team to enchant the world yet again with his talents in the remake, but perhaps he will guide the composer that will take his place, whether it be through notes, or being on site with the replacement assisting them in getting the original feel, with their own added twist. Either way, the show must go on, and although fans will grieve over this, there will still be hope that the rest of the remake will be just as magical as it was playing the original for the very first time.

Here is an extremely memorable piece by Uematsu:
