Surprisingly, Rokka no Yuusha made it to #1 this week but I think it was justified with Adlet kicking Nashetania’s face. Classroom Crisis made a significant boost by crawling into the Top 5. However, Charlotte dropped three ranks with a rather slow episode but the atmosphere got really dark and bloody. Lastly, Gangsta. is beginning to slip in the Top 10 while Ushio to Tora begins to get some deserved attention by taking #8 this week.

New Death Note Live Action Movie Release Date Slated for 2016

2

Following the conclusion of the countdown on the live action Death Note website, Warner Bros. Japan have unveiled that a brand new live-action Death Note movie is being produced and slated 2016.

New Death Note Live Action Movie Release Date Slated for 2016

The announcement trailer for the movie was revealed at the conclusion of Death Note‘s live action TV drama:

The 2016 film will be a sequel to the three previous live-action films, Death Note, L: Change the World and Death Note: The Last Name and will feature a theme of “6”. The site mentions that only 6 Death Notes may exist in the human world at once and that only 6 shinigamis can only exist in the human world. The rule itself was previously mentioned in the original manga, but has not been used in any of the adaptations.

Death Note synpsis from Haruhichan:

Yagami Light is a 17-year-old genius from Japan who is tired of his life, school, and the state of the world as he knows it. One day, on the way home from class, Light stumbles upon a dark notebook with “Death Note” written on the front. Intrigued by its appearance, Light reads the first few sentences, only to find out that it states that anyone whose name is written inside will die. Discarding it as a joke, Light continues his daily activities. Soon after though, his human curiosity takes the better of him and prompts Light to try the notebook, discovering the truth behind the first sentence. Now, with power in his hands, Yagami Light is on a quest to change the world and become God of the New World. His path to holy status won’t be easy however, as another genius, known as L, is working against Light’s beliefs and Light himself. Who will win this power of Gods between humans?

Death Note is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The story follows Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook from a shinigami named Ryuk that grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose name and face they know. The series centers around Light’s subsequent attempts to create and rule a world “cleansed of evil” as “God” using the notebook, and the efforts of a detective known as L to stop him.

Death Note was first serialized in Shueisha’s manga magazine Weekly Shounen Jump from December 2003 to May 2006. The 108 chapters were collected and published into 12 tankōbon volumes between May 2004 and October 2006. A television anime adaptation aired in Japan from October 3, 2006, to June 26, 2007. Composed of 37 episodes, the anime was developed by Madhouse and directed by Tetsuro Araki. A light novel based on the series, written by Nisio Isin, was also released in 2006. Additionally, various video games have been published by Konami for the Nintendo DS. The series was adapted into three live-action films released in Japan on June 17, 2006, November 3, 2006, and February 2, 2008.

The countdown on the website will end on September 13th at 10:30pm JST. Whether it is a remake, sequel, prequel or a spin-off movie, all will be revealed on Sunday.

Otaku Sakamichi Onoda has just entered high school and plans to join the anime club. In middle school, Onoda didn’t have any friends with whom he could talk about anime, games, Akihabara and other otaku things, and he is hoping he can make such friends in the anime club, but he finds out it’s been disbanded. In order to reestablish the club he tries to find 4 other people who would like to join.Since he was a little boy, Onoda has ridden his mamachari—a bulky bicycle with a step-through frame mainly used for short rides, such as for casual fun or to pick up groceries—to go to Akihabara every week to check out or buy otaku things. Fellow freshman Shunsuke Imaizumi and bicyclist, while training, notices a boy (Onoda) riding his mamchari up a steep road.

Freshman and road racing cyclist, Shokichi Naruko visits Akihabara to get some Gundam plastic models for his younger brothers and meets Onoda who catches his attention because of the his cycling skill on the mamachari and later find out they go to the same school. Later on, both Naruko and Imaizumi try to convince him to join the bicycle racing club, but will he?

Kotobukiya Shiro Figure Getting Re-Released

5

Up until recently if you wanted a Proper scaled figure of Shiro from No Game No Life you really only had 3 options: wait for Phat’s upcoming 1/7 scale, buy Kotobukiya’s 1/7 scale at a ridiculous post-market price, or buy a bootleg version of Koto’s scale. Unfortunately both versions of the Koto scale seemed to have prices that were very alarming in different ways.

No Game No Life Shrio Rerelease 08
The price between after-market and bootleg prices is extreme

Luckily for everyone who was a fan of Kotobukiya’s version of Shiro they have decided to do a second manufacturing run of their version of the figure, which is going to retail in February of 2016 at the original price of 11,000 yen (about 91 USD). To get a better look at the figure the release photos from Kotobukiya are shown below.

No Game No Life Shrio Rerelease 01 No Game No Life Shrio Rerelease 02 No Game No Life Shrio Rerelease 03

However, this re-release from Kotobukiya raises questions of whether or not the manufacturer will fix some of the quality control issues that seemed to plague the original release. The photos from MFC user hitsun, showcased below, show many of the problems that several consumers seemed to be reporting with their Shiro, namely less than stellar quality of the paint on her hair.

While those tiny little painting errors may seem to not be a big deal, when you are spending around 90 USD plus shipping on a product you want it to be without any obvious defects like that. So while the re-release of the Kotobukiya figure will be great news for those who fell in love with the design, the errors of the previous release may scare potential buyers onto other Shiro figures. Speaking of which if you are not a fan of either of the two figures of Shiro currently available, manufacturer Aquamarine showcased a swimsuit version of Shiro at this years summer WonFes, although no more information has come out concerning the figure.

All in all the good news to take from this is that if you are a fan of Shiro or the series in general you now have more affordable and diverse figure options, now if only a proper Jibril figure were to be announced…
