Love Live! Sunshine!! Announced – Possible New Anime?

The official website of Dengeki G’s magazine has revealed a new image teasing a new project titled Love Live! Sunshine!! A new image has been revealed featuring a new anime character in an unfamiliar uniform with the words “Help, Love Live!” Further details about the announcement have not been revealed, including whether it will be a new anime series or not.

The page for the announcement itself calls the new announcement Love Live! Sunshine!! Start, and notes that it is coming soon. The site also reveals that more information about Love Live! Sunshine!! will be revealed in the April issue of Dengeki G’s magazine, releasing on the 28th.

Love Live! School Idol Project is an original anime produced by Sunrise studios that aired in January 2013. The conception of the anime project was started in 2010 by Dengeki G’s Magazine. The editors wanted parts of the project to be heavily influenced by fans, parts such as the costumes, hairstyles and names of the idols. While this project was taking place, a manga of the project called Love Live!, written and illustrated by Sakurako Kimino and Arumi Tokita, began serializing. An anime series soon premiered, followed by an app and an OVA. The second season titled Love Live! School Idol Project 2nd Season aired from April 6, 2014 to June 29, 2014 for a total of 13 episodes.

Love Live! School Idol Project synopsis of the series from Haruhichan:

Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara—a pop culture mecca that’s evolving by the minute; Kanda—a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo—a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students.

With the school planning to close within three years, nine female students come together with one thing in mind—form a pop idol group to revive the school’s popularity and keep it from shutting down. “In order to protect our beloved school, there’s only one thing we can do… become pop stars!”

Not much is currently known about Love Live! Sunshine!! It could be a new anime series, a new mobile card game, a PlayStation Vita title or even a banner image for a new radio. Regardless, all will be revealed in the next issue of Dengeki G’s magazine, releasing on the 28th.

Fairy Tail Author Hiro Mashima Draws Jack Bauer from 24: Live Another Day

To help promote the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release of 24: Live Another Day in Japan on March 4, Hiro Mashima, best known as the author of the Fairy Tail manga series, has provided a newly drawn illustration of Jack Bauer, the protagonist of the series played by Kiefer Sutherland. Hiro Mashima is reported to be a big fan of the American television series.

This illustration will be published in the 14th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine to be released on the same day with the DVD/Blu-ray. It will also be displayed as posters and POPs at the DVD/Blu-ray rental stores across Japan.

The illustration was likely inspired by this image of Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer:

Durarara!!x2 Shou Episode 4.5 Scheduled for Theatrical Screenings in May

The official website for the TV anime adaptation of Durarara!! has revealed that the ongoing anime Durarara!!x2 Shou will have a side-story special which will be previewed at screenings in several theaters on May 30, 2015. It will also be released with the sixth Blu-ray and DVD volume of Durarara!!x2 Shou on July 22, 2015.

The special is based on a short story “Watashi no Kokoro wa Nabe Moyou” (My heart shows signs of nabe), which was included in one of the stories in the spin-off light novel Durarara!! Gaiden?! published in August 2014 in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the novel series written by Ryohgo Narita.

Ryuugamine Mikado has always longed for the excitement of the city life, and an invitation from a childhood friend convinces him to move to Tokyo. A Preview of the OP & ED of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san F

A brand new video has been revealed for the recently announced OVA of Manta Aisora and Koin’s Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (Nyaruko: Crawling with Love) light novel series, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san F. The video previews the main theme songs of the anime, the OP will be Haiyore Once Nyagain by Ushiro kara Haiyori-tai Gand and the ED being Kitto Engage performed by RAMM ni Haiyoru Nyaruko-san. The OVA will be animated by Xebec (To Love-Ru , Rio: Rainbow Gate!) once again, though no other staff members were revealed. The anime will feature the return of main cast from previous seasons, including: Kana Asumi (Yuno from Hidamari Sketch) as Nyaruko, Eri Kitamura (Sayaka Miki in Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica) as and Miyu Matsuki (Yoshinoya in Hidamari Sketch) as Cthuko.

The OP and ED of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san F will be going on sale from May 8th and will cost ¥1,200 (~ $10.00 USD). The OVA itself will be releasing in Japan later this year.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, is a Japanese light novel series written by Manta Aisora and illustrated by Koin. It was inspired by H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. The series’ twelve volumes were published by Soft Bank Creative under their GA Bunko imprint between April 2009 and March 2014. A flash-animated original video animation (OVA) by DLE titled Haiyoru! Nyaruani was published in between October 2009 and March 2010, followed by a television series, Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Mr. Lovecraft, which aired in Japan between December 2010 and February 2011. An anime television series by Xebec aired in Japan between April and June 2012 and a second season aired between April and June 2013. Two manga adaptations have been produced. A video game adaptation, developed by 5pb. for PlayStation Vita was released in Japan on May 30, 2013.

Owari no Seraph Air Date, Third Visual and More Cast Revealed

The official website for the anime adaptation of Takaya Kagami’s dark fantasy manga Owari no Seraph (Seraph of the End) has revealed that the series will premiere on April 4, 2015. The website also revealed the opening theme song will be performed by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Gemie and titled X.U. while the ending theme song will be titled scaPEGoat by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Yosh. The single is scheduled for release on May 20.

Owari no Seraph (Seraph of the End) is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written by Takaya Kagami and illustrated by Yamato Yamamoto with storyboards by Daisuke Furuya. It is published by Shueisha on Jump Square and in English by Viz Media on Weekly Shonen Jump. Takaya Kagami and Yamato Yamamoto launched the dark fantasy series in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine in fall 2012. Shueisha published the sixth volume on September 4, and new volumes have regularly ranked on Oricon’s top 50 chart. An anime adaption was announced on August 28, 2014.

One day, a mysterious virus appeared on Earth which killed every infected human over the age of 13. At the same time, vampires emerged from the world’s dark recesses and enslaved mankind. The musical will cover the manga’s story from the first to 27th volume. The production will include drama, songs, dance, and acrobatics.

The musical will run from March 21 to April 5 in the AiiA Theater Tokyo, followed by performances in Fukuoka (April 10-12), Osaka (April 17-19), Miyagi (April 23-25), and then Tokyo again (April 29-May 10). Dates for overseas shows were also revealed. The musical opens in Macau’s Venetian Theatre from May 22 to 24, in Malaysia’s Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre from May 30 to 31, and in Singapore’s Resort World Theater from June 6 to 7.

Urawa no Usagi-chan Air Date, Character Designs and Staff Unveiled

It was revealed on the official website for the original anime, Urawa no Usagi-chan, that it will premiere on April 9, 2015. The anime will be airing every Thursdays, 1:35 am on TV Saitama (Teletama) channel.

The anime was announced on Anitamasai (abbreviated as Anime and Manga Matsuri in Saitama; a Saitama-based anime and manga festival/convention) that was held on October 11 & 12, 2014. The anime is to advertise Urawa City in Saitama, Japan. And the characters of the series will be named after many places of the city.

The official website of the anticipated upcoming anime adaptation of Nagaru Tanigawa and Puyo’s The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan (The Vanishing of Nagato Yuki-Chan) has announced the anime’s air date: April 3 at 25:40 (effectively April 4 at 1:40am JST).

The anime adaptation of the spin-off manga was made late last year. Anime store Docomo was revealed to be streaming the upcoming series, as well as the two other spin-off shows in the Haruhi franchise, The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron Churuya-san.

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan is a spin-off manga in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya franchise, where it stars the eponymous character Yuki Nagato. The series takes place in the alternate universe established in The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. The series is written and drawn by Puyo, which started in February 2010. To date, the series has a total of 5 volumes with the 6th volume releasing on December 26th this year.

There is very little information regarding the anime announcement of The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, including whether or no Kyoto Animation will produce it. Two other spin-off manga were also produced into anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron Churuya-san.

Gintama’s New Anime Series Will Premiere on April 8

The official website for the highly anticipated upcoming new TV anime series based on Hideaki Sorachi’s action comedy manga Gintama has revealed that it will premiere at 18:00 on April 8 (JST). The site also revealed that Blue Encount will perform the opening theme Day x Day, while Negoto will performing the ending theme Destiny.

Gintama, is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi and serialized, beginning on December 8, 2003, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Set in Edo which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto, the plot follows life from the point of view of samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura in order to pay the monthly rent. Sorachi added the science fiction setting to develop characters to his liking after his editor suggested doing a historical series.

The series has been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) by Sunrise and was featured at Jump Festa 2006 Anime Tour in 2005. This was followed by a full anime series titled Gintama that premiered in 2006 and continued until 2010. After a small hiatus, Gintama returned under the name Gintama (2011) and aired until March 26, 2012 with a total of 51 episodes. After another small hiatus, Gintama returned under the name Gintama’ Enchousen with a total of 13 episodes which aired from October 4, 2012 to March 28th, 2013. It also inspired two movies, Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen and Gintama: Kanketsu-hen – Yorozuya yo Eien Nare. Weekly Shonen Jump’s 33rd issue had teased that the manga is celebrating over a decade of serialization with “OOO” (an unrevealed term that can be spelled with three Japanese syllables).

Life isn’t easy in feudal Japan… especially since the aliens landed and conquered everything! Oh sure, the new health care is great, but the public ban on the use of swords has left a lot of defeated samurai with a difficult decision to make concerning their future career paths! This is especially true if, as in the case of Gintoki Sakata, they’re not particularly inclined towards holding a day job, which is why Gintoki’s opted for the freelance route, taking any job that’s offered to him as long as the financial remuneration sounds right. Unfortunately, in a brave new world filled with stray bug-eyed monsters, upwardly mobile Yakuza and overly ambitious E.T. entrepreneurs, those jobs usually don’t pay as well as they should for the pain, suffering and indignities endured!
