Sword Art Online II synopsis from Haruhichan:

One year after the SAO incident, Kirito is approached by Seijiro Kikuoka from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Department “VR Division” with a rather peculiar request.

That was an investigation on the “Death Gun” incident that occurred in the gun and steel filled VRMMO called Gun Gale Online (GGO). “Players who are shot by a mysterious avatar with a jet black gun lose their lives even in the real world…” Failing to turn down Kikuoka’s bizarre request, Kirito logs in to GGO even though he is not completely convinced that the virtual world could physically affect the real world.

Kirito wanders in an unfamiliar world in order to gain any clues about the “Death Gun.” Then, a female sniper named Sinon who owns a gigantic “Hecate II” rifle extends Kirito a helping hand. With Sinon’s help, Kirito decides to enter the “Bullet of Bullets,” a large tournament to choose the most powerful gunner within the realm of GGO, in hopes to become the target of the “Death Gun” and make direct contact with the mysterious avatar.

Best Fighting Scenes: Fate/Stay Night (2014) vs Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma☆Illya

2

We have a very different set of comparisons today, this time of ufotable’s Fate/stay night (2014) and Silver Link’s 2013 anime adaptation of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya. udotable is well known for producing high quality animation across the board on all their series, especially their adaptations of Type-Moon’s Fate series. On the flipside, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is a spin-off manga of the Fate/stay night Visual Novel by Hiroshi Hiroyama that features the main girls from the main series as little magical girls. And we will be comparing the two series in the best way possible, their fighting scenes.

The two series are quite the opposite in their themes and main style of presentation (with one focusing on little girls), but there are valid comparisons between the two. We have on the left, gifs from fighting scenes of ufotable’s Fate/stay night (2014), and on the right some fight scene gifs from Silver Link’s Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya.

Fate/stay night is a visual novel released by Type-Moon for the PC in 2004, and is the first in their Fate series. The visual novel was very successful and claimed the title of highest selling visual novel in that year. 2006 saw two adaptations of the game, a manga by Datto Nishiwaki and an anime series by Studio Deen. Additionally in that year, a light novel series titled Fate/Zero was written by Gen Urobuchi. It is a prequel to the visual novels, set 10 years prior. An anime and manga adaptation of Fate/Zero were created, with the manga written by Urobuchi himself in 2011 and the anime being animated by ufotable. A second season of Fate/Zero was also produced.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is a spin off manga series from Type-Moon’s Fate/stay night franchise by Hiroshi Hiroyama. The manga follows Illyasviel von Einzbern in an alternate universe where she is a magical girl. The manga original released in 2007 in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace magazine. A sequel series Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei! released in 2009 and another titled Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 3wei! released in 2012. The anime adaptation of the first manga series aired in June last year and was produced by Silver Link. The first Blu-ray release of the anime will contain a new short.

Fate/stay night (2014) is currently airing this Fall/Autumn 2014 anime season on Thursdays at midnight (effectively Friday). A third season of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, titled Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei Herz!, was previously announced and will air next year.

Hyperdimension Neptunia News – Re;Birth3, Victory II, and Popularity Poll

0

Recently Idea Factory, the creators behind the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, as well as the Agarest series, celebrated their 20th anniversary. In celebration they were featured very prominently in Dengeki magazine at the end of October. Contained within this edition was a lot of news on the next Hyperdimension Neptunia games in Japan: 神次次元ゲイムネプテューヌ Re;Birth3: V Century (Kamijijigen Game Neptune Re;Birth3: V Century) and 新次元ゲイムネプテューヌ VII (Shinjigen Game Neptune: Victory II).

*For the ease of writing this out, the likelihood of these games being called Hyperdimension Neptunia is high, so I’ll use those names.

For those who don’t know about the series, you can get caught up here.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 Announced Haruhichan.com

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Century is a remake of the third game in the series, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory. It was announced at the 2014 Tokyo Game Show. It follows the same general story and gameplay of the original game while combining new elements found in the previous two Re;Birth games. The game takes place in 1989, in a world similar to that of 1989 in the real world. Nintendo is an established country, Sega is just getting started and Sony has ambitions.

The series’ main protagonist, Neptune, is out on a quest one day when she encounters a shy and timid girl. Suddenly, the girl pulls out an item – the item bursts open and a portal to another dimension opens up. Neptune is sucked into the portal and she is taken to 1989 Gamindustri. In this new dimension, she discovers an alternate world to her own. She meets Plutia/Pururut, her Planeptune counterpart, as well as parallel Noire. Neptune’s immediate objective is to find her way back to her own dimension. She has to find a way to do so soon, because a civilian protest against the goddesses is starting to pick up steam, and threatens to oust the goddesses from their jobs.

The game releases on December 18 in Japan for the Playstation Vita system. For the first time in the series, this game will feature a rundown of the series, just in case you missed out on the other games.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II Logo Title Haruhichan.com

In addition to news on Re;Birth3, Idea Factory also dropped news on the upcoming continuation of the series in Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II. Ever since its announcement in April of this year, Idea Factory has been slow with its news of this game. They have slowly trickled out trailers over the past few months that detail more of the game, but it was never really clear until now what the plan was for this game.

The story of Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II begins in the same kind of way that Victory/Re;Birth3 does. Neptune finds a machine on the ground one day that looks mysteriously like a Sega Dremcast console, and she brings it home to Nepgear. The machine breaks open and a portal to another dimension opens up. Neptune and Nepgear are sucked in and when they arrive in the new dimension they come across a girl named Uzume Tennohsei. After explaining that they mean no harm to her, Neptune and Nepgear decide to explore this new dimension with Uzume, and see if they can return back to their world.

Following in the footsteps of Fairy Fencer F, Victory II has new gameplay elements that were not previously seen in the series. The EXE Drive Gauge that was previously used in Victory and the Re;Birth games returns, but now no longer holds charges from battle to battle. It will perform the same function as before, but it now fills up faster in combat. The series has been using a sort of squad-based tactical battle system but positioning has never really mattered much except for perhaps spreading out to avoid AoE attacks. Now, where the characters are positioned on the battlefield will affect certain attributes. Also, taking a page out of Fairy Fencer F‘s book, certain weapons will now have a certain number of hits and range. The game was originally planned to be three games, but they decided to group all of their ideas for those three games into this one. There are three dimensions to explore in this game, which vastly increases the world size.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II was originally announced for release this year. However, this announcement has the game pushed back until Spring 2015. The game will feature the “Neptunia Team” of Compile Heart has the developers, and Tsunako (Hyperdimension Neptunia, Date A Live) is returning to do the art for the game once again.

In addition to talking about Re;Birth3 and Victory II, there was also a discussion on the future of the series. There is currently a “Gamindustri election” going on to decide on the protagonist of the next spin-off game. There was a previous popularity poll back in 2011 after Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 released. The winner of that popularity poll, Noire, got her own game, Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, that released in Japan last year, and will be making its way West in Q1 2015. Fans can vote on their favourite character once a day, until December 4 when the poll closes. You can find it here.

The Hyperdimension Neptunia series looks like it has a bright future ahead of it. What do you guys think of this news? Let this crazy fan know in the comments below!

Witch Craft Works Album Cover Art Is Inspired by Kraftwerk

0

It’s always nice when real life people influence anime creators, or vice versa. In this case, various Witch Craft Works album covers have been inspired by and pay tribute to German electronic music band Kraftwerk.

The cover for the Witch Craft Works Character Song Album looks identical to the album cover of Kraftwerk’s 1977 album Trans-Europe Express.

While the cover of the single for the ending theme Witch Activity looks suspiciously like the album cover of Kraftwerk’s 1978 album The Man-Machine.

and finally, the cover for the Witch Craft Works Original Soundtrack is the same as Kraftwerk’s 1974 breakthrough album, Autobahn.

This reminds me of when Cromartie High School was also inspired by various music artists’ covers for the DVD volume covers:

Cromartie High School DVD volume 1 cover was inspired by the second album Queen released in 1974, Queen II.

Cromartie High School DVD volume 2 cover was inspired by The Beatles’ 1963 album Please Please Me.

Cromartie High School DVD volume 3 cover was inspired by Sailin’ Shoes, the second studio album by the American rock band Little Feat, released in 1972.

Last but not least, Cromartie High School DVD volume 4 cover was inspired by Deep Purple’s fourth album Deep Purple in Rock which was released in 1970.

We hope that you at like the list! I, personally, like short anime shows because they’re quick to watch and enjoyable. Other people may think of these shows as shallow and boring, but why not give it a try? Anime also serves as a quick relief from all the stresses we worked for a day. It’s fun to be positive and take a short break. Don’t forget to eat during your breaks too!

Senyuu, Teekyuu, Gakkatsu!! and Turning Girls are my favorite. Are there any more short anime shows (less than fifteen minutes and more than 1 episodes) that you would recommend? Or any of these shows that you like? Drop them at the comments section below!

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past two years well it wouldn’t matter because you’d probably still have heard of Wit Studio’s Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan). If the thought of stepping on LEGOs wasn’t already bad enough imagine if the tables were turned and humanity lived in fear as 50ft LEGOs looked to return the favor? Brinkerhoff brings our worst fears to life with his design with a brilliant take on what a LEGO titan would look like. As you can see the t-shirt depicts a very muscular yet undeniably iconic body figure, complete with abs and a head bursting with steam.

Sakaki Ichiro’s popular light novel Outbreak Company, known in Japan as Outbreak Company: Moeru Shinryakusha, chronicles the story of Kano Shinichi, an otaku with a light novelist father and an erotic game artist mother. Shinichi has no talents whatsoever, other than his vast knowledge and understanding of “moe” and other otaku centered subjects. The Japanese government chooses him to be an ambassador of sorts to a fantasy words that can be reached through a thick forest around Mount Fuji. But Shinichi wonders if in reality, he is actually an invader. Can he help the people of this wonderful new world as well?

Outbreak Company has also inspired an anime series that aired in 2013 produced by feel. (KissxSis) and directed by Oikawa Kei (Minami-Ke: Okaeri).

Outbreak Company synopsis from Haruhichan:

Having a light novel author father and an eroge illustrator mother, Kanou Shinichi is a thoroughbred otaku. However he does not have any special power except for his broad knowledge, sharp insight, and impeccable instinct about “MOE” and its products, from manga to anime to games to light novel to figures. One day he found himself transported to a fantasy world where elves live and dragons fly. And he is given a task—not to fight monster or embark on a quest, but to enhance cultural exchange by becoming a “moe missionary” in this fantasy world! He meets a palace guard who has a bit of fujoshi taste, a half-elf maid, and the empress who is a little girl. He comes up with the idea of building a school. At first it runs as a comedy but later there are serious matters that Shinichi needs to face: ethnic discrimination, social problems, conflict with neighboring countries, sabotage by opposition elements including Japanese government, etc. Can he overcome the obstacles, successfully bring “moe” culture to the fantasy world, and help the people there as well?
