Let the review begin!
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Season 2 Officially Confirmed
This announcement is rather not too surprising since Kyoto released a small teaser two months ago featuring the words “contract renewal”, which hints at more Chuunibyou. In addition, the anime’s official website was also updated with the image below, containing the same words.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is an anime adaptation of the light novel series of the same name by Kyoto Animation. The novels entered the Kyoto Animation Awards in 2010 and received an honourable mention award. The light novel was eventually published by Kyoto Animation in June 2011 and the anime aired just last season. The anime received rather high sales and TV ratings prompting more demand for the anime series and light novel series. Here is a brief sypnosis of the anime from MAL:
Yuuta Togashi suffered from chuunibyou while he was in middle school. When he graduated, he put that dark history behind him and forgot about it… or he was supposed to. High school was smooth sailing and full of enjoyment—until the unavoidable, sad event occurs. The event that locks Yuuta into a contract with Rikka Takanashi and disrupts his desperately ordinary life.
There has been no set date or season window for the second season of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! so far. The official twitter account of Chuunibyou has not made any solid comments about a second season thus far but has mentioned that there will be a scheduled update tomorrow, so keep check on the twitter for more updates soon.
明日の夜中公式HP更新予定です。お楽しみに! #chu2koi

Figure Review: Dante – Devil May Cry
With the release of the Devil May Cry reboot, fans of the series seem to be longing for the old Dante. The white haired, pizza eating, sword swinging, gunslinging anti-hero we had all come to know and love. Having his own anime series as well as being featured as the main character in the four previous DMC games, Dante has certainly become an icon among gamers and otakus alike. He is definitely one of the most recognizable characters in the gaming world, with his own fanart and cosplayers.
Fortunately for us, high quality one stop hobby shop E2046.com has provided us with a classic Dante figure for review. First off the bat (or sword in Dante’s case) fans of the series would be pleased to know this is indeed the white haired Dante fans had grown accustomed to.
Upon looking at the figure, one is immediately struck by his trademark red overcoat. The expertly painted crimson coat – complete with detailed zippers, buttons and creases – is then contrasted by his dark pants and boots – both equally as detailed. The accuracy in the costume is perhaps the single most amazing feature in this figure, barring of course the unmatched detail shown in his weapons.
The leather holsters on his back neatly hold his trusty guns in place, ready to kick ass at a moments notice. From this angle one can see the detail in his coat and boots better, the design the coat makes on his back, the open belt, and fluttering of the coattail, not to mention the boots buckle and zip.
A back shot further allows one to absorb the detail of his costume as well a look at his hair from the back. Although not resemble the hair in the game very much, that can be excused considering the fact that the games photorealistic graphics allowed viewing of individual strands in extreme detail impossible to emulate in figures without an actual little wig. This piece seems to be more like a model based on the animated series, in which case it is certainly spot on.
A head on view allows us a glance at his sword, the blade of which looks jarringly realistic due to its paint job. The rust and chipping on the hilt from use suits the character perfectly, not to mention the detail. The skeleton hilt is undeniably badass. This view also allows a look at his torso, so conveniently uncovered to allow a view of his perfectly sculpted abs. One might be inclined to call this fan service for the girlies, but the blame of that goes to Capcom, as the character would indeed dress as such. Not that we’re complaining! Hey, what are you looking at me like that for? I-It’s not like I’d go gay for him or anything… Baka. *licks his abs*
Overall, the only thing I could complain about is the face, and the fact that he actually doesn’t look very much like the game character. The hair – however understandably – doesn’t exactly capture the original Dante look either. Having said that, he certainly does look similar to the Dante depiction in the animated series, as stated before seems to be the intended look. On the whole, excellent effort and a must have for any self respecting DmC fan.
One can pick this up here – normally for $189.99 but at a 20% discount and thus available for a relatively modest $151.99. He is 18.5 centimeters tall (about seven inches) and a kilo heavy (about 2.2lbs) There is only one model left, so you are highly implored to place your order as fast as possible. Face your demons!
Spring 2013 Quick First Impressions (Part 1)
Sorry this is quite late since I’m quite busy with reviewing for the PT Licensure exam like I said on my Spring preview. Anyhow, these are my impressions on some of the series I manage to watch on my free time and as you can see from the title there will be a Part 2 so watch out for it. Btw, those impressions below are solely based on the first episode of the series I’ve watched. Now on to the first impressions after the jump.

Meet Sylveon, a newly discovered evolution of Eevee! Eevee first appeared in the original Pokémon video games,Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Experienced Pokémon Trainers know that Eevee can evolve into seven different types, and now a new Eevee evolution with a different type has been revealed! What type is Sylveon? You’ll have to wait to find out! – from Pokemon.com
Eevee is one of the original Pokemon roster that started back in Pokemon Red and Blue, and since then, it appeared in concluding generations, gaining newly “discovered” evolutions. It can evolve using Water (Vaporeon), Thunder (Jolteon) or Fire Stones (Flareon), having a high friendship during the day (Espeon) or night (Umbreon), or leveling up near Moss (Leafeon) or Ice Rock (Glaceon).

Pokemon X & Pokemon Y will be available for the Nintendo 3DS, and are scheduled to be released worldwide this October.
Zero no Tsukaima Author Noboru Yamaguchi Passes Away
Media Factory’s MF Bunko J Editor-in-Chief Taiji Misaka announced on Wednesday that Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) author Noboru Yamaguchi (ヤマグチノボル) passed away on April 4th after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 41 years old.
Yamaguchi was writing game scenarios when he made his novel-writing debut in 2000 through the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. He then published the first volume of his most famous work, the Zero no Tsukaima light novel series, through the MF Bunko J imprint in 2004. The series eventually amassed 20 main volumes, five side story volumes, and four anime seasons.

Yamaguchi had confirmed in 2011 that he had advanced-stage cancer that was originally considered inoperable. However, during an unrelated gallstone surgery, the cancerous growth was confirmed to have shrunk in size. Yamaguchi then learned that there was surgery that he could have that might cure the cancer. He reported later that year that this surgery ended without incident, although he returned to the hospital at the end of 2011.
Yamaguch had planned to end the Zero no Tsukaima light novels last year before his cancer diagnosis and subsequent operation. Media Factory published the 20th of 22 planned volumes in February of 2011. Zero no Tsukaima F, the fourth and final anime series, premiered in 2012.
Yamaguchi had just returned to work last year, and he wanted to resume his Zero no Tsukaima novels at the beginning of this year. However, he reported in November that this is unfeasible due to his most recent hospital stay for surgery, and apologized to his readers for the wait. He vowed to continue writing when his health returns “no matter what,” and thanked everyone for the words of encouragement — in Japanese and in English.

New Infinite Stratos Anime Officially Revealed
Overlap, the publisher of the IS <Infinite Stratos> light novel series by Izuru Yumizuru, has revealed in a promotional campaign that a new anime of Infinite Stratos has been green lit and is in production. This reveal is seen on a pamphlet revealed on Overlap’s official website, which can be seen below. This news comes just weeks after Kana Hanazawa, the voice actress of Charlotte Dunois in the first season of Infinite Stratos revealed that she was voicing Charlotte in a new series, with no mentions to a second season of the anime. We have earlier reported that it could indicate a second season of the anime, but both reveals had mention nothing other than it being a new anime.
The IS <Infinite Stratos> light novel series had received a restart after some problems Yumizuru had with the previous publisher. In addition, the character designs will be different in the light novels since there were problems with the original artist and a new one has been chosen. Since then, Overlap has announced some new things regarding a project restart. The reboot of the light novel has already been revealed with the previous volumes being rereleased according to these dates:
- Volume 1 & 2 releasing on April 25th
- Volume 3 & 4 releasing on May 25th
- Volume 5 & 6 releasing on June 25th, and
- Volume 7 releasing on July 25th.
The long anticipated volume 8 of the light novel series will also be releasing on April 25th, as well as a bundled DVD edition which has secret footage.
On April 20, there will be an IS <Infinite Stratos> all night festival event which will be streaming the entire anime, followed by special talks and an advance copy of volume 8 with signings. The event will go on from 10:30pm till early next day and will cost ¥3,800 (~ $38USD)- the light novel not included.
If you don’t know anything about this glorious anime or light novel series here is a synopsis of the anime from MAL:
Japan engineered an armed powered exoskeleton “Infinite Stratos” (IS) and it became the mainstream of weapons. Since only women can operate IS, women dominate the society over men. Orimura Ichika is a 15 year old boy and accidentally touches an IS placed in the IS pilot training school. He is found to be the only man who can operate IS and forced to enter the training school. Ichika’s busy school life surrounded by girls has begun.
While a second season of IS <Infinite Stratos> has not been officially confirmed or denied yet, there still will be more Infinite Stratos anime and light novels to tie people over. The restart project is already underway and is only a matter of time before the new anime project will be fully revealed and unveiled.

Discussion on Aku no Hana – 01
Ah, yes. Aku no Hana. It’s one of my favorite manga. In fact, I remember when I made a post on the Haruhichan blog asking for someone to translate the manga. I was desperate. I wanted more Aku no Hana. I bet you could guess on how excited I was to learn that it was finally getting animated. This was finally going to be an anime that I could get excited about. However, we all know things don’t always go how we plan.
Sometimes they go even worse than you plan.
Look at that shot. Just look at it. Take it all in and just let it digest in your brain. They turned this:
into this:
You’re probably wondering why they would do such a thing. I mean, why would anyone do such a thing? That’s a legitimate screenshot that I took as I was writing this article. No one needs Photoshop to make it any worse than it actually is. However, I do understand what they were trying to go for when you read interviews with the director and the mangaka. Here’s the basic jist of it as found and translated by someone on the AnimeSuki forums.
After reading that, I figured it was just them trying to justify using such a shitty style. Let’s be honest here. They fucked up. I understand their idea of wanting to use Rotoscope. The mangaka figured this was the closest thing he could get to a live action and the idea was pretty damn cool. An anime all in Rotoscope? Who wouldn’t want to try something like that? However, it’s obvious they didn’t spend as much time or money as they should have. Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty cool rotoscoped animations out there. Take the Cowboy Bebop: The Movie’s introduction. That was done using rotoscoping.
Now this is rotoscoping!
Let’s put it this way. I can fully understand WHY they wanted to use this style, but that doesn’t mean they SHOULD have used that style. I’d like to make a quick checklist on why this was a terrible idea.
- Aku no Hana being a manga had a pretty distinctive and nice looking style. People were expecting a certain style. Changing the style so drastically was a shock to many fans.
- Anime studios are notorious for having low budgets for developing anime. A lot of studios don’t want to put a lot of money into something if they’re unsure it’s going to make anything back. Aku no Hana just doesn’t have the kind of base to pump a lot of money into it.
- Not only does the lack of money come into factor, but a lot of studios get pretty lazy when they animate. You hear a lot of complaints in QUALITY from certain studios due to laziness or a poor budget.
The idea of using rotoscope on a normal 13 episode anime is just disastrous. There’s no way they could have had the time, the money, or the talent they needed to pull this off and get a good looking anime. If they had more of the above, I’m sure the style would look a lot better. However, when your anime has no faces until they get closer to the viewer, you should know you fucked up.
>mfw I have no face.
The entire thing is basically a giant joke. In the earlier interview I mention, the mangaka actually says that he hopes that this anime will leave a scar on the viewers. He basically doesn’t care if it’s good or not, he just wants everyone to remember it. I’d have to say that he did a good job in that department with the decision to animate it like this. How could anyone forget a face like this?
It had been a while since we used this picture.
Let’s try and move away from the animation and talk about the OP which bothered the hell out of me. Just as I was getting immersed into the scenes that were around me I was suddenly pulled back into reality when that OP played. This was not something I was expecting. It completely ruined the immersion I had going and pretty much ruined the entire rest of the episode as I just couldn’t get immersed again. One person stated that this was the desired effect. It was to clash with everything that the anime had going. However, I just think it’s shit.
Even the OP happens to agree with my opinion.
Disregarding the OP and the animation, I would have to say that I did actually enjoy how faithful it was to the original manga. Some of the scenes were “perfectly” recreated and if it wasn’t for the jarring animation, the OP, and the rage I felt. I probably would have been really impressed with the first episode. It’s setting itself up like I would expect it to. However, I don’t think some of the scenes using this animation will actually live up to the manga. I think the way the manga looks can’t be properly translated using rotoscoping. Traditional animation or even possibly live action (which is what the mangaka originally wanted) would do a better job at conveying the same feeling the manga gave.
I just don’t think this scene is going to be as hot as it was in the manga.
Only time will actually tell if this will actually be a good anime or the blunder of the century. Personally? I give it a: THREE EPISODE RULE / 10. It’s too early to just declare it shit. I’d rather give it the benefit of the doubt and see if they can really pull it off and make it more interesting than it currently is. I would also urge all Aku no Hana fans to do that same.
At least this anime season will give me more of my qt Ayase. I’m taking solace in that.
Two Girls und Panzer Cars up for Sale: ¥2,399,000 & ¥1,449,000
Two anime themed cars, called itashas, with the Girls und Panzer theme are currently up for sale after one of them was revealed in January at the Automobile museum Toyota Auto Salon Amlux and numerous other conventions. The two cars, one a Toyota Prius and the other a Toyota Vitz, will be available for purchase online via a lotto system. From April 2nd to the 14th potential buyers may have a chance to take the car home and show it off to the neighbours and waifus. The winners of the lotto will then speak with officials and undergo business negotiations after the lotto ends on the 14th.
The Toyota Prius Girls und Panzer car is currently priced at ¥2,399,000 (~$25, 000 USD) and the Vitz is priced at ¥1,449,000 (~$15,000 USD). The relatively cheap price of the cars is mostly due to the fact that base is from a used car, so nothing is too premium or shiny. The cars themselves are limited to one per customer so you and your ‘partner’ won’t be able to drive side by side in glorious moe. The cars will include a one year warranty and while the custom paint itself isn’t covered, Toyota will pay compensation for any repairs during the first year.
While the exterior itself is all handy dandy the biggest selling point will be the navigation system, which is voiced by Mai Fuchigami who voices Miho Nishizumi in the anime. So I guess people will be flogging online to place in the lotto just for the sweet voice of Fuchigami as she guides you through the streets of Japan. Responses of the car from NicoNico have been really positive with the most praise going to the navigation system, hoping that Toyota will sell the custom navigation system independently. The navigation system is also not under the one year insurance.
Project manager Kaneko Kohei hopes that the response for the Itashas will be large and the possibility of the cars in the market is still open. Kohei states “If possible, I want people who love Girls und Panzer to drive this car. Depending on the response it gets, I think we would be able to continue with a second or third generation of these itasha.” So even if you miss out on these cars, there is still a possibility for you to drive one, maybe even one of your own favourite anime.
Girls und Panzer is an anime set in a world where tank fighting has become an art and sport. With moe girls driving tanks and random moments of German, who wouldn’t like this anime? Here is a synopsis from MAL:
You may have heard of kung fu, but the girls at Oarai High School practice gun-fu—really, really BIG 75mm gun-fu, in fact. It’s called Sensha-do, and it’s the martial art of operating armored tanks! They take it seriously too, and since winning the national Sensha-do championship is such a huge deal at Oarai, they sometimes go to extreme ends in order to get the best students from Panzer class to sign up. Which is how Miho Nishizumi, who HATES operating tanks, gets drafted to join doomsday-driven driver Mako, even-triggered gunner Hana, highly receptive radio operator Saori and combustible tank-fangirl and loader Yukari as the incomparable Anko Team. They may not be on the half-track to fame and fortune, and maybe a few of them would rather shop for tank tops than become tops in tanks, but once their focus is locked and loaded, they’re absolutely driven.
If you want to be in the lotto to win this car you can visit the Toyko Toypet website, who will be overseeing the entire lotto: http://www.tokyo-toyopet.co.jp/u-car/special/girlpan/
Be wary if you do win, driving this car around your neighbourhood may get some weird looks from people.
Also, there is a Love Live! School Idol Project van that was shown at Amlux but is unfortunately not for sale yet. Though the van itself does yell suspicion…
So which anime themed car would you want to drive?

Rurouni Kenshin Movie – Review
Title: Rurouni Kenshin (るろうに剣心)
Genre: Historical, Action, Romance, Drama
Rating: 9.2/10
Summary:
Former legendary assassin Kenshin Himura (Takeru Sato) has now become a wandering samurai. Offering aid & protecting those in need as atonement for his past deeds. During this time comes across and aides Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei). Her father opened the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a kendo school located in Tokyo and Kaoru is now an instructor there. Kaoru then invites Kenshin to stay at her dojo. Their relationship develops further, but Kenshin is still haunted by his violent past … Based on popular manga series “Rurouni Kenshin” written & illustrated by Watsuki Nobuhiro – published in Weekly Shonen Jump from September 2, 1994 – November 4, 1999.
The live action take on the insanely popular Rurouni Kenshin series from way back 1999 has finally reached our shores and before I could discuss why it’s almost perfect, I just have to say this first…HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME!
Story: 9/10
The movie followed the story of Kenshin who is a former legendary assassin during Japan’s civil war era and now has given up on killing and wanders as a ‘Rounin’ hoping to live a peaceful life. Despite his wish, he had to confront his past as he got involved with the government and people who have grudges on him.
The movie covered the first two arcs of the manga/anime (if my memory serves me right…gosh I’m getting old >.<) and same as the anime it involves Kenshin fighting an opium dealer and someone who claims to be Kenshin himself. There were major and minor changes between the anime and the movie but still it stayed loyal to the source material and surprisingly worked out in making a stand alone movie that still have the feel that it’s Rorouni Kenshin I watched when I was still a kid. Kudos to the director, Keishi Otomo-san, since he was able to weave a storyline and it’s tons of characters from the tv series and fit it to a 134 minutes movie with a surprisingly smooth continuity and not making it look like a incoherent mash-up of elements from the source material.
You might be wondering why did I only gave it a 9/10 score. It’s because it somehow feels like there’s a “next episode” since as a person who watched the tv anime I know there’s still a LOT of adventure waiting for our Kenshin. Don’t get me wrong it was nicely wrapped up but heck I wanted more.
Cast: 9/10
Holy crap the casting was insanely spot-on! To be able to don Kenshin’s red hair, costume, the way he moves and his signature line: “Oro?” Takeru Satoh was able to pull it off without making it look awkward on screen.
Emi Takei was able to pull off Kaoru Kamiya, the tough girl who runs the dojo her father left her, with her simple but pretty looks but I just wish she was able to portray her tomboyish side. In my opinion Emi-san’s face is just too pretty when you compared it with Megumi since she should be more prettier than Kaoru just like the way she was portrayed in the anime. That does not mean that Yu Aoi’s portrayal of Takani Megumi was poor it’s just that errrrrr sorry to say this but I don’t quite find her as attractive as the Megumi I have in mind but she was able to show Megumi’s flirty side very well.
I think the most memorable character of this movie (aside from Kenshin of course) was Munetaka Aoki’s portrayal of Sagara Sanosuke. WOW he was able to Sanosuke’s rowdy side very well the way he fights, the way he talks holy crap it feels like the Sanosuke in the anime.
Yosuke Eguchi sure was able to pull-off one badass Saito specially when he posed for his signature move “Gatotsu” but his body build is a bit larger than the Saito in the anime and he’s good looking to boot and I’m not complaining. I like this Saito better.
Oh let’s not forget the antagonists. Kanryu Takeda’s portrayal was over the top and Udo Jin-e was as creepy as hell just like in the anime. Good job to both Koji Kikkawa (Udo Jin-e) and Truyuki Kagawa (Kanryu Takeda) I would like to give these guys a standing ovation for their memorable antagonistic peformance.
Cinematography: 10/10
Let’s first start with the goose-bump inducing setting. Rurouni Kenshi’s setting is the 1870 Japan which is so accurate that it’s jaw dropping specially that starting scene of the movie the last battle of Battousai and corpse ridden battle field holy crap I had goose-bumps during that time. Surely, this movie was successful in capturing the setting of 1870 Japan, letting the audience feel what it’s like during that time.
One of the reasons I loved Rurouni Kenshi anime is because of the nicely choreographed and heart stopping sword fights. Can you believe it they were able to bring it to life in this movie? I think there were little to no CG used in this movie and that made it look real. It was all wirework, sword skills and incredible direction (and of course hard work from our dear Kenshin and the staff) to bring us one fast, intense and heart stopping sword/fist fights.
Sounds: 9/10
To tell you guys the truth I don’t know how to the describe the ost of this movie. It’s not full of flute and shamisen sounding tracks but more of errrrrr modern, orchestra and epic sounding ones. The ost sure complements the scenes of the movie and make it more dramatic, exciting or hilarious depending on the scene on screen. My only complain I guess would be the ending song at the end of the movie since it’s somehow does not complement the movie with it’s english lyrics but I’ll be lying if I’ll say I don’t like it.
Enjoyment: 9/10
To tell you the truth I have a very mediocre and low expectation for the movie since usually the anime to film adaptation I’ve watched have been poorly directed and sometimes a complete mess so I’m really glad that FINALLY something as awesome as this have graced our shores. It’s a living testament that you should leave the adaptation of Japanese material to the Japanese (*cough* yep I’m talking to you Dragonball Hollywood adaptation *cough*). You can really see that there’s a lot of love poured in this series to make it appeal to both the fans of the source material and to those who are new to the series.
This movie really brought back my childhood. I remember that before, I’m always in a hurry to come back home just to catch the new episode of Rurouni Kenshi (aka Samurai X where I came from). I know the movie goers (probably early to mid 20s just like me) felt the same way as they roared and cheered on the screen and just like I did, you could hear conversions of their favorite scenes and how awesome the movie was as they left the cinema. Any fan of Rurouni Kenshin or even to those who are new with the franchise would surely enjoy the movie.
Dawww this just made me all warm and fuzzy inside… (´ ▽`).。o♡
I just wish more Japanese movies would be aired in my country specially anime movies (*cough* Madoka Magica Movie *cough* Evangelion movies). Hey SM Cinema yes I’m calling your attention!
Overall: 9.2/10
until then…

Sword Art Online 11.5 review (Chapter 16.5 OVA)
This episode just came out and I watched it as soon as it hit the internets. I don’t know what to say. I never thought they would actually release this since it was just too much for the LNs. For them to animate such a thing…. who would have thought? So at first Asuna… Oh god Asuna… what have you done to me? I don’t even know how to feel or what to say right now after watching it.
JOKE, HAPPY APRIL FOOLS.

Remu was surprised but he accepted her decision until an accident called “Early Rupture” happened. The network server got overloaded and users’ minds were lost in cyber space leaving soulless living bodies in the Body Pools. In order to bring Shiki’s mind back, Remu visits her apartment in OMFC and there meets Shiki escaped from the hospital. But the girl tells him that she is not Shiki and she happens to haven taken over Shiki’s body.
When Remu tries to figure out the situation, a violent attack strikes the apartment.
Impression:
Chidori3souske This series is part of the new project call Anime Mirai program. Apparently the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA) receives money from the Japanese government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs, and it distributes most of those funds to studios who will train young animators on-the-job.
Whoa the concept sure looks interesting but when I checked the number of episode it has, it says it’s only one episode so I’m assuming every project under Anime Mirai would only consist of 1 ep OVA. If so I am already disappointed since you can’t have an awesome show with this kind of potential and pack it to a 1 ep OVA, surely it’ll be a mess. It’s only 1 ep so might as well check it out but I’m not expecting much from it. Btw, we have notable seiyuus on board so yep another reason to check it out.

Chidori3souske Wow interesting summary and in the hands of Shinohara, Toshiya and Series composition by Yokote, Michiko I think this one definitely have a huge potential. Another perk of watching this series is having Fuku Jun on board so yeah definitely picking up this one though I just wish there’s a normal tv airing of this series since the stream by Niconico is just an eyesore and does not give P.A. Works’s beautiful animation justice.

Trailer
Summary:
You may have heard of kung fu, but the girls at Oarai High School practice gun-fu – really, really BIG 75mm gun-fu, in fact.
Impressions:
Chidori3souske I didn’t have the time to check out Girls and Panzer so this one is a pass.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske Whoa the PV have a very nice animation (and hot girls) but……it has ecchi and harem tropes which is not a very good sign. Seems like it’ll have decent action at least and an interesting summary so I’ll be picking up this one too.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske A Rom-Com anime would always be welcome but I can’t shake off this feeling of déjà vu. One of those series where the main guy is not motivated at all, I think I’ve seen that somewhere before. Anyway the Director is the one who is behind the best Rom-Com in the industry (Toradora, AnoHana and Ano Natsu) and with the quirkiness from the series composition of Suga, Shoutarou who is behind Rinne no Lagrange I think this will be a fun ride so yep definitely going to watch this one.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske Oh yeah a mecha anime! Watching the PV…..it feels like Kira and Athrun would pop out somewhere since the character design was done by Hirai, Hisashi who is also responsible for the character design of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and even the summary looks very similar to the genetically advance ‘Coordinator’ of Seed. The 1st PV looks exciting with all the action but all the 2nd one looks hilarious damn I’m hooked already. Definitely going to watch this one.

Chidori3souske Man another Demon King anime but what’s different is that the Demon King after being transported her on Earth has to work at a fast food chain to earn money. The with Hosoda, Naoto as the director I think it’ll be in good hands. The 5 min PV really have hooked with it’s beautiful animation and the action at the end so I think I’ll check this one out.

Chidori3souske A really interesting plot based from the ATLUS (Persona) game of the same title. There’s a manga version of this one and I skimmed through it and boy was that interesting. The 2 main protagonist have seen their death when they registered to this mysterious site and they were supposed to be dead but they were given a choice if they want to live or not. Of course they chose to live but that in turn they have to form a contract to a devil and battle those mysterious invader. Impressions:
Chidori3souske Honestly, I like the first season despite the ecchiness mainly because of the unique animation and the way they censored the oppai and other ecchi stuff but story wise it’s forgettable. To be honest there are a LOT of series this season that are more worthy of my time so I’ll only pick this up if I’m bored or don’t have anything to watch so this time it’s a pass.

For longer than he can remember, Kirino has ignored his comings and goings and looked at him with spurning eyes. It seemed as if the relationship between Kyousuke and his sister, now fourteen, would continue this way forever.
One day, however, Kyousuke finds a DVD case of a magical girl anime entitled Hoshikuzu Witch Merle (Stardust Witch Merle), which had fallen into the entranceway of his house. To Kyousuke’s surprise, inside the case is a hidden adult video game titled Imouto to Koishiyo! (Love with Little Sister!). Kyousuke attempts to fish out the culprit who dropped the case by bringing up the topic of magical girl anime at the family dinner table. All that comes out is a strong negative reaction from his parents, especially his anti-otaku policeman father.
That night, Kirino bursts into Kyousuke’s room and, in perhaps the first conversation she has initiated with him in years, says they “have things to talk about.” Kirino brings Kyousuke to her room and shows him an extensive collection of moe anime and lolicon bishoujo games she has been collecting in secret.
Impressions:
Chidori3souske The show most well known for promoting incest and pedophilia is now back wwwwwwww. Anyway it does have its hints of those stuff but don’t worry it’s very discreet. I loved the first season so yep I’m definitely going to watch this one and here’s to hoping it’ll have a Kuroneko end.

Impressions:
Chidori3souske I totally enjoyed the first part of the 2nd season mainly to its dark humour and slap stick comedy but the 2nd half just ruins everything since it’s not really hilarious anymore. This is a 5min anime short but a LOT of shows this season are a more worthy of my attention so this one is a pass.

I’ll be watching all those series most probably in batches since I enjoy watching series that way than waiting for it every week. I hope this was a very helpful guide to your anime watching this spring!
To tell you guys the truth I’ll be abstaining from watching anime and blogging till mid August since I would want to focus on the Physical Therapy Board Exams and oh, I won’t also be touching my twitter nor facebook account. I need to sacrifice all of those things since the aim of our school would be 100% passing rate and at least 8 Top Notchers so I need to focus and the bigger sacrifices I make the bigger the reward in the end. Sigh, I really have to do things I don’t want to do (like studying) in order to do thing I want to do eventually, do I? SIGH…..
This won’t be my last post since I’ve prepared reviews that is scheduled to be release every week (though I wonder till when it’ll last >.<) so no worries there. This is not farewell, I’ll be back.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – Review
Title: The Pet Girl of Sakurasou (さくら荘のペットな彼女)
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
Rating: 9.4/10
Summary:
Sorata is kicked out of his high-school dorms for keeping a cat, and moves into a small dorm called Sakurasou. It turns out that all the residents, in addition to being uncontrollable and weird, are outstanding in some way: a well-known animator, a scriptwriter, a programmer. A beautiful girl called Mashiro moves in who is an internationally known painter but is so devoted to art that she can’t even dress herself, and Sorata is given the job of looking after her. Through her and the other residents, he learns who he is and what he wants to do.
“Hey…What color do you want to be?” – Shiina Mashiro
Story: 9/10
The theme of this series can be simply summarized by what Mashiro said, What do you want to be? Everyone have their own dreams right? Sometime in our life, we dreamed of being a doctor, a teacher, a engineer etc., those were normal dreams, but admit it, we’ve dreamt of outrageous dreams like being a manga artist, game creator, animator, voice actress, writer or even a programmer. Deep inside those outrageous dreams, we gave them up easily because in our minds there’s this phrase that keeps on nagging us: “I can’t do it” and we end up not doing anything to achieve our dream. Sorata’s story is like that, he had a dream but he didn’t have the guts to achieve it until Mashiro came in and made him realize what he truly wants.
Knowing what you really want is only the first step, but finding ways to achieve that dream would be the hardest part. Sorata experienced that the hard way. He was not a talented person like Mashiro or Misaki, he was simply a normal guy so he really had to work hard. He tried and failed over and over but with Mashiro, since she’s very talented, she achieved her dream of being a manga artist easily. Here enters another theme: Does hard work really pay off? Well, the series answered this one bluntly, sometimes it DOESN’T, but the effort you put in your dream was not all for nothing so if you really want your dreams and aspirations to come true then all you have to do is try again and “Never stop running”, just like what Mashiro said.
“Don’t stop running Sorata” –Mashiro
This series was crafted from the hands of Okada Mari-san who was able to weave one inspiring story about achieving your dreams with romance as a sub plot, a drama where the audience can relate, comedy to lighten things up and interesting dialogues that reaches your heart. I just love the direction of this series since it was able to mix all those genres without making things a mess since the director knows when he needs to throw in those things at the right time. My only problem I guess was the sub-plot where Sakurasou was about to be closed down, since it was kind of cliché and gave me that ‘been there done that’ feel. Though Sakurasou was able to redeem itself by making that cliché plot as a stepping stone to one heart wrenching and touching ending. Another complain is the way they ended the relationship of Mashiro, Sorata and Nanami they left us hanging and somehow not resolved but gave us some clue with Mashiro finally realizing her feelings for Sorata.
Characters: 9/10
This series have one memorable cast in it and was all nicely fleshed out with their own story/romance tied to the main plot. Sorata was admirable since whenever he makes a mistake, he will surely face those and move forward. I really thought at first that Mashiro would be just there for the fanservice and comedy but heck, I have to admit she is one of the reason why Sorata have become the person he is now. Despite her innocent looks, it seems like she has a deeper understanding of the world and the people around her. Nanami on the other hand plays the best friend of Sorata who is also in love with him. Yup another one of those usual tropes but she isn’t annoying at all and I was able to fell in love with her character because of the hard work she puts on her dream. I’m just a bit disappointed in her since she never properly told her feelings for Sorata, too bad since I’m really rooting for Nanami x Sorata pairing. Oh let’s talk about another typical character archetype, the imouto (little sister), I wonder why she’s even present in the series since she did not contribute at all to the story, she’s just there for the comedy. Misaki and Jin, the childhood friends who both like each other, yep usual archetype but what sets them apart was the action of Jin (I won’t spoil it) which was admirable but quite stupid since his action surely hurt Misaki (and he even know he’s hurting her) but thankfully he told Misaki his plans. Ryuunosuke and Rita was also an interesting pair but their romance was not that well develop to give way to the main pairings development.
Animation: 10/10
J.C. Staff have proven once again that they are still the king of Rom-Com anime. Direction of animation was simply well done from the camera angle, lighting and facial expressions, they really did a very wonderful job in making the scenes dramatic or hilarious, a good example would be episode 21 where the mood is very bleak and Sorata and Nanami are suffering, oh good grief those scenes really broke my heart from the dark lighting, the rain and their faces. Production quality was very consistent all throughout the series and animation was really fluid and background very detailed.
I just have to commend the way J.C. Staff handled the ending of Sakurasou. They’ve mixed in some of the best dialogues in this series and coupled in the memorable scene then ending it with Mashiro’s “Hey…What color do you want to be?” It was simply beautifully done and was very successful in bringing tears to my eyes and feeling a bit melancholic with Sakurasou ending.
“Today we have to say goodbye. Until the day we meet again…” ヽ(´▽`;)/♪
Sounds: 9/10
The OST used in this series compliments the animation and boy were they successful in throwing in the emotion the series wants to convey. Though the OST have done it’s job, it was not ground breaking and memorable. Voicing acting was very spectacular and dynamic in bringing the characters to life. I could really feel the emotion they want to convey. A good example would be Misaki’s genkiness was shown but you could hear the conflict in her voice that despite her happy appearance she is hurting inside. Oh I gotta love Nakatsu, Mariko-san’s performance as Nanami since she could easily switch from the usual accent to a Kansai accent (I find it moe) which really shows how upset she is and gosh that bawling out at episode 21 was really heart breaking (Good job girl!). Kayano, Ai’s performance as Mahiro was also spectacular since despite being a silent and sort of a poker face character you could hear in her performance that Mashiro is capable of feeling. Oh I just can’t stop praising every voice actors in this series.
I love all the OP and ED song of this series but my favorite would be the quirky opening “Kimi ga Yume wo Tsuretekita (君が夢を連れてきた)” by Pet na Kanojo-tachi (Ai Kayano, Mariko Nakatsu, Natsumi Takamori) and the ED “DAYS of DASH” by Konomi Suzuki specially when it was used at the ending of the last episode.
Enjoyment: 10/10
I didn’t expect much from this series specially with that very mediocre and ecchi sounding summary, thank God I happen to pick this up out of curiosity. This series just blew me away with it’s theme and the way it delivered its answer through the story of the characters. When Mashiro said this at the first part of the series: “I’m doing this for my manga, that’s why I’m here. What about you? Why are you here?” it made me ask myself, “What am I doing with my life?” and holy crap that really made me look back with what I did with my life so far. This series made me want to pursue writing again but then it didn’t stop and it threw another statement: “Hard work, doesn’t always payoff. That’s just how life is. Unfair” WHAT? WHAT THE?! Now it just gave me DESPAIR. Thankfully, they’ve wrap it up with: “Don’t stop running. We can go far as we please” simply put if you want something don’t give up and continue running. This series is an emotional and memorable ride that anyone could enjoy specially to those who love the Rom-Com genre.
No, Thank you SAKURASOU that was a very fruitful ride and you manage to move my heart every episode. I’m definitely going to miss you!
OVERALL: 9.4/10

Top 5 most anticipated shows for Spring 2013!
These are my top 5 most anticipated shows for Spring 2013. Before viewing if you haven’t seen next season’s line up yet, here’s the chart: Click! These are my own opinions, if you don’t like my most anticipated shows for Spring 2013, feel free to leave a comment stating yours :). Now that’s over and done with, lets get on with the list for my 5 most anticipated shows for Spring 2013!
1. Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (Season 2)
The main reason for this being my most anticipated show is because of 2 reasons. 1, I fucking LOVED this show, I have a lot of goods from this show. Stuff like figures, posters, blu-rays, and much more! Another reason is because when they announced season 2 on April 1st of last year I was just over joyed but at the same time I was asking myself “Is this an april fools joke?”. I couldn’t believe it yet I believed it anyways and now, a year later here it is! They’ll probably a lot of “Kirino is the best” posts here but I do like both characters from the show~
2. RDG Red Data Girl
Every since Hanasaku Iroha and many others that followed after that, I’ve been a big fan of P.A. Works. This show was announced pretty much about a year ago and ever since then I’ve been wanting to see it. The first episode pre-air has came out and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. Although I didn’t watch the pre-air I can already tell I’ll most definitely like it.
3. Date A Live
Not much to say about this really, the light novels are pretty well received and there’s a lot of hype about this. The more good things I hear about something, the more I want to see it. If it ends up being really good, I’ll definitely hop on the novels. Aside from all that there’s been talks that this will be the most hyped show next season (Similar to what Sword Art Online was like).
4. Photo Kano
I honestly don’t know much about this but It’s probably one of the few shows that actually stand out to me. I might’ve heard maybe 1 or 2 people telling me that this was going to be great but overall I just have the feel that this’ll be pretty good. I hope when it airs it doesn’t back fire on me and turn out to be boring though~
5. Aku no Hana
“A corrupt pure-love story” that just had me sold, LOL.
On a more serious note, I just have this one friend bugging me all the time telling me how this show is going to be the best next season. With him constantly telling me that I just have this show stuck on my head so that might be why I’m kind of eager to see it.
Aside from those 5, I’m also pretty stoked for Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S! 🙂
I might have to re-watch railgun at the very least though as I pretty much forgot a lot. I’ll probably do that during this spring break <3
Figure Review: Kuroyukihime – Accel World
Ready for a look at the Black Snow Princess? I bet you’re wondering who I’m talking about. Well, it’s none other than Accel World heroine: Kuroyukihime! The name literally translates to “Black Snow Princess” and so I referred to her as such. Kuro means black, Yuki means snow, and Hime means princess. Now that we’re done with the little Japanese language lesson, let’s move on to discussing this beautiful figure! Made by online one stop hobby shop E2046.com, this figure certainly treats the eyes – a great depiction of the leading lady in her “Accelerated” form.
Let’s start this time with what I don’t like about this figure. To be honest, her face does not look a lot like her anime counterpart. Her cheeks are rounder and the expression does not entirely match the look Kuro would most often uphold in the show. Having said that, she certainly does look alluring in her own right. Her slightly narrowed eyes and pursed lips do present the hint of her calm but in control, vixen-like personality. But the face is where this minor dissatisfaction ends, as the rest of her looks wonderful. Her hair color, as well as the way it appears to be flowing, down to her dress is both painted excellently and accurately detailed. Her tight corset that highlights her slender figure as well as her long flowing skirt look great. The butterflies on her gloves are a cool touch as well, but she looks even better from behind. Let us have a look.
Not only is the gentle rippling of her skirt more apparent, but you can see her bare back too. But that still isn’t the best bit. As you probably have noticed, her wings look absolutely stunning. The color patterns as well as the detailed design certainly brings forward the mastery of the maker. The subtle transition of the shading on the larger sections of the wings from light blue to blue to purple is pulled off really well. A sweet little bonus is a peek at the strap of her undies. Don’t act like you didn’t check!
Though no problems have been reported with this figure as of yet, the ends of her hair – especially the two little standing strands on top – as well as the wings themselves seem fairly fragile, so one would be advised to handle her with caution. Apart from these minor concerns, this model seems solid. The stand she originally would have come with is the plain black one as seen in the above photos, but as part of a “Gathering Surprise” she instead comes with a fairly unique stand that one would find pretty damn cool.
This stand has little butterfly patterns on them! Sticks in with the theme of Kuro’s look perfectly and are tastefully placed around her. Makes for an excellent display base, and any collector would be proud to stand her on this. Kuro herself would approve! But that isn’t the cool part. Dim the lights and you’ll be treated to something really special.
Well, would you look at that! The butterflies light up, shining in a luminescent blue glow! I don’t know about you, but that looks amazing to me. Certainly something you’re going to want to show off, as this is one of the most unique additions to a figure I have seen in a while. While she is originally priced at $205.99, she’s currently for sale at a 25% discount, meaning she’s only for $154.49! She stands 28cm tall -which is about 11 inches – and weighs around 2kg – about 4.5lbs.
On the whole, while it may be true that she’s a little delicate, and perhaps I can’t see her personality in her expression as well as I could in some of their other figures, on the whole I feel they’ve done another good job. The dress, the shoes, the hair, everything looks gorgeous, and the base is amazing in its own right. Available here at the quoted price, she’s in limited supply so you ought get your hands on your very own Kuroyukihime (say her name ten times really fast) as soon as possible!
Figure Review: Super Sonico Bathtub – SoniComi – 1/6 Scale
When was the last time a figure stimulated you this much? Well, the last time doesn’t matter because we have something new for you. We present to you another fine addition to the E2046 family – and the most provocative one we’ve had the pleasure to review by far; SoniComi main character and Nitroplus mascot: Sonico. Oh, but this isn’t just any Sonico figure. The voluptuous model isn’t striking just any ordinary pose or wearing any ordinary dress, this figure is clad in entirely all but… nothing! That’s right folks, we have caught her in her birthday suit just as she enters the bathtub, ready to wash that sultry body after a hard day of work. We all have our weaknesses gentlemen, and this figure seems to be exploiting all the right ones.
From her gorgeous pink hair down to the curl of her toes, Sonico manages to prove an object of desire to hardcore eroge fans and casual anime enthusiasts alike. Let us begin with her headphones – which is, if you’ll allow me to remind you, the only thing she is wearing! Though delicate and certainly difficult to put together, the makers have managed to pull this one off with the usual excellence expected of them – its silvery paint offering a metallic contrast to her matte pink hair, which beautifully flows below her shoulders and along her back, the upper portion of the hair framing her irresistibly pretty face while the ends of her hair clump together as hair does when wet. The paint job darkens ever so slightly down the hair, furthering the impression that the hair is damp. Her innocent – somewhat shy – expression makes her look cuter than ever. Well, what do you expect,? She is in a somewhat compromising predicament after all! Much to our pleasure.
Let us pan the camera to the side to admire her luscious little figure from another angle. As you can tell by now (because we know you’ve checked, you nasty person, you) only the bare minimums are covered. So, perhaps we may not see her round, perky bosoms in their entirety, but it leaves just enough to the imagination to get us reasonably… excited, for lack of a better word. There is not much that can be written to make her seem more enticing, as she has done a marvelous job herself. Her curvaceous figure certainly manages to double my heart rate! But if you like her now, you’ll love her when you see her from behind.
Her alluring curves make themselves apparent when she is viewed from this angle, her perfect hourglass figure succeeding in causing more than just a slight stir in our pants. What sweetens the deal is just how realistic it looks. The photo-realistic paint job coupled with her stunning shape combines to make her absolutely jawdropping. Nothing left to the imagination here folks, it’s all there for us to gawk at, and we’re most certainly not complaining.
What one probably fails to notice (mostly because we’re too busy drooling) is that the bathtub is not complete, but only a section of it. It is, however, filled with a material that makes it look like it is filled with bubbles. A similar material to what covers her “important bits”. Sonico herself is on a small stand within the tub section, made from transparent plastic. Also included within is a small variety of “little friends”.
Her tub toys include a little yellow rubber duckie, a frog, and what appears to be a green rat with a flower growing out of its head. Yeah, I don’t get it either. But who cares? Our focus is on Sonico! Getting back to her, more specifically, her specifications…
Standing at 25cm – almost 10 inches – and weighing almost 2kg – that is, approximately 4.5lbs – this is a relatively heavy model, but as there are not many fragile bits that protrude from its central figure, it is still easily manageable and makes for a mighty fine display piece. Some minor assembly is required, but she comes expertly pre-painted and built by those who are best at it. As far as customer satisfaction goes, Sonico is top notch, with no reported complaints. Normally sold at $200, she comes at a 25% discount, dropping her down to an affordable $149.99. Available for pre-order here at the quoted price. That discount may not last forever though, so if I were you I’d get my hands on this bathtub beauty as soon as possible!
5 reasons why Kashiwazaki Sena SHOULD and WILL win Haganai.
Here’s 5 reasons of why I believe Sena will win Haganai and also why she’s the best girl IN Haganai.
Reason 1 – Family relations.
As little of a factor people may think this is, it’s actually a BIG factor. As shown in the recent episodes of Haganai having both their parents know each other can result in some pretty scary stuff. Those who have watched the recent episodes will know what I mean. As for those who haven’t to prevent spoiling you I won’t talk about it but just know it plays a huge role in the story and relation ship of Sena and Kodaka.
Reason 2 – Interactions
This goes all the way back to season 1 where she went on a “date” with Kodaka to an indoor swimming area. Compared to all the girls in Haganai no one comes close to how much Sena has interacted with Kodaka. Sena has a load more 1 on 1 interactions with Kodaka than any of the other girls and this is a huge factor in the relationship they build.
Reason 3 – The ONLY “obstacle” in her way practically removed.
By the only “obstacle” I mean the only person who even comes close with the relationship she has with Kodaka is Yozora. That is ONLY because they met each other earlier and are “childhood” friends. However, in season 2, it reveals that Sena actually knew and hung out with Kodaka since they were babies. Not only is this strengthening the bond between Sena and Kodaka but it also weakends the bond between him and Yozora. As sad as Yozora’s past with Kodaka is, you need to remember that in the past, Yozora was saw as an male friend. There was no feelings of love at all whatsoever in the past.
Reason 4 – Kobato-chan
People think that just because Sena is obsessed with Kobato it doesn’t mean anything, I’m here to say that it DOES mean something. The closer Sena gets to Kobato, the closer she gets to Kodaka. As an example, in the episode where the entire club goes to the amusement park, there is a scene where people mistaken’d Sena and Kodaka as an couple. Even if it was a misunderstanding the fact that there was even a scene like this already makes the competition lean in Sena’s favor and all of this is BECAUSE of Kobato. Like they all say, if you want to get close to someone a good way is to get close to people they’re close to.
Reason 5 – The direction of the story.
What do I mean by the direction of the story? In season 2 the story has definitely progressed a lot more than season 1. Not only has to progressed for Sena, it has for many of the other rinjin-bu members. This includes Rika, the Nun, Yozora, and Yukimura. Shoving most of the members aside, it’s obvious enough that only 2 out of them will be chosen and the 2 are Sena and Yozora. Both have progressed A LOT through out season 2 but I believe that Sena has progressed way more. Setting the fiance letter fiasco aside, it seems to me that Sena DOES like Kodaka and Kodaka DOES realize this along with the fact that Yozora and the other’s like him too. I’m only positive of that because of the conversation Kodaka had with Rika on the roof in episode 10, shows and proves a lot. A lot of season 2 seems to bring out the Kodaka x Sena especially when the characters in the show itself have a misconception of the 2 dating. (This referrers to the whole misunderstanding that Sena’s father created where he spreaded false information around the entire school saying that her daughter was dating Kodaka.)
In general I am a big Sena fan and I would never change sides no matter what happen’d(Well, for the most part lol). The confidence I have in her winning may come from the fact that I have read the light novel but part of me also just know’s that she’ll win Hagani. Many people like Yozora better just because they have a past and it’s “tragic” that the 2 were separated from each other when they were very young BUT, as I have stated before, the fact that Kodaka knew her as a male in the past kind of shows that’s he never thought of her that way and was only interested in becoming friends or even best friends. I also hate her because she has A LOT of jealousy and likes to say stuff to spite Sena. Really annoying to see her do stuff like that, it’s fucked up and just shows how much of a bitch she is. It’s almost as if she doesn’t care at all. Anyways, that’s the 5 reasons I could come up with 2:40 AM at night, I could probably write a lot more and come up with better reasons but /effort.
