Only a little over a week since the news came out that Square Enix registered trademarks for their mysterious Shinra Game System, two more trademarks have been spotted on the European OHIM database for two, possibly upcoming, PlayStation Vita releases.
Vita fans have quite a bit to get excited for with Square Enix registering a trademark for, supposedly, the remake of the very first Seiken Densetsu JRPG popping up under the name Adventures of Mana which was formally announced back in September.
Originally released in 1991 for the Game Boy, Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden released as Final Fantasy Adventure in North America and Mystic Quest in Europe. It’s worth noting that, despite this initial titling, the sequel, Seiken Densetsu 2, went on to be known as Secret of Mana outside of Japan.
Furthermore, Ray Gigant, a dungeon-crawling JRPG from Demon Gaze-developer Experience, has been filed for a trademark by Bandai Namco.
Adventures of Mana has not yet been released in Japan for PlayStation Vita, Android, and iOS, but Ray Gigant received a PlayStation Vita-only release back in July of this year.
While we haven’t seen a glimmer of God Eater 2: Rage Burst‘s localization since a trademark was spotted back in January, it’s exciting to see some publishers still care about the PlayStation Vita in the Western market.
Korean cosplayer LAMI has done a marvelous job of displaying how Asuna from Sword Art Online would look if she were to quit VRMMOs and become an idol. As you can see below, Asuna is dressed up in idol attire while taking the spotlight on the stage.

You may have heard of kung fu, but the girls at Oarai High School practice gun-fu—really, really BIG 75mm gun-fu, in fact. It’s called Sensha-do, and it’s the martial art of operating armored tanks! They take it seriously too, and since winning the national Sensha-do championship is such a huge deal at Oarai, they sometimes go to extreme ends in order to get the best students from Panzer class to sign up. Which is how Miho Nishizumi, who HATES operating tanks, gets drafted to join doomsday-driven driver Mako, even-triggered gunner Hana, highly receptive radio operator Saori and combustible tank-fangirl and loader Yukari as the incomparable Anko Team. They may not be on the half-track to fame and fortune, and maybe a few of them would rather shop for tank tops than become tops in tanks, but once their focus is locked and loaded, they’re absolutely driven.

In August of 20XX, a portal to a parallel world, known as the “Gate,” suddenly appeared in Ginza, Tokyo. Monsters and troops poured out of the portal, turning the shopping district into a bloody inferno.
The Japan Ground-Self Defence Force immediately took action and pushed the fantasy creatures back to the “Gate.” To facilitate negotiations and prepare for future fights, the JGSDF dispatched the Third Reconnaissance Team to the “Special Region” at the other side of the Gate.
Youji Itami, a JSDF officer as well as a 33-year-old otaku, was appointed as the leader of the Team. Amid attacks from enemy troops the team visited a variety of places and learnt a lot about the local culture and geography.
Thanks to their efforts in humanitarian relief, although with some difficulties they were gradually able to reach out to the locals. They even had a cute elf, a sorceress and a demigoddess in their circle of new friends. On the other hand, the major powers outside the Gate such as the United States,China and Russia were extremely interested in the abundant resources available in the Special Region. They began to exert diplomatic pressure over Japan.
A suddenly appearing portal to an unknown world—to the major powers it may be no more than a mere asset for toppling the international order. But to our protagonists it is an invaluable opportunity to broaden knowledge, friendship, and ultimately their perspective towards the world.

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump since July 19, 1997; the individual chapters are being published in tankoubon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997, and the 75th volume released as of September 2014. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as One Piece in order to become the next Pirate King.
The chapters have been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999. Since then, the still continuing series has aired over 672 episodes. Additionally, Toei has developed thirteen animated feature films, two OVA’s, and five television specials.
One Piece has received wide critical acclaim, primarily for its art, characterization, humor and story. Several volumes of the manga have broken publishing records, including highest initial print run of any book in Japan and the first book to sell over three million copies in Oricon history. As of 2013, the series had over 345 million volumes in circulation worldwide, making it the best-selling manga series in history.
Gol D. Roger was known as the Pirate King, the strongest and most infamous being to have sailed the Grand Line. The capture and death of Roger by the World Government brought a change throughout the world. His last words before his death revealed the location of the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece. It was this revelation that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates, men who dreamed of finding One Piece(which promises an unlimited amount of riches and fame), and quite possibly the most coveted of titles for the person who found it, the title of the Pirate King.
Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.

Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as “the most powerful wizard.” The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) begining to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.
Uemastsu, who composed the soundtrack for the original Final Fantasy VII, was asked in an interview with French video game publication Jeuxvideo, whether or not he would be working on the remake, to which he responded, “Not at all.” It is a shame to see that he will not be returning to Square Enix’s team to enchant the world yet again with his talents in the remake, but perhaps he will guide the composer that will take his place, whether it be through notes, or being on site with the replacement assisting them in getting the original feel, with their own added twist. Either way, the show must go on, and although fans will grieve over this, there will still be hope that the rest of the remake will be just as magical as it was playing the original for the very first time.
Here is an extremely memorable piece by Uematsu:
