Earlier today the upcoming new Dragon Ball Z movie was teased on Mezamashi TV in Japan and revealed some of the scenes from the movie. We get to see Goku transforming to a Super Saiyan and Shenron, the God Dragon.
A flyer was distributed around Japan promoting the recently announced 2015 Dragon Ball Z Movie. The flyer revealed that the upcoming Spring 2015 film will directed by Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Additionally, the film’s website has just opened with new visuals for the movie.
The flyer has revealed the director of the upcoming film who will be Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Yamamuro is the Animation Director of various Dragon Ball Z films, including the 2012 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. The 2015 film will be his debut directing role.
The website for the film has opened with the tagline “The worst wish in history. That is the beginning of despair”, and released two new visuals. The first is seen above with Goku, that was on the flyer and film’s announcement. The second visual is of Shenron:
The recently announced 2015 Dragon Ball Z movie will be the 15th installment in a prodigious series of films. The film will feature concept, screenplay and character design courtesy of the franchise creator himself, Akira Toriyama.
Toriyama confirms that this latest installment be an original story, like its predecessor Dragon Ball Z Movie 14: Kami to Kami. In addition to carefully drawing the art for the movie, Toriyama is “fussing over the smallest dialogue lines.” He teases that the story is still a secret, but will be “utterly funny.”
Emphasizing the effort he has put into this new film, Toriyama said that even his first editor – although usually taciturn – praised him for the work he has done. Toriyama is confident that fans will be able to thoroughly enjoy the movie. He is currently drawing up new character designs, and asks his fans to look forward to the movie.
The new upcoming Dragon Ball Z film will be airing during Golden Week next year in the Spring 2015 season. More information on the film will release in the upcoming months.

Every season, there are a bunch of OVAs that get released for anime that had previously aired. Most of the time, they are ones I’m not interested in, either because I haven’t watched the anime or I don’t feel the need to watch another episode. However, three OVAs came out fairly recently that interested me.
This one’s a little bit older, but I don’t believe it was translated until recently or I just wasn’t aware of it being done until now.
Normally, I hate fan service. Constant breast and panty shots annoy me to no end. So you probably wouldn’t have expected me to like Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru (NouCome for short). NouCome is moe and fanservice incarnate. If someone wanted to know what a moe anime is, please point them at NouCome. Cute girls, big breasts, loli teachers, and a harem is pretty much everything you need to know about this anime. But, the twist in NouCome is that the male protagonist is forced to make random choices, called the “Absolute Choice”. If he doesn’t, he is forced to endure pain until he decides on one choice. But, these twists are usually perverted in nature which leads to absolutely hilarious moments of fan service that can’t be taken seriously at all. For example, one episode is devoted to him having to look at a girl’s panties or he won’t be able to get rid of his choice problem.
However, the anime constantly censors the panty shots until he just looks at a pair of girl’s panties that gets tossed to him. Then they show the girl’s panties. It was crazy scenarios like that that made the anime so enjoyable to watch and, if I had to make a list of my top 10 comedy anime, this would make it on there. It was fanservice done right, and that’s why I loved it so much. So obviously, I was excited for the OVA. The anime itself was also shorter than most, being only 10 episodes. I wanted to watch more after I had finished it.
The OVA could potentially take place at any point in the timeline, but I would assume it would be near the end or after the ending of the anime. In the OVA, the male protagonist, Kanada Amakusa, gets sucked into a visual novel after the Absolute Choice popped up again. He has to reach the end of the novel before he can leave. However… the Absolute Choice never specified which ending he’s required to get…
This seems like a simple task to accomplish, especially since he has previously played through the particular visual novel. However, instead of the in-game choices, the Absolute Choice has its own idea of how to play the game. The situation plays out in a perverted fashion, which makes his situation funny as he gets more desperate. In addition, a couple of the characters have been changed with the main cast of girls from the anime which confuses him because they act like themselves instead of the characters from the game.
This OVA was worth it for me, even though I felt like the tone was taken a little too seriously. The fan service felt forced, like it came out of any other anime instead of the unique style the rest of the anime had. Regardless, it was worth it just for the last two or three minutes since that’s when I laughed the most. That’s where I felt like I was watching my good old NouCome again. I still hold out hope for a second season, or at the very least, more specials or OVAs.
Kyoto Animation is known for their cutesy slice of life anime. I myself am a big fan of their anime – they’re my favourite animation studio. They have great art, animation, and most of the time, have great OPs and EDs. Kyoukai no Kanata is a bit of a departure from their usual routine. While it does contain slice of life elements, the majority of the anime is based on fantasy. Kyoukai no Kanata is the first anime since Munto in 2009, that is not slice of life focused. Kyoukai no Kanata‘s plot involved humans called Spirit World Warriors fighting against monsters called youmus. The story is focused on Akihito Kanbara, a half-human, half-youmu and Mirai Kuriyama, a Spirit World Warrior that uses an ancient and hated way of fighting. KnK had a decent story, but Kyoto Animation got bogged down with doing slice of life episodes that they didn’t end up having time to properly do the story justice. Aside from the two protagonists, I found the other characters uninteresting. However, in typical Kyoto Animation fashion, the art and animation was top-notch. The action scenes were amazing to look at since everything ran so smoothly. In addition… Mirai Kuriyama was just way too cute… Anyway, let’s get to the OVA.
The plot of Episode 0 is in its name, it takes place three years before the start of the anime. This is the story of how Akihito met Mitsuki Nase and Hiroomi Nase and the events that led up to the start of the anime. Hiroomi was given the task of taking Akihito into protective custody because of his half-human, half-youmu abilities. There was another reason to take him in as well, but that’s a spoiler for the anime.
I can’t really talk more about the episode itself because it really does help lay the foundations for the start of the anime. All of the remaining questions I had about the story of the anime was laid to rest after I watched this episode. It explained a lot, and I feel if this episode was included somewhere in the anime itself, it would have been so much better. If you watched Kyoukai no Kanata, you really should give this a watch.
Just the very premise of Girls und Panzer made me raise my eyebrows. Girls driving tanks, and taking part in actual tank battles? In addition, only girls are allowed to take part in this after-school activity? Okay… However, once I turned my mind off to the ridiculous premise, I was actually treated to a good story. The plot of the anime is that these girls from this school must take part in a national tournament and become the champions. It’s a simple story and episodic in nature, but it was done very well. The tank battles and the recreation of classic tanks was done with such a great attention to detail. This university history major has to tip his hat to the animation team. The OVA was meant to address one fight in particular; the fight against the school, Anzio. In the anime, they spent an entire episode building up to the Anzio fight. But, once their preparations were complete, they skipped to the end of the fight and didn’t even show a second of action. It left me wondering if somehow I had an incomplete copy of it, but that was actually it. I was disappointed that they had skipped out on the action.
The OVA goes more into detail on the Anzio battle: the build-up to it, the preparations, and the battle itself. They introduce the girls from Anzio, which is always something they do before the fight in each episode. They also go into a bit more of the story and answer a couple of minor questions I had after watching the anime. Another thing to note is that this OVA is 37 minutes long, which means they really had time to go in depth with the fight and we’re treated to a great battle. For what the OVA was, it was very enjoyable and it was nice to see that missing part of the anime put back in.
Score: 8/10
If you’re a fan of these anime, I would recommend checking them out because they were enjoyable watches. They help improve on the story and answer questions that were left over after the anime finished.

One of the past holiday’s biggest film was Disney’s Frozen. Since its release, it has become one of the highest grossing film of all time and has made a massive impact in numerous online communities. The film released last in Japan in March this year, but it didn’t stop the hype train where it broke many Japanese Box Office records. And now, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has just released a limited edition Frozen PlayStation 4.
This Frozen themed PS4 has an laser engraved etch of the two protagonists of the film, Elsa and Anna, onto the console’s hard drive case. The hard drive itself is 500GB and the Frozen limited edition PlayStation 4 is priced at ¥42,980 (~$429.80 USD) and will be bundled with the typical accessories.
Sony has released many limited edition consoles for Japan as well as unique accessories, such as the PlayStation 3 bento box, that never see an international release. Many of these are custom etches or vinyls, but nonetheless having more options, instead of just the jet black, is always welcome.
Frozen has been constantly number one at the Japanese box office and first place in Amazon Japan’s home media sales since it’s release. It has grossed $243,533,423 USD over in Japan alone and still continues to dominate many community sites, such as Pixiv and Tumblr.
Today, we’ll be taking a look at the summer-themed June issue of JList’s Japanese Snack Subscription.
The card in the picture below reads:
In Japan, the Summer brings images of Okinawa, summer festivals, and fireworks, so we’ve selected some great summer flavors we think you will enjoy.
June Japanese Snack Subscription
Umaibo: Tonkatsu (Pork) Flavor
I always love having the chance to try different umaibo flavors. Last time I got to try the teriyaki hamburger flavor, and today I got to try the tonkatsu (pork) flavor. Umaibo is a popular corn based snack which you can see very often in Japanese convenience stores. Notice the cat mascot, Umaemon? His name is a pun of the popular anime character Doraemon.
Umaibo’s consistency is similar to a Cheetos, and this one tastes very strongly of pork and is quite well seasoned. If you ever have the chance to try a umaibo, I would definitely recommend it!
Okinawa Kamukamu Shikuwasa Cirtus
These are based on the Citrus depressa (also known as the Taiwan tangerine, flat lemon, hirami lemon, or thin-skinned flat lemon) fruit. They have a very fresh taste, soft but chewy and have a sour flavour to them. I would recommend giving these a try if you love sour candy.
Milk & Coffee Flavored Mugipon Puffs
These are a cereal-like snack: you can either eat them alone, or with milk like I did. They aren’t strong in taste compared to other coffee candies/snacks I have tried in the past; the taste is mild like a milk coffee. They remind me of the cereal brand golden puffs/sugar puffs. Why can’t other countries have cool cereals? I’m a huge coffee addict and I would love to eat a coffee-based cereal every morning.
No-Sugar Hananodo Sokko Clear Candy
Believe it or not, these have no sugar in them. These are hard candy, a lot like boiled candy. They aren’t sour or really sweet, and they taste fairly mild; they remind me of the Sakuma Drops I tried last time. They’re perfect if you want a candy that has taste but isn’t overwhelming. The vibrant colors are especially pleasing to behold.
Uguisu Kinako Traditional Sweets
I’m going to be honest, I did not like these. I only tried a little bit because I couldn’t bear the taste. It tastes overwhelmingly of toasted soybeans, and the texture is fudge-like and melts in your mouth. You’ll need a unique palate to conquer these.
Spicy Senbei Rice Cracker
As you can tell from the picture above, this is a giant HOT rice cracker. It is well seasoned and extremely hot (I may be overreacting but I’m not good with spicy food). I’ll be sure to finish it soon with a few beers, because beer solves everything. If you love spicy food and rice crackers, make sure to try this bad boy out.
Mukashi Rando Traditional Candy
These are a lot like throat pastilles, they clear your mouth/throat and have a unique taste which makes breathing in feel very cold. The packet comes with two different flavours, lemon mint and herb mint. The taste is mild but they work great for clearing your throat.
Traditional Ramune Candy
I’m sure you all know what ramune is, right? The refreshing, fizzy and fun Ramune Soda. You know, the bottled soda that has a marble in it? These candies are based on that, but are slightly different. They look like a candy that ought to be hard, but its appearance is deceptive. The moment they touch your tongue they instantly fizz up and melt in your mouth, leaving you with a sweet, bubbly soda taste.
Okinawa Mango Hi-Chew
These are a soft chewy candy with a sweet mango filling. They’re very chewy and have the succulent taste of a real mango. If I saw these in a store I would have to stock up on a few packets – if you’re a fan of mango you should definitely give these a try!
Penguin Soda Lollipop
The mascot of this cute penguin soda flavored lollipop reminded me of Elizabeth from Gintama. The flavor is as the title states – minus the penguin. It has a soda-like taste, and is very sweet.
Well that wraps up the June Japanese Snack Subscription from JList . What candy from this post do you now want to try? and if you’ve tried Japanese snacks/candy before, which have you tried? Let us know in the comments below!

I-it’s not like we enjoy making lists for you or anything! Baka!
One of the most popular archetypes in anime is one known as the “tsundere”. “What exactly is a tsundere?” some might ask. Minoru Shiraishi from Lucky Channel off popular anime Lucky Star might be able to provide an explanation! The term has faced some controversy in recent years, but in general it is known to mean a character who alternates between acting mean or aggressive, and acting loving and kind. It has taken a much broader definition however as it could also mean a person who has trouble expressing love and simply expresses it by behaving harsh or rude, or the original meaning of being a character who starts off mean but slowly becomes more loving and kind throughout the show.
In any case, with the help of a recent poll from fan-voting customary ranking system known as Charapedia, we at Haruhichan will be compiling for you a list of the top 20 most attractive female tsunderes in anime!
Voiced by Kana Hanazawa, Saaya is a very typical tsundere. In fact, even she knows that she is one! She is actually conscious of this aspect of her nature and actively tries to fix it – slowly and gradually making herself a more balanced person, emotionally speaking throughout the show. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t look cute when she’s blushing and has her eyebrows furrowed though!
While she may not be the type to get flustered or blush as frequently, Makise from Steins;Gate fame can certainly be classified as a tsundere. Voiced by Asami Imai, while she’s generally a lot more cool and calm, she certainly has no qualms with expressing her dissatisfaction with the series’ protagonist when she feels like it. Some may argue she isn’t really a tsundere but it can’t be argued that she is quite pretty – and thus it’s no surprise that she’s made the list!
Yui Kotegawa is one of the more harsh tsunderes. She’s quite strict and disciplined, and the fact that she’s the head of her high-school discipline committee proves it! She is incredibly intolerant of anything suggestive or perverted and while she has a soft side, her “tsun” shows more than anything else. Voiced by Kaori Nazuka, she both looks and sounds attractive and thus despite her attitude, she can certainly be considered an attractive tsundere.
Often found wearing a butterfly hairpin, this blonde beauty is surprisingly low on the rankings as she’s considered by many as the “best girl” in this relatively popular comedy/harem. Being a rich albeit clueless girl, she often hides her incompetence or negligence with her harsh behaviour. For the most part it comes off as cute though, so she certainly belongs on the list. Voiced by Kanae Ito, she sounds just as cute as she looks!
Well this one certainly needs no introduction – the site mascot and “Goddess” of tsunderes, Haruhi Suzumiya herself! Once again, known for her extremely abrasive and proactive attitude, often contrasting with the laid back one of show protagonist Kyun, she’s frequently forcing the SOS Brigade into different activities, being the “leader” in each one. While she never expresses her feelings outright, it can be safely assumed that she is at least somewhat interested in him – making their interactions that much cuter! Voiced by Aya Hirano, her voice compliments the pesky, determined look she often has as well as the tsundere demeanor she carries. The only thing we’re concerned about is her being so low on the list!
Unlike most of the older members in the light music club, underclassman Asuza is level headed and mature – and thus is always irritated or bothered in one way or the other by the antics of three of her more carefree seniors, not to mention her club advisor. However, in her heart she loves their company and enjoys making music with them. While there are no love interests in the show, she (along with her senior Mio) are perhaps the closest to a tsundere you’d find in the show K-ON! She may be mildly irritated, but in the end she finds her friends endearing all the same! Voice talent for this cutie is provided by Ayana Taketatsu.
Long running show Gintama‘s Kagura is one of the more over-the-top types of tsunderes, with her bouts of “tsun” being a lot more acute. The feisty little red head is still cute when going through them though! Being a relatively over-the-top show in general, coupled with being a very popular one, main female protagonist (voiced by Rie Kugimiya) has earned herself a spot on our list!
If you watched the video above earlier, you’d pretty much get what Kagami is all about, as he was talking about her. The purple haired tsundere twin is protective of her much more cutesy and innocent sister. She behaves like the older one, despite them being twins (and even possibly younger, as explained in one conversation). She is also often teased by her friend Konata and despite seeming angry and irritated, they’re still close friends and often seen hanging out or spending time with each other, so it can safely be deduced that she’s a tsundere – and a cute one at that! Emiri Kato leads her voice acting talent.
Yet another addition to our list is Hayate The Combat Butler‘s Nagi Sanzenin! The green eyed blonde loli voiced by Rie Kugimiya (just like Kagura!) deserves a spot on our list for her obvious tsundere traits, and she not only has a hard time confessing her true feelings, she also doesn’t like losing or admitting her faults. A very typical spoilt rich girl! Though being only 13, she qualifies as a loli as well for sure. In any case, she gets a spot on the list!
Yet another one from this series! Hinagiku is more of the “miss perfect” types seen in shows. She’s an idol for many in her school, captain of the kendo club and president of the school council too. Another one that can’t be seen as a pure tsundere but she does possess some tsundere qualities. A little older than the female protagonist but still a loli and arguably cuter! Voiced by Shizuka Ito, she definitely captures the tsun vibe in her voice!
Now here’s one that we all feel deserves a spot. Whether your like her personality or not, you have to agree that Iori looks adorable. She puts up a cute front for the fans (being an idol and all, if one didn’t know from the title) but with her friends or producers she lets her inner self show – and it is not pretty! But at the same time it’s endearing because of how cute she looks during it, and she does have a hidden soft side, even if it does show very rarely. The talented Rie Kugimiya voices her as well!
While many consider her to be irritating, one cannot deny that she’s an attractive girl! And being a popular anime, it’s no surprise that this very outright tsundere red head was voted to be on the list. Asuka embodies a lot of the qualities of both the classic and modern definitions of the word and looks cute doing it too. Some people just can’t resist the twin tails either! Voiced by Yuko Miyamura, she has a pretty voice to go with the looks. If only her character wasn’t so annoyed at times!
Yet another example of a textbook tsundere is Zero no Tsukaima‘s Louise de la Vallière. With her pink eyes and hair, she’s certainly animated to look pretty, even if her behaviour is incredibly “tsun” for the most part. But for some of the more masochistic fans, watching her antics is quite entertaining. Some would definitely like watching her character! Yet another character voiced by Rie Kugimiya!
Known to many as the “Queen of Tsunderes”, the palmtop tiger Taiga Aisaka earns the number seven spot on the list for most attractive tsunderes. While she definitely holds the qualities of tsunderes – mostly as over compensation for her small size – she’s also adorable in her own way and though often overreacting, she’s likeable as ultimately her show has a satisfying ending, and a truly annoying tsundere would not have made that possible. It comes as no surprise that she too is voiced by… you guessed it… Rie Kugimiya!
At this point we may as well say that the best tsundere of all time is Rie Kugimiya because she’s voiced our next ranked candidate too! Shana from Shakugan no Shana. She has the appearance of a very typical moe character but it wouldn’t take long to find that she too could be argued to be a tsundere. She definitely gets the tsun part at least! She’s also a loli as she appears to only be around twelve years old. Quite an interesting character and worth a spot on the list! Though it’s debatable whether or not the spot should be this high.
A relatively more recent entrant, with Shaft head-tilt and all comes the gorgeous blonde; Chitoge Kirisaki from Nisekoi – member of the strange love triangle from the show. She’s pretty and it’s not difficult to root for her in the show and she’s one of the few tsunderes that seem to have been done right. Voiced by Rie… Just kidding! Voiced by Nao Toyama, Chitoge is one of the few that most would agree deserves a spot on a list like this one.
This seems to be where the list begins to show some true quality. While it’s easy to write Maki off as a tsundere, she’s more than that. An indescribable way of carrying herself and dealing with others that makes her adorable to any who watch the show. It must be seen to understood! But she looks beautiful whether you watch the show or not, so she has without a doubt earned her spot within the top five of the list! She is voiced by singer and voice actress “Pile”.
Kirino is one of those tsunderes that you either love or you hate. Being a model, it’s well known that she’s incredibly cute – it’s just that her “tsun” takes over sometimes. Way over! Her dynamic with her brother is often frustrating and difficult to bear with and their relationship remains off and on throughout. But in the end, this blonde, blue eyed beauty (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu) belongs on a list such as thing one, though her place might be debated heatedly by some!
Once again difficult to place as a solid “tsundere” as such, she does carry some of the qualities although she’s a unique character in that sense. Her personality is relatively more balanced and developed and her appearance carries quite a lot of sex appeal. Her lewd teasing and poses certainly help woo audiences into giving her a higher ranking on the list too! Her voice is that of Chiwa Saito.
And finally for our top spot – Misaka Mikoto! Her holding the top spot might be a surprise to many, but it’s undeniable that her “tsun” shows in the cutest of ways – one which actually makes audiences like her more and find her even cuter rather than begin to feel irritated or annoyed with her. Her relatively more balanced personality, her prowess in combat and ability to maintain herself in tough situations coupled with her character development make her a good character, and also an adorable tsundere. Voiced by Rina Satou, this one was voted the best tsundere in anime!
That concludes our list, ladies and gentlemen. While some may seem unjustified in being here, simply because they don’t qualify as tsundere or because they aren’t done in the best possible way, making them seem annoying – the rankings were based on user votes as seen in the survey linked above.
Do you think the list should have been different? Do you feel someone who should be here isn’t? Let us know in the comments section!
