Ao no Exorcist is a Japanese supernatural action manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Katou. The manga has been serialized in Jump SQ magazine by Shueisha since April 2009, with individual chapters collected into sixteen tankōbon volumes as of January 4, 2016. The story revolves around Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he is the son of Satan born from a human woman and is the inheritor of Satan’s powers. When Satan kills Rin’s guardian, Rin decides to become an exorcist in order to defeat his father.

The series was adapted into an anime television series by A-1 Pictures during 2011 and adapted into an anime film (Ao no Exorcist Gekijouban) in December 2012. Viz Media has licensed the manga for North American production, with the first volume released in April 5, 2011. Aniplex of America also released the anime’s DVDs in English regions.

The series has been well received by readers with sales having received a boost thanks to the anime’s release. Publications for manga and anime compared the series with other shonen manga but still praised the series’ story and artwork.

Ao no Exorcist synopsis from MAL:

Humans and demons are two sides of the same coin, as are Assiah and Gehenna, their respective worlds. The only way to travel between the realms is by the means of possession, like in ghost stories. However, Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, cannot find a suitable host to possess and therefore, remains imprisoned in his world. In a desperate attempt to conquer Assiah, he sends his son instead, intending for him to eventually grow into a vessel capable of possession by the demon king.

Ao no Exorcist follows Rin Okumura who appears to be an ordinary, somewhat troublesome teenager—that is until one day he is ambushed by demons. His world turns upside down when he discovers that he is in fact the very son of Satan and that his demon father wishes for him to return so they can conquer Assiah together. Not wanting to join the king of Gehenna, Rin decides to begin training to become an exorcist so that he can fight to defend Assiah alongside his brother Yukio.

A countdown is ticking down to July 4th at 12:00am JST on the Blue Exorcist website. Whether it’s a new anime, live action movie, Blu-ray Boxset or a Pachinko game, all will be revealed on the due date.

Nioh Receives New Trailer, 2nd Demo in August

Nioh

KOEI Tecmo Games, the company behind the new Dark Souls-like Japanese style RPG, began streaming a new trailer for the game on Wednesday from their official website. The trailer reveals new monsters, bosses, characters, and voice acting.

In addition to this new trailer, there will also be a second demo for the game, downloadable on the PS4 in August. The game’s first demo launched on April 26, and more than 850,000 players downloaded it.

Nioh is set to release sometime this year in Japan and the West. Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series, Final Fantasy arcade) is developing the game.

New artist, Yosuke Katayama, launched a manga adaptation of the game in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on May 9.

Nioh Receives New Trailer, 2nd Demo in August

Nioh follows William, a bond-haired, blue-eyed samurai who arrived in Japan during the Age of Warring States, when the land was beset with supernatural entities.

KOEI Tecmo Games’ general producer, Kou Shibusawa, is working on the game. When the game was first announced, before KOEI merged with Tecmo, it was romanized as Ni-Oh, as a PlayStation 3 release in 2004. At that time, it was based on concepts from the acclaimed film director Akira Kurosawa (The Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Ran).

Pokemon Go Slated for Late July Release

1

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto announced during Nintendo’s Treehouse presentation at E3 2016 on Wednesday that the “Pokemon GO Plus” accessory will be released in late July and will cost 34.99 USD. The accessory is compatible with the Pokemon GO smartphone game, which is running field tests in Japan, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. They also added at the very end of their Pokemon GO presentation that they will have to release the Pokemon GO app before the Pokemon GO Plus accessory is released.

GAME FREAK’s Junichi Masuda, the music composer for Pokemon GO, appeared at the presentation and confirmed that there are plans to “eventually add some kind of connectivity” between Pokemon GO and the main Pokemon games, such as the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. However, he mentioned that when Pokemon GO first launches he wants players to really focus on the core aspect of the game, and said they will add new features like trading later.

Players will use the Pokemon GO app to find and catch Pokemon in the real world using location-based technology. Just as in the game series, certain Pokemon will be specific to certain areas. Water types can be found near lakes or oceans, grass types near wooded areas, etc.

Nintendo hopes that with the addition of the Pokemon GO Plus accessory it will let players enjoy their surroundings instead of just staring at their smartphone screens. The device can be used as either a wristband or it can be clipped onto suit jackets, etc. The Pokemon GO Plus device will have LED and vibration functions that will let you know when there is a Pokemon nearby. You can also catch a Pokemon using only the accessory and it will let you know if you were successful or not. The device uses Bluetooth technology to connect to players’ smartphones. Players will be able to play the game without the added accessory. Pokemon GO Slated for Late July Release 2 Pokemon GO Slated for Late July ReleasePokemon GO Slated for Late July Release 3

You can set your smartphone to vibrate when a Pokemon is nearby. Players can also find PokeStops and Pokemon Gyms at “interesting places, such as public art installations, historical markers, and monuments.” At PokeStops players can acquire Poke Balls and other items that will help you on your journey. After the player has explored enough, these PokeStops will offer Pokemon Eggs that will hatch after the player walks a certain number of steps.

Pokemon Gyms will be empty until players assign Pokemon to them. Each player can only assign one Pokemon to the Gym, and so must work with a team to defend the Gym. At a certain point in the game, players will be asked to join one of three teams.

Players gain levels as a trainer to catch more powerful Pokemon and receive better items. Catching enough of one kind of Pokemon will allow you to evolve that Pokemon. The game will also offer achievement medals.

Niantic Labs and The Pokemon Company revealed the augmented reality smartphone app last September. Niantic has raised 20 million USD from The Pokemon Company, Nintendo, and Google for the game, and the three investors will give Niantic another 10 million USD upon meeting unspecified performance goals.

Pokemon GO will be available for Android and iPhones in late July 2016.

Video Game Based on Kentaro Miura’s Berserk Manga Announced

Japanese publisher and developer Koei Tecmo has revealed a brand new trailer announcing their next title: a video game based on Kentaro Miura’s Berserk manga. This announcement video actually does not preview any gameplay, but does showcase a pivotal moment from the series in cinematic graphics. The game itself is titled as Berserk Musou, which means that its gameplay will be similar to Koei Tecmo’s Warriors (Musou) games. More details will be revealed on June 23rd.

Koei Tecmo is currently producing a Warriors (Musou) game based on Berserk, coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and on PC via Steam.

Berserk’s extremely dark, violent setting matches up with Omega Force’s promise of the most evil Musou game in history. The trailer doesn’t reveal anything beyond the game’s existence and dark tone.

You can visit the official website where details will be revealed on June 23 here: http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/berserk-musou/

Pokémon Sun and Moon E3 2016 Trailer Revealed

0

Explore the Alola Region of Pokémon Sun and Moon in New Trailer

During Nintendo’s showcase at E3 2016 a brand new trailer has been released for Pokémon Sun and Moon. The new video shows off more Pokemon that will make their debut in the upcoming games. The video also shows off a brand new mode for trainers to battle each other: Battle Royal, a 4 player free for all battle.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be releasing on the 3DS in North America and Japan on November 18, and in Europe on November 23.

Here is the game’s previous trailer:

Here are the boxart for the games:

The three starter Pokemon in Pokémon Sun and Moon are:

  • Name: Rowlet
    Category: Grass Quill Pokémon
    Height: 1 ’00 ”
    Weight: 3.3 lbs.
    Type: Grass/Flying
    Starting Move: Leafage

Pokemon-Sun-Moon-Starter-RowletPokemon-Sun-Moon-Starter-Rowlet-Move

The first of the potential partners is the highly adaptable Grass Quill Pokémon, Rowlet. This Pokémon can fly silently through the skies, sneaking up on its opponent without being noticed. It can attack its opponents using powerful kicks, and it can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers. Rowlet can survey its environment and turn its neck nearly 180 degrees from front to back, so it can see directly behind itself. When in battle, Rowlet turns its head to face its Trainer when waiting for instructions.

  • Name: Litten
    Category: Fire Cat Pokémon
    Height: 1 ’04 ”
    Weight: 9.5 lbs.
    Type: Fire
    Starting Move: Ember

Pokemon-Sun-Moon-Starter-LittenPokemon-Sun-Moon-Starter-Litten-Move

The cool-headed Fire Cat Pokémon, Litten, is the next choice for a first-partner Pokémon. Litten’s fur is rich in oils and is immensely flammable. It constantly grooms itself by licking its coat, collecting loose fur into balls. It then ignites these hairballs to create fireball attacks. When the time comes for Litten to molt, it burns off all of its fur in one glorious blaze.

  • Name: Popplio
    Category: Sea Lion Pokémon
    Height: 1 ’04 ”
    Weight: 16.5 lbs.
    Type: Water
    Starting Move: Water Gun

Pokemon-Sun-Moon-Starter-PopplioPokemon-Sun-Moon-Starter-Popplio-Move

The third possibility is the acrobatic Sea Lion Pokémon, Popplio. Popplio can create balloons made of water from its nose and utilize them to create a variety of different strategies and attacks in battle. This Pokémon is better at moving in the water than on land, and can swim at speeds over 25 mph. On land, it uses the elasticity of the balloons it creates to perform jumps and acrobatic stunts.
