4

Shinji Takamatsu, the Director of the currently ongoing TV anime adaptation Nami Sano’s Sakamoto desu ga? (Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto) manga has revealed that the 13th and final episode of the anime will not air as scheduled.

Sakamoto-desu-ga-Anime-Visual-02

During the anime’s broadcast, coverage of the Kumamoto earthquake delayed the 2nd episode of the anime by one week, and subsequently every episode thereafter. Since the anime was scheduled for 13 episodes, it would only have 13 weeks of broadcast. Due to the delay, the 12th episode will be the final episode that will air on TBS.

The 13th episode, which has been revealed to be made specially for TV, will not be shown. It is not known if the final episode will air on TBS at all. Takamatsu expressed his disappointment to fans regarding the news. However, the 13th and final episode will still be bundled in the anime’s 5th and last Blu-ray and DVD volume. It will be releasing in Japan on October 26th and will also feature episode 12.

Sakamoto-desu-ga-Anime-Visual

Sakamoto desu ga? (Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto) is a comedy school manga written and illustrated by Nami Sano. The series ran from 2012 till December last year in Kadokawa’s harta magazine. A total of 4 volumes have been published, with the last volume being released on January 14th.

Here is the series synopsis from MAL:

First year high school student Sakamoto isn’t just cool, he’s the coolest! Almost immediately after starting school, he began attracting everyone’s attention. The girls love him, and most of the boys resent him. There’s even a boy in the class who works as a model, but who is constantly upstaged by Sakamoto! No matter what tricks the other boys try to play on him, Sakamoto always manages to foil them with ease and grace. Though Sakamoto may seem cool and aloof, he helps others when asked, such as in the case of the boy in his class who was being constantly bullied. No matter what difficulties Sakamoto encounters, he moves through his high school life with confidence and class

The 13th and final episode of the Sakamoto desu ga? anime will not be airing due to special coverage of the Kumamoto earthquake, pushing the anime’s scheduled one episode behind. Beginning its tale in 19th century England, young aristocrat Jonathan Joestar finds himself locked in bitter rivalry with Dio Brando, a low-born boy who Jonathan’s father took under his wing after the death of Dio’s father. Discontent with his station in life, Dio’s fathomless lust to reign over all eventually leads him to seek the supernatural powers of an ancient Aztec stone mask in the Joestar’s possession—an artifact that will forever change the destiny of Dio and Jonathan for generations to come. Fifty years later, in 1938 New York City, Jonathan’s grandson Joseph Joestar must take up his grandfather’s mission and master the abilities necessary to destroy the stone mask and its immensely powerful creators who threaten humanity’s very existence, the Pillar Men.

Koutetsujou no Cabaneri synopsis from Haruhichan:

As the world is in the middle of an industrial revolution, a monster appears that cannot be defeated unless its heart, which is protected by a layer of iron, is pierced. By infecting humans with its bite, the monster can create aggressive and undead creatures known as Kabane. On the island Hinomoto, located in the far east, people have built stations to shelter themselves from these creatures. People access the station, as well as transport wares between them, with the help of a locomotive running on steam, called Hayajiro. Ikoma, a boy who lives in the Aragane station and helps to build Hayajiro, creates his own weapon called Tsuranukizutsu in order to defeat the creatures. One day, as he waits for an opportunity to use his weapon, he meets a girl named Mumei, who is excused from the mandatory Kabane inspection. During the night, Ikuma meets Mumei again as he sees Hayajiro going out of control. The staff on the locomotive has turned into the creatures. The station, now under attack by Kabane, is the opportunity Ikoma has been looking for.

Rumor: Resident Evil 7 to Be Announced at E3, Returning to Its Horror Roots

1

Rumor RE7 At E3

Fans of the Resident Evil franchise have been a little disappointed in the latest entries of the franchise. The beloved horror games they had come to love began to turn into more action-based gameplay and story elements. The most commonly discussed Resident Evil 6 is a prime example. Based on tweets made by the CEO of the Tokyo-based game industry Kantan Games, Dr. Serkan Toto, there seems to be hope for the franchise yet.

“About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it’s in development,” tweeted Serkan Toto. “The entire game will go back to Resident Evil’s horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.”

He continued, “they will show it at E3. The Resident Evil 7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on Metal Gear Solid V and P.T. at Kojima Productions.”

However, this is still a rumor, so it’s best not to get too excited. Although Capcom did say they were planning a “full-scale offensive” for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, and they also hinted at having a couple major titles in the works, with one expected to sell in the 4 million unit-range and the other in the 2 million unit-range.

If there is a new Resident Evil on the horizon, what would you want to see them improve upon?

Say Goodbye to Sayonara

Say Goodbye to Sayonara

Japaneses people have been slowly transitioning from “sayonara” to other phrases as a way to say goodbye. According to a recent survey conducted by Japan’s livedoor NEWS, the average Japanese person doesn’t use the word “sayonara” at all. Having surveyed 30 people of varying ages and genders if they use the word, and the results showed 21 of the 30 people – 70 percent – said they “don’t use it” or “don’t uses it at all.” When narrowing down the younger crowd 20-30 year olds, only 11 out of the 14 – 80 percent – said the same. Although the survey consisted of a very small number of people, I’m sure there’s a trend here. When asked why they don’t use the word “sayonara”, here are some reasons they gave:

“I don’t like ‘sayonara’ because it makes our meeting feel like the end.”
“Saying ‘sayonara’ makes it seem like we won’t meet again, so I don’t use it. It feels like a cold word.”
“At work or with family and friends, I always just say ‘see you later’ instead.”

“Sayonara” does have an air of finality to it. It sounds as if this is the last time you’ll see that person, when in fact you could see them again tomorrow.

So how do the Japanese choose to say goodbye? Luckily, the Japanese language has many different phrases used when parting with someone. Here are a few:

“Ja ne. (See ya)
Mata ne/kondo/ashita/raishuu. (See you later/next time/tomorrow/next week)
Shitsurei shimasu. (I’m sorry for having been rude – on ending a phone call, leaving work, etc.)
Osaki ni shitsurei shimasu. (I’m sorry for rudely leaving before you [at work])
Otsukaresama desu. (You must be tired, thank you for your work.)
Gokigenyou. (Fare thee well – if you want to sound fancy)
Bai bai. (If you want to sound cute or like a JK)”

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump since July 19, 1997; the individual chapters are being published in tankoubon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997, and the 75th volume released as of September 2014. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as One Piece in order to become the next Pirate King.

The chapters have been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999. Since then, the still continuing series has aired over 672 episodes. Additionally, Toei has developed thirteen animated feature films, two OVA’s, and five television specials.

One Piece has received wide critical acclaim, primarily for its art, characterization, humor and story. Several volumes of the manga have broken publishing records, including highest initial print run of any book in Japan and the first book to sell over three million copies in Oricon history. As of 2013, the series had over 345 million volumes in circulation worldwide, making it the best-selling manga series in history.

One Piece synopsis from Haruhichan:

Gol D. Roger was known as the Pirate King, the strongest and most infamous being to have sailed the Grand Line. The capture and death of Roger by the World Government brought a change throughout the world. His last words before his death revealed the location of the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece. It was this revelation that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates, men who dreamed of finding One Piece(which promises an unlimited amount of riches and fame), and quite possibly the most coveted of titles for the person who found it, the title of the Pirate King.

Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.
