Ikkitousen synopsis from MAL:

Seven schools are constantly ‘at war’ with each other, and the students within – both male and female – have become skilled fighters and constantly battle with rival schools. Their lives and fates are guided by strange jewels that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Sangokushi period. One girl, Sonsaku Hakufu, has recently moved to Japan and is apparently destined to unite the schools as her counterpart united seven countries long ago. But, like all heroes, there is a darker side to her fate, and as always there is a constant struggle by those around her to break the chains of their own destinies and make their own lives.

Youkai Watch Possibly Heading West in 2015

Youkai Watch Poster Nintendo 3DS JRPG

こんにちはみんなさん (Hello everyone!)

The extremely popular JRPG for Nintendo 3DS, Youkai Watch, has an extremely high possibility of making its way to the west next year. The president of the development company Level-5 (the developers behind Ni No Kuni), – Akihiro Hino, said “We are in development planning to release it sometime next year. We already have support from a foreign toy maker company saying that it will be a definite success.” While this is not a confirmation, it sure sounds like one. The game has sold millions in Japan, and its sequel broke the million units sales mark in just four days. Youkai Watch was initially released in July 2013 but, it didn’t see success until a few months later when the game’s popularity suddenly exploded. The game has spawned a manga, a currently airing anime that still remains popular, and a movie that will release later this year. The game has even been credited for increasing 3DS sales in Japan. A trademark was filed in the West at the beginning of the year, which is what put the game on the map for Western gamers.

Many comparisons have been made between Yokai Watch and Pokemon. A few people have called it as kind of the Pokemon of this generation. The gameplay is similar: a young boy (or girl) comes into possession of a watch that allows him to summon Yokai at will. Yokais are obtained through medals which the player collects throughout the game. The goal is to protect the town from evil Yokais.

This is a game that JRPG fans have been looking forward to getting localized for a while, so hopefully this is the first confirmation of a localization. Have you guys been looking for a localization for Youkai Watch?

Trailer: Pokémon ORAS – Mega Slowbro Reveal

0

With a slew of several new mega evolutions being revealed for the upcoming Pokémon remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS, it is no surprise that yet another has been announced. This week the Pokémon Company released their newest mega evolution reveal trailer featuring the water/psychic type Slowbro! It shows the transformation as well as how the mega evolution looks in battle. Some pretty sweet stuff! The trailer for the newest announcement can be seen below.

The Pokémon Company has also given some additional information about the mega evolution saying,

  • When Slowbro Mega Evolves into Mega Slowbro, its energy gathers in the Shellder clamped onto its tail. As a result, the hardness of its shell is boosted, making its armor incredibly strong. In battle, Mega Slowbro balances on its tail, wearing Shellder as an impenetrable armor over its body.
  •  Mega Slowbro has the Shell Armor Ability, meaning opponents can never land a critical hit, making Mega Slowbro a defensive threat in battle. Its Defense and Sp. Attack also increase, making it a great teammate for long battles requiring high endurance.

Pokémon Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire Mega Slowbro

It certainly looks like a desirable mega evolution one would keep handy in their team both for competitive as well as more casual trainers. We look forward to playing with one and seeing how it goes! Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be available for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on November 21st, 2014 in North America and is available for pre order in most gaming outlets.

Have any thoughts to share regarding the latest announcement? Waiting for something more impressive perhaps? Let us know in the comments section below. Until next time, Tomoki signing out!
