Ajin 2nd Season Slated for October

The wraparound jacket of the eighth volume of Gamon Sakurai’s Ajin sci-fi action manga series, has revealed that a second TV anime season is scheduled for October 2016. The eighth volume is scheduled to be released on May 6 and will also bundle an OVA that adapts the Shinya Nakamura incident.

Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko Janai to Omotta? is a Japanese light novel series, written by Shibai Kineko and illustrated by Hisasi. ASCII Media Works have published eight volumes since 2013 under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation with art by Kazui Ishigami began serialization in ASCII Media Works’ seinen manga magazine Dengeki G‘s Comic from August 30, 2014, and has been collected in a single tankōbon volume. An anime television series adaptation has been announced.

Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta? synopsis from MAL:

Our naïve protagonist proposes to a female character in an online game, only to find out that the player is actually a guy. Traumatized by that, he decides to never trust a girl online, but now, two years later, a female player is proposing to him. What will happen?

New K Anime Announced: K Seven Stories

During the recent K-Do you know K? event at the Pacifico Yokohama, in Yokohama, Kanagawa, the event’s staff revealed that a brand new K anime project is currently in production. In addition, a stage play and a dance project were also revealed. The new anime is titled K Seven Stories and a new visual was also unveiled.

The first staff members of the upcoming anime were also revealed:

Director and Anime Character Designer: Shingo Suzuki (K, Coppelion)
Animation Studio: GoHands (K, Seitokai Yakuindomo)

The announced stage play will be titled K-Lost Small World- and will be based on the 2014 K spin-off novel by Yukako Kabei. The play will be held at the AiiA 2.5 Theatre in Tokyo from July 22nd till July 24th, and will then be performed at the Kyoto Gekijou theater on July 30th and July 31st.

The event was also saw the debut of the series’ dance project, known as ChaLive (Character Live), that stars ONDY as Yashiro Isana, Keito Okuyama as Misaki Yata, and yuto as Saruhiko Fushimi. The K ChaLive will also be performed on June 10th on the 7th floor of the Animate store in Ikebukuro.

The main cast of the previous anime installments includes:

K, also known as K Project, is an original television anime series by the studio GoHands (Seitokai Yakuindomo, Coppelion). The series launched in October 2012 and was helmed by director Shingo Suzuki (Coppelion). The series received modest reception for its plot, but it was praised for the fluidity of the visuals and art. The creator of the series, GoRa (who also helped with the series’ composition), also wrote the story of the many adaptations of K. To date, the series has two prequel mangas, a side story manga, two light novels and a PlayStation Vita game. A sequel film to the anime series, titled K Missing Kings, was also produced and released in July 2013. The series received a second TV anime season titled K: Return of Kings.

Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:

Set in a world where history has taken a slightly different course from the one we’re familiar with, K follows the story of a young boy whose life is caught in a psychic war between seven kings.

Ashinaka High School is known for its unique setting: the entire campus is built on an island. Yashiro Isana, aka Shiro, is having lunch with a cat on one of the school rooftops. After his lunch break, Shiro goes on an errand for his classmate Kukuri to prepare for their upcoming school festival, only to be chased by some intimidating-looking men.

A brand new K anime project, titled K Seven Stories, is currently in production. Further information about the anime, including its format, will be revealed soon.

Under the Dog Kickstarter Anime Trailer Streamed & Slated for August 1st

The official website of the successful Kickstarter anime Under the Dog has finally revealed that the project will be released on August 1st. In addition to this, a new trailer was streamed.

The Kickstarter project was completed in late 2014 and had a target for a Spring 2016 release. In addition, Kickstarter rewards have been delayed and will be shipped later in the year. The release will have professional English subtitles in its digital and physical release.

The team producing the anime are all veterans of the industry who have worked on very prestigious projects in the past. Their talent combined can make the anime a stand out. Some of the key players in the anime’s production includes: director Masahiro Ando who worked on various Bones anime, character and mechanical designer Yusuke Kozaki, writer Jiro Ishii who directed the Visual Novel 428: Fusa Sareta Shibuya de which was adapted into the anime Canaan, all of which will be animated by Kinema Citrus (Barakamon, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0).

Under the Dog is a Sci-Fi anime set in Tokyo in 2025, 5 years after a specialised terrorist attack on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The UN have formed a covert forces branch in Tokyo to sought out the terrorists and any of their connections. An international school was set up to recruit gifted high school students with special abilities and enrol them into the elite death squad. To ensure that each squad member is at their peak and do not cross, their loved ones are embedded with a micro cranial bomb so when an agent goes out of protocol their loved ones face the consequence. The Agent’s speech and actions are also constantly monitored through a chip in their brain.

The Under the Dog anime is currently scheduled to release this August. Further information about its upcoming release will be revealed at a later date.

Haruhi Suzumiya Soundtrack Announced with Teaser for More to Be Revealed 2016

Lantis’ YouTube channel began streaming a video based on the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya franchise on Friday. The video has the cast of the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series to advertise the upcoming Haruhi Suzumiya compilation album which is scheduled to ship on July 7 for 4,900 yen (about US$46).

Aya Hirano (Haruhi) gushes about the SOS Brigade’s “YouTube debut” and says, “We’re planning to do lots of other stuff as the SOS Brigade this year, so make sure to check for updates!”

The Complete Soundtrack of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Kanso) will include the complete soundtracks of the first and second seasons (including previously unreleased tracks), along with the opening and ending themes, insert songs, and radio theme songs.

The album celebrates the 10th anniversary of the first television anime, which premiered in 2006.

Love Live! School Idol Project is an original anime produced by Sunrise studios that aired in January 2013. The conception of the anime project started in 2010 by Dengeki G’s Magazine. The editors wanted the project to be heavily influenced by fans, such as the costumes, hairstyles and names. Throughout this process, a manga of the project simply called Love Live! began in early 2012 by Sakurako Kimino and Arumi Tokita. The next part in the project was the anime series, followed by this app and an OVA. The second season of Love Live! School Idol Project aired last year and an anime film will be released this Summer.

Love Live! Sunshine!! was first announced in February 2015. The project’s key phrases are “Reader Participation,” “Inspired by μ’s,” and “Seaside Town Setting.” The group’s name, Aqours, was chosen by fans by popular vote after Dengeki G’s Magazine readers submitted possible names. After readers and fans cast 23,789 votes between June 1-11 last year, Aqours won with 4,644 votes.

Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! Anime Season 2 Visual Revealed

The official website of the anime adaptation of Yumi Nakata’s Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! (My Wife Is the Student Council President!) manga has revealed the first key visual for the series’ upcoming second season.

The title of the second season has also been revealed: Okusama ga Seito Kaichou!+! The first season of the anime will be streamed on Niconico and will also be rebroadcasted on AT-X this Summer.

Oku-Sama ga Seito Kaichou! (My Wife Is the Student Council President!) is a Japanese manga series by Yumi Nakata. It began serialization in Ichijinsha’s shounen manga magazine Comic Rex from 2011 and has been collected in seven tankobon volumes. The story was initially presented in 2007 as Oku-Sama ga Seito Kaichou, which was published in a single tankobon volume by Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd. in 2007. An anime television series adaptation by Seven premiered in July 2015.

Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:

The story begins with Izumi Hayato running to be student body president. But when a beautiful girl swings in promising the liberalization of love while flinging condoms into the audience, he ends up losing to her and becoming the vice president. At the student council meeting, the newly-elected president invites herself over to Izumi’s house, where she promptly announces she is to become Izumi’s wife thanks to an agreement—facilitated by alcohol—made between their parents when they were only 3.

Cardcaptor Sakura Gets New Manga Sequel Series

It was announced earlier this year that the Cardcaptor Sakura series would be receiving a new manga series, but there were no specifics announced at that time on whether it was a remake or a sequel. Nakayoshi magazine announced today that the new Cardcaptor Sakura manga series would be a sequel that takes place a couple of years after the end of the original manga. In this series, Sakura is in junior high school, where another prophetic dream sparks her new adventure. The series will run in Nakayoshi, and will be written by CLAMP. It will begin in the July issue of Nakayoshi.

The Cardcaptor Sakura series is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary in Japan, which had led people to believe that something might be done to celebrate. The manga was published by Nakayoshi and written by CLAMP back in May 1996, and ran through June 2000. The anime of Cardcaptor Sakura was produced by the studio Madhouse, and it aired from April 1998 to March 2000. The anime also had two movies made in 1999 and 2000. The anime series was hugely popular in Japan, and very well-received. It won multiple anime awards from magazines during its airing.

The anime is one of my personal favourites of all-time, Sakura is my favourite anime character, and the pairing of Sakura and the male lead, Syaoran, is one of my top couples in anime as well. I normally don’t read manga, but I’ll be reading this for sure. What do you guys think of the series getting a sequel after all these years?

The official website of ONE’s Mob Psycho 100 manga has announced that the series will be adapted into a TV anime this July. Additionally, the first visual, main cast, staff and promotional video were also revealed.

Mob Psycho 100 is a Japanese webcomic created by One, which began publication on Weekly Shonen Sunday Web Comics on April 18, 2012. A Chinese translation started publication in Taiwan on April 16, 2014. On December 1, 2015, an anime adaption by BONES was announced for release in 2016 and is now scheduled for July.

Mob Psycho 100 synopsis from MAL:

Shigeo Kageyama (a.k.a. “Mob”) is a 8th grader with psychic abilities. He could bend spoons and lift objects with his mind from a young age, but he slowly began to withhold from using his abilities in public due to the negative attention he received. Now, the only thing he wants is to become friends with a girl in his class, Tsubomi. Anime Adaptation of Akira Amano’s ēlDLIVE Announced

It has been revealed in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump that Akira Amano’s ēlDLIVE manga will be receiving a TV anime adaptation. The magazine opened a new website to reveal the announcement.

The TV anime adaptation of ēlDLIVE will be airing in 2017. The series will be animated by Studio Pierrot (Bleach, Naruto).

ēlDLIVE is an action Sci-Fi manga written and illustrated by Akira Amano. The series began in mid 2013 and is being published under Shueisha’s smartphone application Shonen Jump+ (formerly Jump Live). Amano is known for her 2004-2012 Katekyou Hitman Reborn!manga, which was also adapted into an anime in 2006.

Here is the series synopsis from MAL:

Chuuta Kokonose is an orphan who lives with his aunt. For as long as he can remember he’s had a voice in his head, but other than that he’s a normal boy—right until the day when a strangely-looking thing follows him home and teleports him to a place filled with more fantastic creatures. It’s a space police station, and Rein Brickke, the Chief of Solar System Department, tells him that he’s been chosen by the computer as a possible candidate to join the police force, although Misuzu Sonokata, a girl from Chuuta’s school with an angelic face and ill temper who turns out to be one of Rein Brickke’s subordinates, doesn’t think him suitable for such a job. Chuuta, who was shocked at first, decides to take aptitude test after being urged by the voice in his head and to prove Misuzu wrong.

A TV anime adaptation of ēlDLIVE will be airing in 2017 from Studio Pierrot. Further information about the series will be revealed at a later date.

Kantai Collection Anime Film Teaser Reveals Fall 2016 Release

Kadokawa’s official anime YouTube began streaming 45-second teaser for the upcoming Kantai Collection anime feature film on Saturday, announcing its fall 2016 release.

In addition to this, the official website for the upcoming anime film based on the Kantai Collection franchise launched a new visual last December. The visual was previously spotted at Kokusai-Tenjijo Station railway station ahead of December 29-31’s Comiket 89.

At the recent Summer Kan Colle Naval event, it was announced that an anime film based on the Kantai Collection franchise is currently in production and is scheduled to release in 2016. The first main image of the film was also released. The event screened footage that features the Kan-musume characters Fubuki, Mutsuki, Yuudachi, Akagi and Kaga, Hiryuu Kaini and Souryuu Kaini, the four Kongou sisters (Kaini), Kitakami and Ooi, Chokai Kaini, Yubari, Mutsu and Nagato, Kako Kaini and Furutaka Kaini, Zuikaku and Shoukaku, Shimakaze, Kuma, and Ooyodo.

Last March it was revealed at the ending scene of the final episode of the TV anime Kantai Collection that the series will get a sequel. The announcement was made at the end of episode 12 on Tokyo MX with the text indicating “Sequel production confirmed!!”.

The Twitter account of Kantai Collection: Kan Colle has revealed that the 2016 anime film is not the previously announced second season, so there will be both a film and second season out next year.

Kantai Collection is an online, card battle, browser game that is developed by Dmm.com that launched in April last year. The game currently has more than 2 million registered players and was 2013’s top Twitter trend in Japan. The game centers around naval card battles, where naval ships are represented by “Fleet Girls”. Players battle against other online in an attempt to gain more cards and levels. The game has been increasing with popularity since its release, with a slew of merchandising being released after the game’s release; from tabletop games to manga, and light novels to this anime and the PlayStation Vita game Kan Colle Kai. An anime adaptation of the series was produced for the Winter 2014/2015 anime season, directed by Keizo Kusakawa (Akuma no Riddle, Dog Days) and animated by Diomedea (Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Akuma no Riddle).
