Give Your Hug Pillow the Body Temperature of a Real Human

14

One of the struggles encountered with traditional hug pillows is that they could never grasp the warmth of a human body. Thanko Inc. recently announced the release of an inflatable hug pillow that is said to mimic the temperature of a real human.

A heated pad can be found in near the chest area of the inflatable pillow. Powered through a USB cable, the pad can be raised to a level of 36°C, creating the essence of snuggling next to a warm body.

The pillow is also sized to fit in standard dakimakura cases, so you can share the warmth with your favourite anime character for an enhanced experience. They are sold for 2,980 yen (about $25 USD) each on Rare Mono.

Aria the Animation synopsis from MAL:

Drift peacefully into Neo Venezia, a city on the planet Aqua (formerly known as Mars). By the 24th century, humans have found a way to colonize the previously uninhabitable planet. As futuristic as that sounds, Neo Venezia is still teeming with rustic beauty; gondolas on wide canals and waterways are the main mode of transportation. The city itself is a faithful replication of Manhome’s (the planet formerly known as Earth) Venice.

To make sure that residents and tourists alike get the most from Neo Venezia’s many wonders, companies offering guided tours via gondola were formed, one of which is named Aria Company.

This is the workplace of Akari Mizunashi, a free spirited teenager from Manhome who is now a novice Undine (the title given to tour guides). Join Akari as she becomes intimately acquainted with other Undine, tourists, Neo Venezia’s residents, and even the city itself, learning many valuable life lessons along the way, such as the wonderful truth that there are such things as manmade miracles.

Setsubun Celebrated with Illustrations

1

Setsubun is the day before the beginning of spring in Japan. The name literally means “seasonal division”, but usually the term refers to the spring Setsubun, properly called Risshun celebrated yearly on February 3 as part of the Spring Festival. In its association with the Lunar New Year, spring Setsubun can be and was previously thought of as a sort of New Year’s Eve, and so was accompanied by a special ritual to cleanse away all the evil of the former year and drive away disease-bringing evil spirits for the year to come. This special ritual is called mamemaki  (literally “bean scattering”). Setsubun has its origins in tsuina, a Chinese custom introduced to Japan in the eighth century.

We’ve compiled some of the Setsubun illustrations drawn by manga artists, illustratiors, animations and fans:
