High School DxD 3rd Season Slated for April 2015

It was announced at the 2014 Fujimi Fantasia Bunko event that the upcoming third anime season of Ichiei Ishibumi and Miyama-Zero’s High School DxD light novel series will be titled High School DxD BorN and will air from April next year. Additionally, the first visual, promotional video and character information for the series has also released on the anime’s official website.

High School DxD is a light novel series written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero. The series began serialization in 2008 in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine, before being published in their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. To date, there has been 18 compiled volumes. Three manga adaptation of the series have been published in 2010, 2012 and 2013, all of which have been written by Ishibumi. An anime adaptation was produced in 2012. It was animated by TNK (School Days) and directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa (Sora no Otoshimono: Tokeijikake no Angeloid, Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora). Two OADs were then released, and were then followed by the second season of the anime in 2013. A Nintendo 3DS game was also released later that year.

Issei Hyodo is your average perverted high school student whose one wish in life is to have his own harem, but he’s got to be one of the unluckiest guys around. He goes on his first date with a girl only to get brutally attacked and killed when it turns out the girl is really a vicious fallen angel. To top it all off, he’s later reincarnated as a devil by his gorgeous senpai who tells him that she is also a devil and now his master! One thing’s for sure, his peaceful days are over. In a battle between devils and angels, who will win?

Re-Kan! Anime Schedule, Visual and Staff Announced

In the September issue of Manga Time Jumbo that was released on August 2014, it was announced that Hinako Seta’s (artist for Shounen Onmyouji) school-comedy 4-panel manga, Re-Kan!, will receive an anime adaptation. Following the announcement, the official website for the anime has announced that it will air on spring season lineup next year, starting April. The cast for the anime will be announced soon.

Second Dragon Ball Z 2015 Movie Trailer Streamed

The second trailer has been released officially online for Dragon Ball Z Movie 15: Fukkatsu no F after being previewed on Japanese TV earlier. This new trailer features various battles that will be fought in the film and the dramatic return of the galactic lord, Frieza. The upcoming movie will be the 15th overall theatrical film in the Dragon Ball Z franchise. It will be an new original story written by the manga’s creator Akira Toriyama, similar to the 2012 Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film. Toriyama will be more involved with the upcoming film, being credited with the original concept, screenplay and character designs. The film will also feature Beerus, the God of Destruction, and his attendant Whis, from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Dragon Ball Z Movie 15: Fukkatsu no F will be releasing in Japanese theatres on April 18th 2015. The film itself will also be shown in traditional 2D and in 3D, the first time the franchise will be in 3D.

A small preview for Naruto Shippuuden Movie 7 “The Last” was recently aired on Japanese television for the film, which has just released today in Japan. This small scene showcases one of the of the leadup moments to the film’s climax and of course some interaction between Naruto and Hinata. Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto will have a large role in the film’s production, overseeing the plot and new original character designs for the movie. The film itself will be the 10th overall movie in Naruto and is part of a new greater project in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the franchise. The project itself is the Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project (Naruto’s New Era Opening Project) and includes a Naruto Exhibition that will open in Japan early next year.

Naruto Shippuuden Movie 7 “The Last” is currently out now in Japanese theatres.

Dog Days 3 Commercial 2 Introduces New Characters Leo and Nanami

The official website of the anime adaptation of Masaki Tsuzuki’s manga Dog Days 3 began streaming its second commercial on Friday. The video introduces the two new characters, Leo and Nanami. The series is set to air this January on Tokyo MX, during the winter 2014 / 2015 anime season.

The commercial proclaims to Princess Millhiore that the three heroes have returned. The text adds, “The three heroes are coming back to Flonyard for the third time. This time the stage is autumn. The new-generation hero entertainment returns for a repeat performance!”

Nana Mizuki is performing the opening theme song titled No Limit. Yui Horie returns again to perform the ending theme, the ending theme song name has yet to be announced.

Dog Days is an original anime series created and written by Masaki Tsuzuki, known for creating the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha manga. The series first began in 2011 for a total of 13 episodes. The anime was produced by Seven Arcs and directed by Keizo Kusakawa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s, Campione!). A second season of the anime, titled Dog Days’, was produced in the following year by the same producers, though it was directed by Junji Nishimura instead. The series also inspired a light novel and manga adaptation in 2011.

One year after the SAO incident, Kirito is approached by Seijiro Kikuoka from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Department “VR Division” with a rather peculiar request.

That was an investigation on the “Death Gun” incident that occurred in the gun and steel filled VRMMO called Gun Gale Online (GGO). “Players who are shot by a mysterious avatar with a jet black gun lose their lives even in the real world…” Failing to turn down Kikuoka’s bizarre request, Kirito logs in to GGO even though he is not completely convinced that the virtual world could physically affect the real world.

Kirito wanders in an unfamiliar world in order to gain any clues about the “Death Gun.” Then, a female sniper named Sinon who owns a gigantic “Hecate II” rifle extends Kirito a helping hand. With Sinon’s help, Kirito decides to enter the “Bullet of Bullets,” a large tournament to choose the most powerful gunner within the realm of GGO, in hopes to become the target of the “Death Gun” and make direct contact with the mysterious avatar.

Sidonia No Kishi Movie Promotional Video and Visual Revealed

The official website for the anime adaptation of Tsutomu Nihei’s Sidonia no Kishi (Knights of Sidonia) manga series has revealed the promotional video for the compilation film of the first anime series, which will be releasing in Japan on March 6th.

The announced film will be a recap compilation of the 12 episodes from the anime’s first season. It will also include new scenes and updated remastered 5.1 surround sound audio for its theatrical release. The compilation film will be releasing in Japanese cinemas in March 2015.

In addition to this, Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine revealed last month that the second season of the anime will be titled Sidonia no Kishi: Daikyuu Wakusei Seneki (Knights of Sidonia: War of the Ninth Planet) and will be airing in Japan from April 2015.

Sidonia no Kishi (Knights of Sidonia) is a manga series written and illustrated by Tsutomu Nihei. The series debuted in April 2009 in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine and to date there has been a total of 13 compiled volumes released. An anime adaptation of the series was produced in April this year for a total of 12 episodes. The anime is produced by Polygon Pictures, in their first full TV anime production. Third Aldnoah.Zero 2nd Season Visual Officially Released

The full high quality version of the third visual for Aldnoah.Zero 2nd Season has been released on the official website. The series is scheduled to air from January 2015 during the Winter 2014/2015 anime season.

Aldnoah.Zero is a brand new original series created by Gen Urobuchi, the writer of the Fate/Zero light novels and anime, and Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica. The anime is directed by Ei Aoki who directed the Fate/Zero anime – teaming up with Urobuchi once again. The series is written by the “Olympus Knights”, a group of writers from Nitro+ (known for their science adventure visual novels) that is helmed by Urobuchi. Katsuhiko Takayama (Mirai Nikki) is the series composer, managing the flow and story of the series.

The character concepts are done by Masako Matsumoto (Naruto Shippuden) and the final character designs from Takako Shimura (Aoi Hana). The series features mechs designed by I-IV and Kenji Teraoka (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), and the music is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan). The series is produced by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail) and studio TROYCA (new studio opened by Aoki). The first series had a total of 12 episodes and was earlier confirmed to be a split cour.

Aldnoah.Zero synopsis from Haruhichan:

In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission found a hypergate to Mars on the surface of the moon. Upon landing, astronauts discovered a enchanted utility later referred to as ‘Aldnoah’, giving the astronauts a status of superiority. Soon, many humans have relocated to Mars, and have adapted to the name ‘Martians’. After Princess Asseylum, a royal Martian princess, descends onto Earth in an attempt to create a treaty between both planets, a war breaks out between Earth and Mars, and Martian soldiers begin to descend from the sky, riding steel giants, intent on exterminating humanity.

First Kantai Collection Anime Commercial Streamed

The official Youtube channel for Kadokawa anime has streamed the first anime commercial for the upcoming anime adaptation of the popular Japanese mobile social card game Kantai Collection, which follows World War II warships reimagined as moe girls. The main cast of Kantai Collection: Kan Colle was earlier revealed and features Sumire Uesaka (Sanae Dekomori in Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!) as Kuchikukan Fubuki, Saki Fujita (Ao Nanami from Yozakura Quartet) as Kuubo Akagi, and Yuka Iguchi (Mako Reizei in Girls und Panzer) as Kuubo Kaga. There series will be directed by Keizo Kusakawa (Akuma no Riddle, Dog Days) and produced by Diomedea (Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Akuma no Riddle).

The Kantai Collection: Kan Colle anime will be airing from January 7 next year during the Winter 2014/2015 anime season.

Kantai Collection: Kan Colle is an anime adaptation of the popular online, card browser game Kantai Collection. The game launched in April last year and currently has more than 1.7 million players. The game centers around naval card battles, where naval ships are represented by “Fleet Girls”. The battles are automated for the most part, where the main meat of the game being the strategy, card collecting and grinding. The game is very popular, with a slew of merchandising being released after the game’s release; from table top games to manga, and light novels to this anime adaptation. A PlayStation Vita title is currently in production.

Gainax’s Aoki Uru Anime Film Slated for 2018 + Spring 2015 Short Film

Anime studio Gainax (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Medaka Box) has recently revealed some new information at the 2014 Anime Festival Asia in Singapore about the long awaited sequel to the 1987 anime film Ouritsu Uchuugun: Honneamise no Tsubasa (Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamis). The new film, titled Uru in Blue (Aoki Uru), will be releasing in 2018, with an anime short titled Overture acting as a preview to the film releasing next Spring.

The Overture short film will release in Spring, 2015, and will be a lead up to the full film, slated for 2018. The film will feature the return of Hiroyuki Yamaga, who directed the 1987 film and also the Mahoromatic anime series, to direct and write the upcoming film. The film will also see Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Wolf Children), returning to design the anime’s characters. The project will be produced by the Uru in Blue LLP with a budget of $40 million USD.

In regards to the news, director Yamaga stated:

Uru in Blue is a special film for Gainax as well. Both on its technical and producing side, we will use new techniques in the world, not with the existing methods. We want to produce the film with great creators from all over the world.

The film project itself was planned for production many times, with its first planned release in 1993 with Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunbuster OVA) and Yamaga directing the movie. The film was cancelled due to a lack of budget and financial issues with the studio. The film was back in pre-production in 1998 and in 2001 before ultimately being scrapped on both occasions. The film was finally announced to be in production again last year at the 2013 Tokyo International Anime Fair.

Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamis (Ouritsu Uchuugun: Honneamise no Tsubasa) is an original anime science fiction film produced by Gianax in 1987. The film itself was the studio’s first feature film and received critical acclaim worldwide. Despite this the film failed to break even at the Japanese box office. It was directed by Hiroyuki Yamaga and stars Leo Morimoto (Narrator in Bartender) as Shitotsugh Lhadatt and Mitsuki Yayoi (Kaede Fujimiya in Blue Seed) as Riquinni Nonderaiko.

Uru in Blue will be releasing in cinemas worldwide in 2018. A short film titled Overture will release in Spring 2015, and will give a preview of the upcoming long awaited film. More information will be released at the Anime Festival Asia in Singapore.

The latest episodes of Naruto Shippuuden featured a double episode special that features the prologue to the upcoming release of Naruto Shippuuden Movie 7 “The Last”, which contained a very special Opening sequence. The OP of the episodes showcases some new scenes of the upcoming film with the 16th OP song of the anime series, Silhouette by KANA-BOON. Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto will have a large role in the film’s production, overseeing the plot and new original character designs for the movie, who also designed a brand new mysterious character. Fate/Apocrypha Artbook Is Free to Help Promote TYPE-MOON’s Comiket 87 Releases

With comiket 87 on the way, TYPE-MOON have released a PDF of the Fate/Apocrypha artbook from comiket 86 in order to help promote their planned releases.

The upcoming releases include novels Lord El-Melloi II Case Files by Mita Makoto and Sakamoto Mineji, Fire Girl 3 AL written by former Liar Soft screenwriter Meteo Hoshizora, and illustrated by BunBun, and Fate/Apocrypha volume 5 by Yuuichirou Higashide with illustrations by Ototsugu Kono as well as manga Fate/Strange Fake by Shizuki Morii, based on the 2008 elaborate April Fool’s joke which was a single bonus novel included with TYPE-MOON Ace from TYPE-MOON and author Ryohgo Narita (Baccano, Durarara!!).

A Lord El-Melloi II Case Files website was also launched and has a visual of the series.

TV vs Blu-Ray – Fate/stay night (2014) Preview

The official blog for the digital division of ufotable have revealed a few changes that they will be making for the Blu-ray release of Fate/stay night (2014), one of this season’s most stand out and anticipated anime series. One of the show’s greatest strengths is its visual fidelity and animation quality, but whilst that is the case of the most part there has been some drawbacks on the anime’s broadcast.. The changes that the digital studio have revealed were fixes to issues caused by channel regulations.

The changes will be of the brightness and colours of the anime. The TV broadcast for all shows utilises a special device called the Paka-Checker, which is used to check and normalise the saturation and brightness of the show’s visual before it airs. The device will then alter the visuals to fit the guidelines that the TV station has utilised.

ufotable gives the example of one of the scenes for the Opening of Fate/stay night (2014). Below is the broadcast version:

And below is the original and master version of the scene, which will be used in the Blu-ray version:

The difference is considerable. The broadcast version is darker and the colours are very muted and darkened. The original master version is full of colour and you can see everything clearly. Two more examples are given for the 8th episode of Fate/stay night (2014), which aired last week. The 1st image is the broadcast version and the second version is the original/Blu-ray version.

Once again the difference is clear and without a doubt the Blu-ray version will be the must have, showcasing the full range of colours and beauty of the scenes. It is very unfortunate that the broadcast version looks inferior since the production staff and studio have spent a long time working on the scenes, only to have viewers and fans see a poorer product. It is also fortunate that ufotable has come out to communication the changes and the reason why it was changed, showing that they care about their fans and their works.

Fate/stay night is a visual novel released by Type-Moon for the PC in 2004, and is the first in their Fate series. The visual novel was very successful and claimed the title of highest selling visual novel in that year. 2006 saw two adaptations of the game, a manga by Datto Nishiwaki and an anime series by Studio Deen. Additionally in that year, a light novel series titled Fate/Zero was written by Gen Urobuchi. It is a prequel to the visual novels, set 10 years prior. An anime and manga adaptation of Fate/Zero were created, with the manga written by Urobuchi himself in 2011 and the anime being animated by ufotable. A second season of Fate/Zero was also produced.

Fate/stay night synopsis from Haruhichan:

Raised by a mysterious sorcerer after the horrific death of his parents, Shiro Emiya has only just begun to help others using the small tidbits of magic that he’s learned. However, when he’s suddenly caught in a battle between two more powerful Magus, Shiro finds himself performing a spell above his expected ability, summoning the beautiful spirit warrior Saber to protect him! But safety is only momentary as Shiro and Saber now find themselves thrust into in a secret world of dark magic and deadly challenges: a no-holds barred duel to the death known as the Holy Grail War! At stake: a prize of unimaginable power. But can the inexperienced Shiro and Saber survive long enough to even enter the contest? First they’ll have to withstand waves of treachery and assassination, even as Shiro scrambles to learn everything he’ll need to know to stay alive as seven teams of Magus and Spirit Servants face off in mortal combat!

The first Blu-ray release of Fate/stay night (2014) is the Blu-ray Disc Box 1, which will be out in Japan on March 25, 2015 for a total of ¥39,000 (~ $390.00 USD) without tax. The box set will contain the first 12 episodes of the anime, which is currently airing this season, among other goodies.

Dragon Ball Discross Anime Promotional Video Streamed

A promotional video has been released for Dragon Ball Discross, a new Gashapon arcade game based on Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga. The game itself involves players collecting various discs containing characters from the anime series that can be purchased from capsule machines. These discs are selling for ¥100 (~ $1.00 USD) and allow players to play the arcade game, which will act as currency for the typical gashapon figures. You can also use them like a regular disc and fire them.

Dragon Ball Discross will be available across Japan from December 24, but you can purchase them early from the 2014 Jump Festa event on December 20.

Shochiku, the distributor of the upcoming film Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199: Hoshimeguru Hakobune has streamed the first 9-minutes of the film on their official YouTube Channel. The film features the three-way battle among Yamato, Gamilas, and a new enemy for the film, Gatlantis. It is scheduled to hit Japanese theaters this Saturday on December 6.

Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199: Hoshimeguru Hakobune synopsis from Haruhichan:

2199 AD. Yamato tried to leave behind the Large Magellanic Cloud galaxy, after receiving a “Cosmo Reverse System” at its destination, Iscandar. However, suddenly, it encounters a mysterious group at the edge of the Large Magellanic Cloud. The crew finds out that the group is called the “Gatlantis,” and that its leader is the Gutaba expeditionary force commander who calls himself “Goran Dagaamu of Thunder.” The commander demands that Yamato be handed over to him. Yamato, wanting to hurry to Earth, escapes the fray. However, Yamato is attacked by a devastating beam weapon called the “Flame Direct Attack Cannon” that can transcend space.

Yamato was able to retreat, but ends up getting lost, and finds itself in a strangely colored irregular dimension. The crew decides to turn off the engine on the ship, and explore a mysterious planet. In order to collect information, Kodai, Kiryū, Sawamura, Niimi, and Aihara land on the planet. What they saw when they arrived was a ship that was not supposed to be there.

Dagaamu chases after the traces of Yamato’s warp, and also reaches the strangely colored space. The planet on which Yamato landed was in fact what Dagaamu had been looking for all along.

Monster Hunter Mezeporuta Kaitaku-ki Anime Promotional Video Streamed

Capcom has released a promotional video for their upcoming browser game Monster Hunter Mezeporuta Kaitaku-ki, which represents many of the series’ iconic locations, armour, weapons and characters into your typical anime tropes: with cute girls with big breasts. The video itself also features Ayana Taketatsu’s image song Fai, who collaborated with Capcom with this game.

Monster Hunter Mezeporuta Kaitaku-ki is set in the world of Monster Hunter Frontier, the released MMORPG game of the series. The game itself is a MMO Simulation, Exploration, RPG where players take control of a guild and its members, travelling to different location, finding monsters to hunt and completing quests. The game is played in an over the top view, similar to tactical RPGs, during the exploration of a location, and in battle it is a familiar JRPG system, selecting your abilities to maximise your damage. You can have a party of 4 guild members, but are able to swap them out from your reserve team during battle.

When you do defeat a monster you get your typical Monster Hunter rewards where you can then craft and create better and more useful equipment, armour and weapons.

Monster Hunter is one of Japan’s most popular franchises. The series started in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, and has since been on the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii U and the PC. To date, the entire franchise has sold over 28 million copies, with the latest main instalment being Monster Hunter 4 for the Nintendo 3DS selling over 4.1 Million copies in Japan. Capcom has recently announced that the game will be releasing outside of Japan as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in 2015, which will include additional content. A MMO, titled Monster Hunter Online was announced last year for China only. The beta opened in July last year and little information was released since.

Monster Hunter Mezeporuta Kaitaku-ki is currently available to DMM Online Games members on its own website. The game will then release on the Capcom Online Games platform in Summer 2015.

Aldnoah.Zero 2nd Season Subtitled TV Commercial Streamed

Aniplex have released the first TV commercial of Aldnoah.Zero 2nd Season on Monday with subtitles. The series is scheduled to air from January 2015 during the Winter 2014/2015 anime season. The commercial features spoilers for the first season and also gives us a sneak peak at the ending theme song GENESIS by Eir Aor.

SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:mizuki will perform the opening theme song &Z for the second season.

Aldnoah.Zero is a brand new original series created by Gen Urobuchi, the writer of the Fate/Zero light novels and anime, and Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica. The anime is directed by Ei Aoki who directed the Fate/Zero anime – teaming up with Urobuchi once again. The series is written by the “Olympus Knights”, a group of writers from Nitro+ (known for their science adventure visual novels) that is helmed by Urobuchi. Katsuhiko Takayama (Mirai Nikki) is the series composer, managing the flow and story of the series.

The character concepts are done by Masako Matsumoto (Naruto Shippuden) and the final character designs from Takako Shimura (Aoi Hana). The series features mechs designed by I-IV and Kenji Teraoka (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), and the music is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan). The series is produced by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail) and studio TROYCA (new studio opened by Aoki). The first series had a total of 12 episodes and was earlier confirmed to be a split cour.

Aldnoah.Zero synopsis from Haruhichan:

In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission found a hypergate to Mars on the surface of the moon. Upon landing, astronauts discovered a enchanted utility later referred to as ‘Aldnoah’, giving the astronauts a status of superiority. Soon, many humans have relocated to Mars, and have adapted to the name ‘Martians’. After Princess Asseylum, a royal Martian princess, descends onto Earth in an attempt to create a treaty between both planets, a war breaks out between Earth and Mars, and Martian soldiers begin to descend from the sky, riding steel giants, intent on exterminating humanity.

Aldnoah.Zero 2nd Season will return January during the Winter 2014/2015 anime season. Further information about the second cour of the anime will be revealed soon.
