Brief introduction of the new owner of www.sailormoon.biz

Hello users of www.sailormoon.biz – I am Swaps4, the new owner. You may have noticed the message at the top of the site from Maraviollantes stating that due to lack of time and decreasing interest he could no longer maintain the site, so I’ve decided to take over the project.

You may ask, what are your current plans for the site? Right now I am going to leave the site as it is. I do plan to improve on it, but I want to get to know its users before hand and take suggestions. Here are my current future plans for the site:

  • Forums (Would be nice to have a dedicated place we can all socialize at)
  • Find new admins to help maintain the site (Need dedicated Moonies!)
  • Improve on how the site works and its features (Need suggestions!)

I’m looking forward to getting to know you all! Please feel free to leave a comment with feedback or suggestions below.

An In Depth Look at the Finale of Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (Major Spoilers)

First of all, let me preface this piece by noting that this series has been tremendous. As an addition to the Lupin III franchise, it is certainly welcome. However, it is equally, if not more laudable as a standalone. Truly Sayo Yamamoto, the first female director of a Lupin III series, has taken the characters all anime fans have adored for close to 50 years now and fleshed them out to their full potential. While this series was darker, sexier, and more plot driven than the earlier Lupin III series, it did not come across as particularly  pretentious or obtuse. Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine was a rewarding experience, and one I would greatly suggest.

Community globalisation of anime

In the western world the sheer amount of fan created material for anime is staggering, and it affects our perception of shows, characters and other aspects of anime as much as the original work. It is similar to the Japanese doujin culture, but for a different purpose. Now, when I say ‘doujin’ this isn’t referring to—as many people think—just fanmade comics or hentai/porn, it extends to fanart, music, mashups, AMVs, games created and even fansubs themselves. Yes, other fandoms and cultures have small elements of these, but the thing I appreciate the most about anime is seeing the many diverse ways we—as westerners—incorporate own culture into anime that forms a global understanding of such a regionalised medium.

Let’s Discuss Kizumonogatari!

I’m excited for Kizumonogatari. Like really excited for Kizumonogatari. I want to watch Kizumonogatari more than I want to watch Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo or the Puella Magi Madoka Magica movies. This is a movie that I really want to see.

I’m hoping there’s even more PLOT the Nisemonogatari.

The Musings of an Idort

Whats up? I’m a new blogger here at haruhichan, you can call me the cat. I’ll probably just be writing about anything I feel about, so I thought I’d start with a quick introduction of myself and my general philosophy.

Rinne no Lagrange OVA, Season 2 PV & Ep 1 Screenies

Yep I know some of you might have already seen these PVs but I just want to share it…

AHHHHH!! Bouncing oppai in the game wwwwww XD

Holy crap I just can’t contain my excitement!! I want to watch this OVA to satiate my hunger for more Lagrange until season 2 comes on July. Base on the PV of the OVA, I’m confused if it’ll fill the time between the first season and the second or will the story be the continuation of the second season since on the first part you will see that Madoka is graduating while the later parts  we see Madoka piloting Vox Aura since if I remember correctly Vox Aura isn’t working anymore at the end of season 1. So maybe it’ll be the continuation of season 2 but it just doesn’t make sense…releasing a continuation of season 2 before it airs. Oh well what ever as long as I could watch it I’m already satisfied :). As for the game, errrrrr I commend the bouncing oppai wwwwwwww. On a serious note it looks like it’ll be a fighting game similar to the Nanoha fighting games or Tekken(?).

Moe: expectations and misconceptions of the anime industry

Cute girls doing cute things makes for an entertaining 22 minutes of anime for me personally, but a moe-centric show, or even a show with minor moe elements is often derided as “moeshit” by a lot of anime viewers. I can understand where they’re coming from; moe doesn’t have much going for it often, outside of cute characters and crazy antics, with a side of comedy. I mean, K-On! is pretty much Girls Eating Cake: The Anime and Acchi Kocchi has even less plot and character development but with more adorableness. So, how can there be so many shows about nothing being produced by anime studios? Is moe really killing anime? Well, no. Because moe is the industry. Well, actually, that’s a lie, but the underlying concept of moe is so closely tied to otaku culture that I believe the issue is more about how westerners approach anime as a medium than there being something broken about anime itself.

Camping in the Japanese Countryside

Camp was a Country/Rock band in ’91, led by the CHEEKO, they played a surprisingly pure Country/Rock rivaling that made on our side of the Pacific.

Ano Natsu Matteru – Review

Title: Ano Natsu de Matteru (Waiting In The Summer)
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama, Sci-FI
Rating: 8.8/10

When a group of friends decide to make a movie over a long summer holiday, they end up learning a little about filmmaking and a lot more about each other and themselves. What begins as a simple way to avoid the summer doldrums quickly turns into something much more complex, intimate and revealing, as the maturing relationships between the members of the young cast take on new, and sometimes very unexpected, turns.

How do you feel when an anime ends?

When I watch Anime, I experience all sorts of emotions. These emotions usually vary on how well the story is told and how deep I get into it. There are times when I’m completely  enthralled with a show. I’m unable to turn away and my blood boils hot from thinking on how the next episode is going to play out. Then there are times when the anime can completely kill my mood. The story goes into a direction I do not like or it completely traps itself into an inescapable rut of clichés and forced drama. Eventually it all comes down to the ending. Japan is notorious (in my opinion) for creating bad endings to what many people would agree to be a good series.
