Japanese magazine scans have revealed the fifth party member in the newly anticipated Persona 5 as Yusuke Kitagawa. His persona is named Goemon.
Yusuke Kitagawa is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita (Hideki from Chobits, Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) and is an honor student who is taking an art course at the Kosei Public High School. He’s a live-in disciple of a famous Japanese painter, known as Madarame.
Also announced were more details on the Persona 5 story.
The main characters will cause trouble in the big city, known as “Phantom Thieves of Hearts.” It is said that those who receive letters from the Phantom thieves will confess their crimes and reform themselves. The protagonist and his group target “corrupt adults” and steal their “corrupt hearts” in order to change the world for the better.
The persona names of the main characters were also listed.
An upcoming event in hobby shops across Japan starts on September 26th, and it features the girls from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. The key art for the event takes this one step further and is centered around each of the 5 main girls, Madoka, Homura, Mami, Sayaka, and Kyoko, all dressed up as certain witches from the show. The event appears to be a lottery type event with all of the classic character goods: towels, glasses, cushions, key chains, posters, etc, centered around the theme of the 5 girls and their witch attire. You can check out pictures of the goods on the event’s official website or from Banpresto’s product page.
Also included with the event is a new line of prize figures due to be released sometime in 2016 based on the illustrations of each girl. From the manufacturer Banpresto, little else is known about the figures, but recent pictures were revealed that give a clearer picture of what to expect from the series.
Expect more news about the various goods once the event starts, although if you want the character goods you may have to go onto aftermarket sites to acquire them if you cannot make it to a hobby shop in Japan as information about how to obtain the items outside of the lottery event has not been given at this time. Hopefully the prize figures will be more widespread and easier to get ahold of online as most prize figures are.

In August of 20XX, a portal to a parallel world, known as the “Gate,” suddenly appeared in Ginza, Tokyo. Monsters and troops poured out of the portal, turning the shopping district into a bloody inferno.
The Japan Ground-Self Defence Force immediately took action and pushed the fantasy creatures back to the “Gate.” To facilitate negotiations and prepare for future fights, the JGSDF dispatched the Third Reconnaissance Team to the “Special Region” at the other side of the Gate.
Youji Itami, a JSDF officer as well as a 33-year-old otaku, was appointed as the leader of the Team. Amid attacks from enemy troops the team visited a variety of places and learnt a lot about the local culture and geography.
Thanks to their efforts in humanitarian relief, although with some difficulties they were gradually able to reach out to the locals. They even had a cute elf, a sorceress and a demigoddess in their circle of new friends. On the other hand, the major powers outside the Gate such as the United States,China and Russia were extremely interested in the abundant resources available in the Special Region. They began to exert diplomatic pressure over Japan.
A suddenly appearing portal to an unknown world—to the major powers it may be no more than a mere asset for toppling the international order. But to our protagonists it is an invaluable opportunity to broaden knowledge, friendship, and ultimately their perspective towards the world.
