Benji Webbe Disrespects BABYMETAL at the Kerrang! Awards

Japanese metal idol band, BABYMETAL, are in the middle of a world tour, and while in London the band attended the Kerrang! Awards, sponsored by the UK’s Karrang! music magazine. This wasn’t their first time attending, either. In 2015, BABYMETAL took home the organization’s Spirit of Independence Award, and this time they followed up on that success by winning Kerrang’s title of Best Live Band of 2016.

The upset occurred as 18-year-old Suzuka Nakamoto began her acceptance speech for winning the “Best Live Band of 2016” award, with 49-year-old award presenter Benji Webbe – singer for Welsh band Skindred – deciding it was OK to constantly interrupt her:

Soon after the event, Benji Webbe took to Twitter to deliver a “sincere” apology:

Of course, many BABYMETAL fans have been finding it difficult to accept and have voiced their thoughts:

US Senator Candidate Sends Supporters to Hentai Site 6

Republican Nevada Senate candidate, Sharron Angle, shared a campaign flyer that sent her supporters to a very naughty website.

The candidate criticized her opponents in the mailer, including Republican Rep. Joe Heck, and encouraged people to “look at candidate websites and see what they say about themselves.” The unfortunate mistake that occurred has left everyone in shock and laughter. joeheck.com (NSFW) was linked, and it’s definitely a hentai site. It makes you wonder how many innocent supporters lost their hentai virginity at that moment. Never too late to bring someone to the dark side, I suppose.

Joe Heck’s actual website is drjoeheck.com. An honest mistake, right?

Love Live! School Idol Project is an original anime produced by Sunrise studios that aired in January 2013. The conception of the anime project started in 2010 by Dengeki G’s Magazine. The editors wanted the project to be heavily influenced by fans, such as the costumes, hairstyles and names. Throughout this process, a manga of the project simply called Love Live! began in early 2012 by Sakurako Kimino and Arumi Tokita. The next part in the project was the anime series, followed by this app and an OVA. The second season of Love Live! School Idol Project aired last year and an anime film will be released this Summer.

Here is a synopsis of the series from Haruhichan:

Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara—a pop culture mecca that’s evolving by the minute; Kanda—a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo—a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students.

With the school planning to close within three years, nine female students come together with one thing in mind—form a pop idol group to revive the school’s popularity and keep it from shutting down. “In order to protect our beloved school, there’s only one thing we can do… become pop stars!”

Megami MAGAZINE March 2015 anime posters Haruhichan.com shirobako poster

Shirobako is an anime television series produced by Warner Entertainment Japan and studio P.A.Works, which handled the animation. The series was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and aired in Japan between October 9, 2014 and March 26, 2015. A manga adaptation began serialization in ASCII Media Works’s Dengeki Daioh magazine in September 2014, and a novel was published by Shueisha in January 2015.

The title Shirobako refers to videos that are distributed to the production staff members prior to its release. These videos were at a time distributed as VHS tapes enclosed in white boxes and are still referred to as “white boxes” (thus the meaning of shirobako) despite the fact that the white enclosures are no longer in use.

Shirobako sysnopsis from Haruhichan:

Aoi will never forget how she felt the day her high school animation club’s labor of love was shown at the cultural festival. The sense of awe and the feeling of accomplishment that came with completing their very first project are exactly what encouraged Aoi and her club mates to enter the animation industry in the first place. But two years later Aoi has graduated, and now that she works as a production assistant for a big-name animation studio, the daunting reality of her job has somewhat diminished her enthusiasm. Despite the long hours and the punishing schedule, Aoi still hopes to fulfill the promise she and her club friends Ema, Shizuka, Misa, and Midori made: to one day reunite and make a real animated feature of their own as professionals!

New Game! is a 4koma manga written and illustrated by Shoutarou Tokunou. The series began in 2013 in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine, where a total of 3 volumes have been published. The series itself features cute girls working in a video game company, in a similar fashion to Shirobako‘s depiction of working at an anime company. The adaptation was announced in the November issue of Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine.

Here is the synopsis of the series from MAL:

Follow Aoba Suzukaze, a fresh highschool graduate that is easily mistaken as a middle school student, as she joins the game company that produced her favorite game as a 3D artist and her cute antics in this story told through 4-koma.
