Angel Beats! Game Releases on Android & IOS

Earlier this week Key has released their first Angel Beats! mobile game, Angel Beats!-Operation Wars-. The game is currently free for Android and IOS devices.

Angel Beats! -Operation Wars- is a mobile action puzzle game where players take control the SSS to take down the shadows, as well as going to school. Players need to collect cards based on the characters from the anime from P.A. Works and the upcoming visual novel. The puzzles are similar to other tile matching games, such as Bejeweled and Candy Crush Saga where players need to match different coloured tiles to win the stage.

Players can also get items to equip in addition to the cards, to receive boosts and abilities. Solving more and more puzzles will give you exp where you can level up and be rewarded with better cards and items. There will also be mini-games, one of which is called Live Screen and involves chibi versions of the characters dancing to songs from the anime.

Angel Beats!-Operation Wars– is developed by Key, who are also creating the visual novel based on the Angel Beats! light novel and anime by Jun Maeda. Here are some additional screenshots of the game:

Angel Beats! is a series created by Jun Maeda. It started off as a light novel series in 2009 that ran for half a year. A 4-koma manga series was also created by Maeda that ran in the same year. In 2010, an anime adaptation was created by P.A. Works, which was also written by Maeda himself. The series received high praise and gained popularity, but was criticised for the lack of character development for many stories. A manga was adapted in 2010 titled Angel Beats! Heaven’s Door, which is an adaptation of the prequel light novel Angel Beats! Track Zero. Jun Maeda and Key, who are known for producing acclaimed and popular visual novels, announced that they were producing a visual novel on Angel Beats!, expanding many of the character’s backstory. Angel Beats! -1st Beat-, and its subsequent releases, will be written by Jun Maeda.

Here is a synopsis of the series from Haruhichan:

Otonashi awakens only to learn he is dead. A rifle-toting girl named Yuri explains that they are in the afterlife, and Otonashi realizes the only thing he can remember about himself is his name. Yuri tells him that she leads the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront) and wages war against a girl named Tenshi. Unable to believe Yuri’s claims that Tenshi is evil, Otonashi attempts to speak with her, but the encounter doesn’t go as he intended.

Otonashi decides to join the SSS and battle Tenshi, but he finds himself oddly drawn to her. While trying to regain his memories and understand Tenshi, he gradually unravels the mysteries of the afterlife.

Angel Beats!-Operation Wars- is currently available on Android and IOS devices. The game requires a minimum requirement of IOS 5.0 and Android 2.3.3.

Rail Wars! is a new anime which is airing during the summer 2014 anime season and is based on Takumi Toyoda and Vania600′s novel: Rail Wars! Nihon Kokuyuu Tetsudou Kouantai.

Trigger’s Ninja Slayer Anime to Be Directed by Inferno Cop’s Amemiya

Studio Trigger have revealed at their panel at Anime Expo on Thursday that Inferno Cop Director Akira Amemiya will direct the studio’s upcoming anime series Ninja Slayer. Amemiya also served as an episode director for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Kill la Kill, and Black Rock Shooter. He also directed the Gurren Lagann Parallel Works video anime.

Studio Trigger will start production on the anime in 2015, and Boom Boom Satellites (Xam’d: Lost Memories, Mobile Suit Gundam UC) will perform the main opening theme song “Back in Black.” Studio Trigger will reveal the first teaser trailer on the anime’s official website on July 6 at 11:00 a.m. EST.

Trigger also unveiled two new poster images for the anime on Thursday, both drawn by Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai).

Ninja Slayer is a series of novels which follow Kenji Fujikido who vows to hunt down and kill ninjas after his family is slain during a ninja battle. The stories are set in the futuristic city of Neo Saitama.

The story is written by Americans Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morzez, and subsequently translated by a Japanese team. However, many readers believe that this back story is a ruse designed by the true creators. Upon gaining popularity online, the series was published by Enterbrain and subsequently adapted into three manga series by Enterbrain and Kodansha.

“Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei!” Blu-ray/DVD to Include Short Anime

It has been revealed that Amazon has listed the the five monthly Blu-ray/DVD volumes of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei! which will include a short anime titled First Bra: Illya-hen. The short anime, with a running time of about five minutes each episode, will be about Illya and Chloe’s first bras. The short was supervised by Hiroshi Hiroyama, the creator of the original manga.

The release for the Blu-ray/DVD volumes will be between September 26, 2014 and January 30, 2015. The first volume will not only include the new short “First Bra: Illya-hen“, it will also bundle Prisma-illya/visual material (a book of sketches for the color illustrations in the original manga), Digipak packaging and clear case with an exclusive illustration by character designer Nozomi Ushijima, audio commentaries by the cast, and the clean opening anime sequence. Online retailer Amazon is offering its own limited edition of the first volume with a 300-yen (US$3) gift coupon that has a character illustration.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Remix Announced for Western Release

Earlier today, Sega announced that they would continue with the Hatsune Miku series of games in the West with the announcement of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Remix on Nintendo 3DS. This game marks the first time a Hatsune Miku game has been launched on a Nintendo console in the West and it marks the first time a Mirai game has been launched outside of Japan. The game is an improved version of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2. The game features a couple of different ways to play, fully customizeable music video creation, interaction with the singers, as well as profile cards that can be distributed with StreetPass. Sega is impressed with the sales of the series and they have stated that they are “proud to support such an amazing franchise.” The game will release next year.

Bakumatsu Rock is a brand new anime series which is adapted from the manga Bakumatsu Rock: Howling Soul and is currently airing during the Summer 2014 anime season. The first episode aired today (July 2) and will air until September 17, 2014.

“Majimoji Rurumo” Episode 1 Preview

As we are nearing the show’s airing debut, J.C.Staff have released preview images for Majimoji Rurumo which is due to air on the 9th of July during the Summer 2014 anime season.

Rurumo Maji Mojiruka is the protagonist of the series who is a witch that made a contract with Shiba (another protagonist of the series). For benefits of contractor, can use magic to grant his wishes. From outside, normal middle school girl. Expresionless and reticent to extreme, however by nature more shy than others. Once decived by other witch and defying rules, made to spend 60 years in prison.

Shibaki is a high-school boy whose only interest is girls. Except he’s been branded as the most hentai boy at school and the girls avoid him like the plague. One day he finds a book in the library about how to summon witches. He tries it as a joke, but it turns out to be the real thing. An apprentice witch named Rurumo appears to grant him a wish. Shibaki helps Rurumo and she in return refuses to take his soul. (This part of this story happened before the start of chapter1) When the story starts, Shibaki wishes he could see Rurumo again. His wishes is granted immediately as Rurumo falls from the sky and crash lands in front of him. He finds out that as punishment for not taking his soul she’s been busted down to an apprentice demon. Now, she must complete the task of getting Shibaki to use up 666 magic tickets that grant wishes before she can become a witch again. However, what she doesn’t know is that each time he uses a ticket it shortens his life. When the last ticket is used up, Shibaki will die. Shibaki knows this because Rurumo’s familiar black cat Chiro tell him as part of the “contract” for giving him the tickets. Now, Shibaki has a choice, make a wish and help Rurumo become a witch again or resist the temptation and try to save his own life.

Kuroko no Basket 3rd Season Release Date and Visual Revealed

Last May it was announced that Shounen Jump‘s 27th weekly magazine issue would reveal that the production of a third season of the Kuroko’s Basketball television anime has been green-lit.

This year’s 32nd issue of Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing the 2015 release date and a new illustration for the third Kuroko’s Basketball television anime season on Monday. There will be a Kurobas Festival event to celebrate the new season with exhibits, original goods, original drinks and food, and other points of interest.

Kuroko no Basket is based on Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s manga. The first anime season titled “Kuroko no Basket” aired from April 8, 2012 to September 22, 2012. The second season titled “Kuroko no Basket 2” premiered last October 6, 2013 and ran until March 30, 2014. “Kuroko no Basket 3rd Season” is currently in production and is scheduled to air during 2015.

“Tokyo Ghoul” Episode 1 Preview

As we are nearing the show’s airing debut, Tokyo Ghoul has released some tasty preview images for its first episode. The series’ first episode looks as if it is going to start off with a short romance halted by a brutal end.

The protagonist for Tokyo Ghoul (Kaneki Ken) looks like the typical loser-type trying to lead a highschool life talking to his friend, until he meets up with his crush, the glasses wearing beauty, Kamishiro Rize who’s not all she seems to be. The couple are enjoying the night until Rize, using his crush on her as leverage, managed to lure him into an alley and tries to feed on him. All we can tell happens after then is that Ken barely survives and seems to be on a hospital bed, having some of Rize’s body parts transplanted into him to keep him alive. Leaving him with some horrible side effects, thus begins Tokyo Ghoul.

The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious “ghouls” who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight.

Pokémon Destination on iTunes Launches With Animated Episodes for iOS Devices

Some good news for iOS device using Pokémon fans! The Pokémon Company has officially launched the Pokémon iTunes page! Fans who use iTunes can now directly download episodes of the currently airing Pokémon XY series and four part prequel story Pokémon Origins. In addition to this, one can also directly download the Pokémon TV App or the official Pokédex App. As the page has only recently launched, content is thin – however, the Pokémon Company assures fans that it shall be updated regularly with more content for users to download and enjoy! Here’s a look at the page as it is in its current state.

If one is to scroll down, they’d also find the ability to download the apps mentioned above and each episode comes with a little clip one can preview. In addition to this one can also find the full soundtracks to the Pokémon X and Y games for the 3DS family of devices. While it may be pricey to purchase them, fans who wish to support the franchise will definitely now have another avenue to do so.

As for region availability, the Pokémon company states that:

“Episodes of Pokémon the Series: XY are currently available on iTunes in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. In the United States, Canada, and Australia, new episodes of Pokémon the Series: XY will be added to iTunes.com/Pokemon on a weekly basis.”

For die hard fans with iOS willing to spend that extra couple of dollars to support their favorite franchise, this is worth looking forward to. It’s recommended to keep checking in to see what kind of updates we get as this certainly has the potential to become a great source of Pokémon content!
