Now without further ado, let’s examining Xenosaga’s KOS-MOS.

This blue-haired hottie, which happens to be a robot as well, is projected wearing her Dragon Tooth costume. On the front, there are three focal points that will initially caught your attention. First would be her face, which is beautifully framed by her blue fringe and side bangs. She looks both angelic and cute, perfect for fans. Her realistic red eyes gaze on you while you will also notice her blue headgear is slightly tucked in her hair. Third is her removable Tri-barrel Gatling Gun (which is exchangeable with her Saber Sword). Both weapons are crafted beautifully. The gun just as it is in anime is unrealistically larger than her size. It has three silver barrels and gold and blue plating. While the sword is a beautiful long aqua blue weapon with a sleek white handle.

Have a better look, and you would see her tight strapless dress. Silky and flowy, it perfectly shapes her curves and leaves little to the imagination, accessorized with black sleeves with pointy petal-like cuffs. KOS-MOS is also seen wearing thigh-high tights with black and gold hemlines that ends with a very mechanical-looking gold shoes.

On the back, you can have a better view of her flowing blue hair. The headgear, which was predominantly colored blue on the front, is white and clean on the back. It also has a golden chain plate which also doubles as a great hair accessory. And as much as her hair is fantastic and all, you wouldn’t miss her silky-looking skin and sculptured buttocks. Her dress costume, having both side slits, gives more of a sexier illusion for KOS-MOS. And lastly, a gold decoration, that greatly resembles a spinal cord, shells her back.

With her right leg standing forward, her back also gives you a peek to her godly buttocks. Also seen from the side (and back) is her the back side of the shoes which is painted blue.

Crossing on borderline “hentai” there are many series that goes to extreme lengths to show such themes just for the heck of it. But that stuff isn’t fully acceptable on TV. Many series, such as Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga, are censored on TV, with either black bars, empty stills and cutaways. But the physical releases are a different story.

The animators are not confined by TV regulations and can show their full creativity as intended. And boy did this show stir up some controversy – it got a decency investigation from the Japanese Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization. The show was originally airing at 10pm, before being pushed back to 10:30pm on Tokyo MX and to 1:00am on Sun TV. The main complaint, was when a character in the show Hiyori Kotobuki, openly talked about masturbation.

And as such, a comparison between the televised and blu-ray versions of the anime Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga is in order.

Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga (Recently, My Sister is Unusual) is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name, by Matsuzawa Mari. The series is an ecchi, comedy romance between step siblings, one of which is possessed by a spirit. The manga began in 2010 and is published by Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Comics Age imprint. To date there has been 6 volumes of the manga. The series received an anime adaptation in January this year, which was produced by studio Project No.9. The series ran for a full 12 episodes, with an OVA being bundled in the blu-ray release. Also in that month, a light novel series was adapted and was written by Kougetsu Mikazuki. A live action film was announced late last year and is scheduled to release before the end of the year. The film will star Japanese idols Tenka Hashimoto and Mayu. The film will be directed by Yuki Aoyama. The film has been confirmed to contain nudity scenes.

The first blu-ray release of Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga is already on sale. The second volume will be out on April 25th, the third on May 28th, the fourth on June 25th, the fifth on July 30th and the sixth volume on August 27. The blu-ray copies will contain a “bubbling” cover (seen above).

Gekkan Shōjo Nozaki-kun Gets TV Anime in July

The State of the 2013 Anime Industry

The Association of Japanese Animations has released their annual figures for 2013, at the 2014 AnimeJapan event. The figures covers the gross totals that anime has gained that year in Japan. They also cover international sales as well as distinguishing how much profit is made, and which merchandises reaps the most money.

So here are the statistics for annual gross of the 2013 anime industry:

The top left figure shows the total amount of minutes of anime produced that year. The figure only includes TV anime, not OVAs or films.
The bottom left represents the total box office gross profit of anime films. The totals are in billions of yens, though the numbers are not represented correctly. For 2013, though it shows 470 億円 it is in reality 47 billion yen, which equates to approx. 470 million USD.
The right figure shows the 12 highest grossing anime movies throughout 2013. The totals are also in billions of yen; to loosely convert it to USD, just divide by 100. The list in English are as follows:

2014 Fate/stay night PV Leaked

Heaps of new images have surfaced online for the latest Fate/stay night promotional video. The upcoming promotional video, the second one, has yet to be released online. So enjoy the large selection of images from the PV, where you can almost put together the video itself.

Studio ufotable were also present during AnimeJapan 2014 and showed off their new designs for the main characters of the series.

Also during AnimeJapan 2014, the official Twitter account for ufotable has announced that a port of the visual novel Fate/hollow ataraxia will be making its way to the PlayStation Vita this year. The VN is a sequel to Fate/Zero, and will contain updated visuals and full voice acting. You can visit the game’s official website here: http://www.typemoon.com/products/hollowvita/index

Fate/stay night was initially released by Type-Moon as a visual novel for PC in 2004, and is the first in their Fate series. The visual novel was very successful and claimed the title of highest selling visual novel in that year. 2006 saw two adaptations of the game, a manga by Datto Nishiwaki and an anime series by Studio Deen. Additionally in that year, a light novel series titled Fate/Zero was written by Gen Urobuchi. It is a prequel to the visual novels, set 10 years prior. An anime and manga adaptation of Fate/Zero were created, with the manga written by Urobuchi himself in 2011 and the anime being animated by ufotable. A second season of Fate/Zero was also produced.

The new promotional video for the anime has not been released yet. The remake will air this Fall/Autumn and will be animated by studio ufotable. Expect the full video to be released in the next few days.

Ikkitousen 2014 Anime Announced

A new anime is coming this year for the anime Ikkitousen. The announcement was made via the series’ official website, and comes with the release of the promotional video for the upcoming Blu-ray box sets.

Regarding the Blu-ray box sets, three box sets have been announced. Each for their respective season: Dragon Destiny, Great Guardian and Xtreme Xecutor. They will be available on July 30, September 24th and November 26th respectively. Each box set will cost ¥22,000 (~$220USD). They will contain all the episodes of the season, as well as the Opening and Ending music videos.

Ikkitousen (Battle Vixens) is a manga series created by Yuji Shiozaki. The series is loosely based on the story of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but is set in modern day Japan. The manga began in 2000 and to date has a total of 21 volumes. The first anime adaptation was produced in 2003 by studio J.C. Staff. Since then three more anime series were produced, as well as a special. Additionally, multiple games and a few online radio shows were produced.

Here is a synopsis of the anime from MAL:

Loosely based on the novel ‘Romance of the three kingdoms’, modern day Japan sees a similar struggle for power between different rival schools with the three strongest being; Kyosho Academy led by Sousou Moutoku, Nanyo Academy by Sonsaku Hakufu and Ryuubi Gentoku from Seito High School. Together these three tousei, each with their own mangatama, fight for the honour of becoming ikki tousen and fulfilling their fated destiny through battle and conquest.

Not much is known about the new 2014 Ikkitousen anime. Whether it be a new animated series, film or OVA, more information will be unveiled in the future.

New Kantai Collection: Kan Colle Anime Character Designs & Visual

The recent AnimeJapan event has unveiled some more goodies. This time, its some new images and character designs for the anime adaptation of the highly popular browser game Kantai Collection.

At the event, three new character designs for Kantai Collection: Kan Colle Anime have been unveiled. They are for Fubuki, Akagi and Kaga.

In addition to these new character designs, a new visual was update on the anime’s official website.

Kantai Collection: Kan Colle is an anime adaptation of the popular online, card browser game Kantai Collection. The game launched in April last year and currently has more than 1.7 million players. The game centers around naval card battles, where naval ships are represented by “Fleet Girls”. The battles are automated for the most part, where the main meat of the game being the strategy, card collecting and grinding. The game is very popular, with a slew of merchandising being released after the game’s release; from table top games to manga, and light novels to this anime adaptation. A PlayStation Vita title is currently in production.

More information about the anime will be released in the near future. The anime is set to air this July and will be produced by Diomedea.

Log Horizon Sequel Anime Airs This October

Raise your Databases as season 2 of Mamare Touno’s Log Horizon has been announced. This news was revealed at the end of the 25th episode of the first season of the anime. The second season of the anime will air this Fall/Autumn in October.

Log Horizon is a light novel series created by Mamare Touno in 2010, when Touno submitted the novel on the site Shosetsuka ni Naro. The series was then published by Enterbrain in March 2011, where a total of 7 volumes has been produced since. A bunch of manga adaptations were then issued after the novel’s publication, all of which are written by Touno. An anime adaptation of the novels began in October last year, airing for a total of 25 episodes and covering 5 volumes.

By its eleventh expansion pack, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Elder Tale has become a global success, having a following of millions of players. However, during the release of its twelfth expansion pack: Novasphere Pioneers, thirty thousand Japanese gamers who are all logged on at the time of the update, suddenly find themselves transported inside the game world and donning their in-game avatars. In the midst of the event, a socially awkward gamer called Shiroe along with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki decide to team up so that they may face this world which has now become their reality along with the challenges which lie ahead.

Season 2 of Log Horizon will be airing this October. More information about the second series will be revealed in the upcoming months.

Psycho-Pass season 2 announced and movie due this winter

There has been a lot of great news so far this year. First Sword Art Online 2, Yuruyuri 3, Durarara!! 2 and now It has been revealed that Psycho-Pass will get a second season along with a movie. The second season is due in October 2014 and the movie is due this Winter. The new project is known as ‘Project Re:Start’. Season 1 (new edit version) will be rebroadcasted in July and a second season of the series will follow shortly after, in October 2014.

The movie will be due in Winter.

Kiniro Mosaic Anime Gets Sequel

The popular Official Kiniro Mosaic Anime Website announced last Friday that the second season for Kiniro Mosaic has been green lit and will be soon under production. It was also announced that on May 4th, 2014 that a special live concert would be held. The show will be called Hello Konnichiwa!! and tickets go on sale March 21st. The concert will be located at the Zepp Tokyo venue.

The four panel manga’s story begins with Oomiya Shinobu, a 15-year-old, seemingly pure Japanese girl who actually did a homestay in Great Britain. Even after coming back to Japan, she still misses her time overseas. One day, an airmail letter arrives from Alice, the girl in Shinobu’s host family in Great Britain. The letter reads: Shinobu, I’m coming to Japan! The Japanese/British girls’ mixed comedy follows the lives of Shinobu, Alice, and other girls from both Japan and Great Britain.

Figure Review: Queen of Elf – Ori x Gathering

We’re back once again with our partner figure site to review one of their amazing anime figures. And what a great addition to the family is this completely original character from E2046! Here is Queen of Elf, leader of the Light Elves.

As you can see from the front, she has a wonderful detailed elegant dress which is covered in rubies along with emeralds. You may also notice the shining sapphire on her beautifully crafted necklace as well as the diamonds/ruby in her crown. She also has deer-like horns which emit an awesome chrome effect.

While her golden sleeves looks delicate yet powerful with bulky shoulder sleeve form while you will also notice the soft frills on her lower sleeves softly covering her wrists. Her dress reminds of a ball gown with a large petticoat while its laced with gold trimmings all over the dress’ underlinings, which just makes it even more beautiful. Just look at the details of the shoulder, you can tell a lot of thought went into the cast of this figure.

From the front she seems to be taking a pose that looks like she’s having pity on someone or looking down on them. You can tell something serious is about to go down. While her shoes shows the same designs as her dress with matching gold trimmings and her gold tights accentuates her legs that would direct you to a bit of peek of her deadly thighs. You may also notice the staff, but there is no detail as of yet to if she can cast magic or not. I must say the detail on the staff is quite something.

From behind you can see her fluffy yet frilly skirt in action. Quite a lot of detail has gone into the skirt if you look closely.

Pikachu and 10 other Pokemons Are Japan’s Official Mascots For 2014 World Cup

What a great time to be alive, as Adidas, the official sponsor of the Japanese footbal team, had announced its partnership with Nintendo to feature Pikachu and 10 other Pokemons as Japan’s mascots for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Alongside Pikachu, the other Pokemon are Meowth, the three Kanto starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle), the three Kalos starters (Chespin, Fennekin,Froakie), Pancham, Helioptile, and Litleo.

At the press launch, Pikachu unveiled Japan’s new world kit, and as well sporting it together with the Japanese team.

Nicknamed the Blue Samurai, the national football team made its first appearance in the FIFA World Cup in 1998. The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off June 12th and runs through July 13th.

Durarara!! Season 2 Anime Announced

The second season of Ryohgo Narita’s Durarara!! has been announced. It was made at the recent Dengeki Game Festival 2014, which was held in Akihabara. This new series based on the light novel series of the same name, will adapt the second arc of the light novel series. Accompanying this new announcement, is the promotional video:

The announcement also revealed that the production staff of the anime will be returning, though the animation studio that produced the first season, Brains Base, were not listed. Takahiro Omori will return to direct the series, but is part of studio Shuka. Noboru Takagi will return to write the scripts, Takahiro Kishida is back designing the characters, and soundtrack will be scored by Makoto Yoshimori.

This new anime is part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Durarara!! series, which began as a light novel series in 2004 published by ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko. The original light novels ended in January this year, but the creator of the series Ryohgo Narita, has stated that he will be begin a new series of light novels titled Durarara!! SH, set two years after the original’s conclusion. The first issue will release on April 10th. The light novels received an anime adaptation in 2010 from animation studio Brains Base. In addition, two manga adaptations were also released and a few visual novels. To date the light novels has a total of 13 volumes. and are illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda.

The new Durarara!! season will continue on from the original. It hasn’t been stated to be by Brains Base, so expect more information about the studio in the near future.

Key Visual for 46-Minute TV Anime Special “GJ Club@”

The key visual for the upcoming TV anime special GJ Club@, the sequel of the 12-episode 2013 TV anime adaptation of Shin Araki’s light novel series GJ Club, is revealed today. The art featuring the members of GJ Club in New York is newly illustrated by the anime character designer Miwa Oshioma. The 46-minute TV special about their graduation trip to America is scheduled to be aired in this spring.

The two-disc BD/DVD set containing the TV special and the “GJ-Bu no Ongakusai (GJ Club’s Music Festival)” event will be released on May 14th. The event featuring the main voice actor and actresses (Hiro Shimono, Maaya Uchida, Yume Miyamoto, Suzuko Mimori, Chika Arakawa) was held at Science Museum in Tokyo on May 19th, 2013. The set also comes with a 36-page booklet (including a new novel by Araki), illustrated box by the novel’s original illustrator Aruya, and photo cards.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Crystal 2014 Anime (Finally) Announced

Remember that new Sailor Moon anime that was supposed to come out a few seasons or uh.. a year ago? Neither did I! But now, there is some hope for the Sailor Moon hopefuls.

The production company, Toei Animation, has shown an image on the official website for the new anime titled “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal,” along with a simple plot synopsis. Click here for the image.

Synopsis:

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal is based on the original manga, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, created by Naoko Takeuchi in 1992. While it started as a humble shoujo manga, it soon blossomed into an anime series, a live-action series, and even musical numbers. It was also one of the first anime to be commerically available to the United States market via Toonami/Cartoon Network.

Sailor Moon had it’s 20th Anniversary in 2012, since then it has republished the original manga, the first concert in 12 years, and eventually the new anime, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal.

Trigger to produce “Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de” Anime

An anime adaptation of the light novel series Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de, has been announced. It was revealed in the latest volume, by Kota Nozomi. The anime series has been confirmed that it will be produced by Trigger, known for producing Inferno Cop and the series Kill la Kill.

Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de is a light novel series by Kota Nozomi. The series started in 2012, and to date has 6 volumes released. The illustrations and designs are done by Oniku, also known as 029, who also did the illustrations of the Hataraku Maou-sama! light novels. The light novels are published by SB Creative in their GA Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation by Kousuke Kurose began late last year, being published in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comp Ace magazine.

In the original novel series’ story, the five members of the literature club awakened with extraordinary powers half a year ago. Although the members expected to be thrown into a world of super-powered battles (inō-battle) at their school, their normal daily routine continued. No secret organizations bent on world destruction, no super-powered wars, no braves or demon kings.

However, the members still look forward to the possibilities of adventure, and continued to believe that with each day, they were getting ever closer to those days of fantasy. Their days of romantic comedy and battles with extraordinary powers begin!
