Original Anime Girlish Number Announced – Light Novel Project by Oregairu Author

It has been revealed in the stage event schedule of Dengeki Bunko Spring Festival 2016, which will be held on March 13 in Akihabara, that an original anime project titled Girlish Number has been green-lit. The voice cast of the project will be announced at the event.

Girlish Number was previously revealed in the January 2016 issue of Dengeki G’s magazine as a new light novel project by author Wataru Watari (Oregairu) and illustrator QP:flapper (MM!). A manga series will also be announced in the March 2016 issue of the magazine, which will go on sale on January 30.

Evo 2016 Tournament Line-up Revealed with Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd, and More

The fighting game community continues to pulsate year after year, tournament after tournament. Whether you’re invested in Street Fighter or Smash Bros., there’s an armada of passionate and diverse individuals to befriend and compete against. There’s one tournament, though, that is acclaimed for being the epitome of the FGC: Evolution, or Evo for short.

Evolution will be returning once more in 2016 and event organizer, Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar broadcasted from the Red Bull eSports Studio in Santa Monica, California – with Street Fighter veteran, Mike Ross – to announce this year’s lineup which will comprise of nine games:

Despite an overwhelming amount of support at last year’s Evo, BlazBlue will unfortunately not be returning to grace the masses at the Las Vegas Convention Center instead being replaced by Pokken Tournament. Skepticism on Pokken‘s efficacy on a tournament level have sparked, as a result, due to the odd design choice that player one must use the GamePad in versus mode.

“Pokemon is such a huge brand, we decided to take a chance on Pokken Tournament,” Joey Cuellar noted, speaking with Shoryuken. “Having Bandai Namco work on the game works well, as they are familiar with how fighting games work and balancing, so it should be interesting.”

Nonetheless, it will be nothing short of exciting to see the largest fighting game tournament in the world return to Las Vegas to see thousands of entrants compete to the top. Evo 2016 will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, from July 15th to the 17th. However, Sunday finals – which will include Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – will switch venues over to the Mandalay Bay sports arena.

Just one week after the game’s release in Europe and North America, developer NCSoft shared the news of their massive success. Although the original game launched back in 2012 for Korea and China, which was the same year the game was announced for release in the West.

The heavily detailed character creation will give you the ability to make the character of your dreams, who you will take control of to traverse and explore the lush fantasy land that is Blade & Soul.

The Senior Vice President of Publishing for NcSoft West John Burns says “The sheer enthusiasm – not to mention volume – of North American and European players that have jumped into Blade & Soul since launch has been tremendous.”

No matter where you are in the world, players can expect the game to further improve in the coming months. Along with the one million player milestone NCSoft promised “a regular cadence of content updates and patches” in the future.

The Idolm@ster, one of the most popular rhythm idol games in Japan, announced in 2013 that a new game for Playstation 4 was in the works. Famitsu, a popular japanese video game magazine recently confirmed details of the game and the title in their latest issue. The magazine confirmed in their article that the game was to be called The Idolmaster: Platinum Stars and included an interview with Youzou Sakagami, the producer of the Idolm@ster franchise. While there are not any more leaks at the moment, a live stream including more details on the game is to be held this week on Niconico douga. The game is set to release in Japan in 2016.

Details

  • In contrast to the original Sony and Xbox games, the character models and character’s facial expressions have been remodel to fit the Playstation 4 graphics.
  • The game will feature dynamic cameras during concerts, featuring more intense movement from the audience, including shaking glow sticks.
  • The responsibilities as the producer in the game includes hard and dedicated work, including living  and bonding with the 13 idols at 765 production.
  • The original 765 production idols are included in the newest game visuals.
  • The game training camp allows for the player to watch the idols work while making decisions for them. The “Stage for you” addition allows the player to arrange and customize the stage.
  • Concerts are rhythm game based, allowing the player to rank up as they improve.

  • Since it’s been five years since The Idolmaster 2, The Idolmaster logo has been completely redone. There is the sense of a fresh start.
  • The span of the camera work has been expanded. You’ll be able to see a maximum of 50,000 pen lights in the audience.
  • A technology called “Variable Tune” was developed for this game.
  • The idols have been completely remodeled and have a sense of softness to them.
  • While the personalities of the idols won’t change much from normal, since the producer meets them for the first time at a training camp in this game, not every idol is open-minded. Chihaya Kisaragi, for example, may seem cold at first.
  • This game is set in a world parallel to the series so far. The girls of 765 Production that made their idol debut aren’t very popular. Therefore, president Junjirou Takagi proposes a training camp, and the story begins from there.
  • Development is 60 percent complete.

In the meantime, two new scans have been leaked, including the original 765 idols.

Oku-Sama ga Seito Kaichou! To Receive a Second Anime Season

Oku-Sama ga Seito Kaichou!  (My Wife Is the Student Council President!) is a Japanese manga series by Yumi Nakata. It began serialization in Ichijinsha’s shounen manga magazine Comic Rex from 2011 and has been collected in seven tankobon volumes. The story was initially presented in 2007 as Oku-Sama ga Seito Kaichou, which was published in a single tankobon volume by Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd. in 2007. An anime television series adaptation by Seven premiered in July 2015.

Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:

The story begins with Izumi Hayato running to be student body president. But when a beautiful girl swings in promising the liberalization of love while flinging condoms into the audience, he ends up losing to her and becoming the vice president. At the student council meeting, the newly-elected president invites herself over to Izumi’s house, where she promptly announces she is to become Izumi’s wife thanks to an agreement—facilitated by alcohol—made between their parents when they were only 3.

Abe Tsuyoshi’s Red Costume Revealed for 2nd Live-Action Assassination Classroom Film

The staff of Yusei Matsui’s Shonen Jump hit Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu) second live-action film titled, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu~Sotsugyou-hen~ (Assassination Classroom ~Graduation Edition~), has revealed the costume design for Abe Tsuyoshi’s Red Eye and it looks exactly like the manga.

Assassination Classroom is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui. The series began serialization Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from July 2012 and is licensed in English by Viz Media. The series follows the daily lives of an extremely powerful octopus-like teacher and his students dedicated to the task of assassinating him to prevent Earth from being destroyed. As of March 2015, thirteen tankobon volumes have been released in Japan with a circulation of ten million copies.

A single original video animation adaptation by Brain’s Base based on the series was screened at the Jump Super Anime Tour on October to November 2013. This was followed by a television anime adaptation by Lerche, which began airing on Fuji TV in January 2015. This adaptation has been licensed by Funimation for release in North America. The series was obtained by Madman Entertainment for digital distribution in Australia and New Zealand. A live action film adaptation was released on March 21, 2015.

Aniplex+ began streaming a 15-second commercial for the recently revealed 1/8th scale figure of Shinobu Oshino bathing in donuts on Tuesday. The figure will have a limited release with pre-orders closing on February 14th, 2016. This month the editors behind magazine V Jump released a giant, glossy book called Dragon Ball 30th Anniversary Super History Book. With tons of full-color pages, art and behind-the-scenes information, it seems like a must for fans of Akira Toriyama’s world-famous manga.

Inside of the book, Toriyama expressed his opinion about how his work has been adapted, and said he was not happy about the awful and much-hated Dragon Ball Evolution live-action movie. He also complained about the poor quality of the new Dragon Ball Super TV anime.

Even though I thought Dragon Ball had become a thing of the past for me, I ended up getting upset by the live-action film, helped fix the scripts of the anime films, complained about the quality of the TV series… before I knew it, Dragon Ball came to mean so much to me I just can’t let it be.

This is the story of a team of policemen dedicated to maintaining public order. Some of them work in the Enforcement Division, responsible for the apprehension of criminals, while others belong to the Supervisory Division which oversees their colleagues in Enforcement.

The official website of the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Crystal anime series has revealed a new key visual for the anime’s third season on Monday. The new visual unveils the Outer Senshi characters for the first time.

The anime will have a stage program at the AnimeJapan 2016 event on March 26. The stage program will announce more information on the third season, as well as a new project.

Chiaki Kon (Junjou Romantica, Golden Time) will be taking over for Munehisa Sakai in directing the anime, while Akira Takahashi (Dokidoki! Precure, Suite Precure) will take over for Yukie Sako in creating the character’s designs. Yuji Kobayashi will still be in charge of the script, so we can continue to expect wonderfully constructed writing, brilliantly sewn characters, and the overall great appeal of this favorite arc. Takashi Kurahashi is returning as art director, and Yasuharu Takanashi is returning to compose music for the series. King Records will produce the music, and Toei Animation will continue animation

On Sailor Uranus’ birthday, January 27, Niconico will entertain a live event to announce the cast for the outer Senshi.

The third season will focus on the Death Busters arc. The new season will assemble all 10 Senshi — specifically, the popular outer Senshi such as Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Saturn who will join Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi Moon, and the others to defend Earth from the negaverse. The new season will adapt the arc from the fifth and sixth volumes of Naoko Takeuchi’s original Sailor Moon manga.

Sailor Moon Crystal, known in Japan as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, is a 2014 original net animation series produced in commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the shoujo manga series Sailor Moon. Produced by Toei Animation and directed by Munehisa Sakai, the series was streamed worldwide on Niconico from July 5, 2014 to July 18, 2015, with new episodes being released twice a month. Instead of remaking the 1992–97 anime series preceding it, Toei produced Crystal as a reboot of Sailor Moon and was a more faithful adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga, omitting much of the original material from the first series. The story focuses on Usagi Tsukino, a young girl who is granted the power to become the titular character and is joined by fellow Sailor Guardians in search of Princess Serenity and the Legendary Silver Crystal.

The first episode had an advanced screening on June 30, 2014 to celebrate Usagi’s birthday. The first limited edition Blu-ray box set was released in Japan on October 15, 2014, with the regular Blu-ray and DVD compilations set for release the following month; individual volumes are to be released monthly. In May 2014, Viz Media licensed Crystal for an English-language release in North America, and is simulcasting the series on Neon Alley and Hulu to coincide with the worldwide streaming. Crunchyroll is also simulcasting the series in a separate contract with Toei Animation. Viz also premiered the first episode as part of their “Sailor Moon Day” celebration at the Anime Expo Convention in Los Angeles.

The music for Sailor Moon Crystal is composed by Yasuharu Takanashi. The series uses two pieces of theme music: an opening theme and an ending theme. The opening theme is titled “Moon Pride”. The ending theme is “Gekko”. The opening and ending themes are performed by Momoiro Clover Z.

Mobile Game Seisen Cerberus Receives Anime Adaptation for Spring 2016

It has been announced that social networking and mobile gaming platform GREE will be supervising and producing a television anime adaptation of its Seisen Cerberus mobile game, in partnership with Chinese video streaming platform iQIYI. The anime is titled Seisen Cerberus: Ryuukoku no Fatalités, and it will premiere on TV Tokyo in April to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary.

Further information about the Seisen Cerberus: Ryuukoku no Fatalités TV anime series will be announced at AnimeJapan 2016 at the end of March.

The staff consist of:

Seisen Cerberus Ryuukoku no Fatalites anime visual

GREE released the Seisen Cerberus smartphone card battle role-playing game in 2011. Seijiro Narumi adapted the game into a manga series titled Seisen Cerberus: Mou Hitori no Eiyuu in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in April 2013, and ended it in November of the same year. Kodansha published two compiled book volumes for the series.

Japanese Rock Band Galileo Galilei to Break up after Spring Tour

Japanese rock band Galileo Galilei from Hokkaido, Japan, has revealed on their official website on Monday that the band will break up after their spring tour from March to April.

The band posted the following message on the site:

After the release of our fourth album Sea and The Darkness, and our spring tour starting in March, Galileo Galilei will disband.
Almost 10 years ago, the three of us got together in a small garage in Wakkanai in Hokkaido and started playing music like it was just a game you play with friends. That “game” made us into Galileo Galilei, and brought us this far. Our sudden success caught us off guard, and as we tried to figure out what music we should play, our aimless lives became something with meaning. We grew up in those fantastic years, and before we knew it, our music that we just started playing for kicks became something irreplaceable that we put our life into bettering.

Looking back, the band Galileo Galilei is maybe like the toy carts you rode when you were a kid. But those toy carts could never go beyond the walls of the lawn. We want to follow the rugged concrete road beyond the wall. As we’ve grown, we’ve decided to leave behind the toy cart.

As everyone knows, we’re not so great at communicating with words. We’ve put all our thoughts into our last album, Sea and The Darkness. If we can make anyone feel anything with that album, it’d be great.

Nothing’s been decided after this, but I believe it’ll be good news. We look forward to seeing you at the concerts.

The band will release their fourth and final album, Sea and The Darkness, on Wednesday. The band will go on their “Sea and The Darkness Tour” around Japan from March until April. The tour will consist of 19 concerts.

The three-person rock band formed in Hokkaido in 2007, and made their debut on a major label in February 2010 with the mini album Hamanasu no Hana. They previously contributed to the soundtracks of AnoHana (as well as its live-action TV special adaptation), Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Big Windup! Season 2, and Taifuu no Noruda. Most recently, the band performed the song “Climber” as the Haikyu!! Second Season anime’s ending theme. Band member Yuki Ozaki also contributed to Hamatora’s opening theme song “Flat” by Livetune. Ozaki is also collaborating with guitarist Kotaro Oshio to perform the theme song for the Doukyuusei anime film. The band launched a series of anime shorts in 2010.
