With the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Nakaba Suzuki’s manga The Seven Deadly Sins on the way, the “Chijoha Hatsu Kokai Shingeki no Kyojin Tokubetsu-hen & Nanatsu no Taizai Saishin Tokuho” television program has revealed the Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) x The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai) crossover key visual on Sunday which will be displayed at Shinjuku Station in Japan.
The image inserts The Seven Deadly Sins characters Diana, Meliodas and Hawk into a key visual for the Attack on Titan anime. Instead of the Colossal Titan, Diane peers over the wall. Meliodas and Hawk take Eren’s place in front of the wall. The collaboration developed because Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine serializes both manga, and Yuuki Kaji voices the main characters in both anime adaptations.
A 7.4-meter (about 24-foot) tall version of the key visual crossover image will hang near the east entrance of Shinjuku Station from October 3 to 6. Diane will appear almost life-size in the display. The crossover art will also appear in the November issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on October 9. The issue will include comments from Attack on Titan manga creator Hajime Isayama and The Seven Deadly Sins manga creator Nakaba Suzuki.
The Seven Deadly Sins anime series will debut this October 5 and air throughout the fall 2014 anime season.
The Seven Deadly Sins synopsis from Haruhichan:
The “Seven Deadly Sins,” a group of evil knights who conspired to overthrow the kingdom of Britannia, were said to have been eradicated by the Holy Knights, although some claim that they still live. Ten years later, the Holy Knights have staged a Coup d’état and assassinated the king, becoming the new, tyrannical rulers of the kingdom. Elizabeth, the king’s only daughter, sets out on a journey to find the “Seven Deadly Sins,” and to enlist their help in taking back the kingdom.

All through spring season, I was looking forward to watching Glasslip. P.A Works had just delivered a masterpiece in Nagi no Asukara (which I reviewed) the previous season, so you can probably understand why I was excited to see what Glasslip would be like. Just like how Nagi no Asukara has impressed me so much, I was hoping the same would happen with Glasslip. I did try to keep my hype level to a minimum after learning that Mari Okada would not be doing the script. However, even that could not temper my eventual disappointment over this anime. If I learned anything from this anime, it’s not too expect too much out of the same animation studio. They don’t always deliver great things all the time. Although I should have learned this lesson from Kyoto Animation’s disappointing lineup last year… Anyway, let’s get to Glasslip.
Story:
Touko Fukami’s life is pretty much perfect. She lives a carefree life hanging out with her friends following their own set of rules. One summer day, her life is thrown for a loop when a new boy, Kakeru Okikura, arrives in town. With a new arrival in their circle of friends, and the inherent desire for everyone in the group to begin dating each other, things begin to slowly change in their daily lives.
While this is fine and all, the anime moves at a pace that is much too slow even for a slice of life. It’s typical in slice of life anime to have a slow paced story, or none at all, but they usually augment the story with either humour or fun characters to help you get through the slower parts and to make it fun for you to watch. Glasslip had neither of them. There were a couple of times at the beginning when they put in a few jokes and it was slightly amusing, but they decided not to continue on that path. The romance part of this anime was, I suppose, treated a little more realistically than most other romance anime. However, it’s the awkward transition from friends to lovers, so at times it was hard to distinguish if they were just close friends or if they actually did think of each other as more than just friends. Partway in, they throw in supernatural elements into the anime which helped spice up the stale story, and in the end I was more intrigued by that part then anything else in the story. Still, in the end, even this new element couldn’t save the anime. Nothing really came out of the supernatural part of the anime. To add insult to injury, the ending felt rushed, even though the rest of the anime was really slow. How do you even manage to do that?
In addition, none of what happens in the story matters if I don’t care about the characters. In addition to Touko Fukami and Kakeru Okikura, there are four other main characters. Yanagi, Yukinari, Sachi, and Hiro. However, Glasslip gave me zero reasons to care about any of these characters. Why should I care if two characters don’t work out romantically with each other? Why should I care what happens to Touko when she suddenly inherits this supernatural ability to see the future? Why should I care about anything in this anime? There’s no backstory to these characters aside from Kakeru, no real development of these characters, they do things to each other that will just make you not like them, etc. In the end, the character I liked best was a supporting character, Touko’s younger sister Hina, and that was only because she was the nicest character out of them all and that was a good enough reason to like her. By the time they actually did start to focus more on developing the characters and making them more likable, it was the last episode. That’s far too late to reverse the damage that has already been done.
Visuals and Animation:
If I have one really good thing to say about Glasslip, it’s its art. A lot of Glasslip‘s backgrounds could be considered works of art. The lighting, the shadows, the characters, and the overall backgrounds are drawn with a high level of detail. I think other anime studios can learn a thing or two from P.A Works on how to make a great looking anime. If P.A Works can keep up this kind of work, their anime could be one of the better looking ones in the industry. I really can’t say enough to praise Glasslip on its art. It’s easily one of the best looking anime I’ve seen.
The animation of the anime is pretty good, but not quite on par with Nagi no Asukara. I kind of figured the same amount of animation detail that was put into Nagi no Asukara could have also been put in here, especially with this anime being shorter. Regardless, the anime still looks fantastic.
Sound and Music:
I mentioned in my Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun review that many slice of life anime don’t have great soundtracks. Glasslip is a happy exception to this. There are a lot of points in the anime where there is no dialogue at all. You are often shown shots of the town or the sea. It’s during these parts when you get bored and start listening to the music. It’s a really good soundtrack. It’s definitely better than most other slice of life anime. The piano is probably my second favourite instrument after the guitar and the piano is one of Glasslip’s primary instruments of choice. The soundtrack compliments the artstyle, as well as the scenes it’s placed in. The opening 「夏の日と君の声」(Natsu no Hi to Kimi no Koe) by ChouCho is a very fitting song for the anime. It’s a beautiful song that fits the tone the anime projects. I could listen to that song all day. The ending 「透明な世界」 (Toumei na Sekai) by nano.RIPE is a personal dislike for me, only because I don’t like nano.RIPE’s singing. On the plus side, I did like this song better than other nano.RIPE songs I’ve heard.
Final Verdict:
I really wanted to like this anime; I really did. It has beautiful art, and a soundtrack that exceeds most other slice of life anime. However, with characters that are as dull and unlikable as a pebble, and a snail-paced story that is rendered completely pointless if you watch it to the end, Glasslip has lowered the bar when it comes to storytelling. The aesthetics can’t hold up an anime on its own. Glasslip is an anime with far more style than substance.
+ Gorgeous art
+ Great soundtrack
– Extremely slow-paced story
– Bad characters
– Boring to watch
– Terrible ending
If you did stick with Glasslip until the end, what did you think of it? Is your opinion of it similar or different than mine? Let me know in the comments!

A brand new super hero epic that will electrify your soul!! Yuuki Yamato has modeled his young life after the super heroes he loves. When his best friend Haruna is teased by bullies, he always tries to defend her — but his life is not a comic book, and things never work out as planned. One day, after yet another failure, Haruna tells Yamato that she is moving away. She asks him to come and see her off, but Yamato — his pride still wounded — cannot find the courage to face her. When Yamato is feeling his lowest, an old man appears before him. He is known as the Memory Collector, and he will grant one wish in exchange for a memory. Yamato makes his wish: to become Dengeki Stryker, his favorite comic book hero.
Years later, an army of cyborgs from the Balbora Empire appear in the city where Haruna now lives. With the police and the army powerless against the Empire’s mechanical might, it falls to a single hero to stop them — a hero who looks remarkably like Dengeki Stryker!
I have yet to play this game, but I have heard that you cannot tell the difference between the all ages version or the adult rated version. Will you be getting this game?

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso synopsis from Haruhichan:
Piano prodigy Arima Kosei dominated the competition and all child musicians knew his name. But after his mother, who was also his instructor, passed away, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a recital that resulted in him no longer being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing was perfectly fine. Even two years later, Kosei hasn’t touched the piano and views the world in monotone, and without any flair or color. He was content at living out his life with his good friends Tsubaki and Watari until, one day, a girl changed everything. Miyazono Kaori is a pretty, free spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her personality. Kaori helps Kosei return to the music world and show that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to.

Kicking off this Fall season as one of the earlier shows to begin airing, Terra Formars managed to catch the attention of quite a few, as both fans of the manga as well as those unfamiliar with it look forward to seeing if it’s worth following. A sci-fi anime where humans fight giant cockroaches on Mars? Well, you can’t blame people for being at least a little interested! The premise may sound ridiculous but the tone of the anime is quite dark – this of course would come as no surprise to fans of the manga. Let’s take a look at this bug swarmed anime and see if it should be left to thrive or crushed under our feet!
Set centuries in the future, Terra Formars details the story of a band of operatives who go from Earth to Mars to battle the threat of oversized cockroaches. Yes, it sounds ridiculous. But with a little suspension of disbelief this may yet be an interesting anime!
The show certainly relies on darkness in its animation. Most of it looks very drab and dull. This is most likely to set the tone though, and should not be thought of as a detriment. Noise filters and pitch black backgrounds during closeups give it an eerie feel. One that is complimented by its equally creepy soundtrack. It doesn’t help that the art style isn’t exactly your typical moe fix either – the character models are sharply drawn and aren’t the most colorful.
One can expect a visually bleak experience for sure. Once again however, it should be reiterated that this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as this may be exactly what the creators were going for – and if creating a dark atmosphere was the intention, they got the job done.
As one can see, the designs and art style tries to stay faithful to the source. The visuals resemble classic anime from the 90s more than currently airing shows but some prefer this style and actually miss it – for those, Terra Formars may even be a refreshing look at a style less used today. Coupled with modern CGI the sci-fi aspect is handled well, as scenes involving advanced technology look nice without coming across as tacky or ridiculous as a result of using far too many colors and filters. It’s a very sober experience – one that immerses you deeper into this dark future world.
Urban or technologically advanced landscapes may not be very prevalent however, as the anime takes place on Mars for the most part. While the first episode simply introduces characters and offers a glimpse at a backstory, eventually the scene is shifted to Mars – where the rest of the show will presumably take place. That isn’t to say it’ll be boring though! In this future world Mars is teeming with giant cockroaches for humans to kill and plenty of action can be expected in later episodes.
With a catchy opening theme and interesting premise, this show might be one to follow. Censorship will be at play in this show unfortunately but if one can look past that, the action seems promising as well. The atmosphere is rather dull and the show is visually reminiscent of classic sci-fi anime but if you fall under the niche audience membership who would enjoys such a thing, this is one anime worth following this Fall. To watch it, make sure to check out our download link for Terra Formars!

As the previous season ends, most of us are getting ready for a whole new ride of twists and feels for this Fall season. With the visuals, previews and release dates being announced; and so are the official hashtags.
These hashtags are really useful for viewers, especially because they are official. We could look up a certain show using its hashtag and you can see different posts regarding to the latest episodes, news or events from different people. You could also reduce the amount of spoilers if you “mute” the hashtag using Tweetdeck or other Twitter platform. (Here is a guide on how to mute a hashtag.) The more users use the hashtag, the more collaborative the posts regarding to that anime will have, and the lesser spoilers will come through your Twitter feed.
Here is a list of the official anime hashtags from long-running shows, Summer leftovers and this Fall season (in alphabetical order):

Several shows don’t have an official hashtag, it is preferable to create your own hashtag pertaining to the anime that you are going to talk about. It is much better if you simply use the title of the show without adding symbols. (E.g.: For Naruto: Shippuuden, you can just use #narutoshippuuden).
There are actually more than 60 airing shows and most of them are sequels (and there are several shows that aren’t included in this list). As the last season of the year, it gave us a bunch of interesting new shows and sequels to enjoy. How about you, which Fall shows are you going to watch?
A supporting character from the upcoming Fall anime, Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete, changed voice actors. Akio Ohtsuka (Fate/Zero‘s Rider, Hunter x Hunter 2011‘s Uvogin) took over Masashi Hirose’s (Gundam Build Fighters’ Ramba Ral) role as Sakunoshin Honjou. The cause of Ohtsuka’s take over is because of Hirose’s long-term hospitalization.
The cast of the anime will still remain as follows:
Terashima Takuma as Akiyama Sou (Log Horizon‘s Shiroe, Blood Lad‘s Wolf)
Tomonaga Akane as Furukawa Yui (Diabolik Lovers‘ Cordelia)
Tamiyasu Tomoe as Hanamiya Nagisa (Little Busters!‘ Natsume Rin)
Mizusawa Kei as Hasekura Airi (Walkure Romanze‘s Celia Aintree)
Takada Hatsumi as Sasaki Kaori (Maria Holic‘s Tsutsui Honoka)

Grisaia no Kajitsu is an anime adaptation based off of the 2011 Japanese visual novel by Front Wing of the same name. The novel features character designs from Akio Watanabe and Fumio (Tomoyo After ~It’s a Wonderful Life~), scenarios written by Nachi Kio, Ryuta Fujisaki, Yoshigazu Kuwashima, and Kazuya, with Elements Garden (Mouretsu Pirates) composing the music. The visual novel won the 2011 Moe Game Awards grand prize, as well as various other awards for its scenario and music. Two sequels followed the release of the original, in 2012 and in 2013. The first novel was ported to the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita last year. Additionally, a manga adaptation began serialization last February.
It follows the story of Yuuji Kazami, a boy with a dark past and a dark demeanor. He enters Mihama Academy trying to become something that he is not. Mihama Academy is a prison-like school, with only five other students. Yuuji is informed that every other student has their own “circumstances” and he need not do anything to interfere or change anyone else. However, Yuuji will soon prove to be the foothold that the other students needed in order to take hold of their own lives and overcome their pasts.
Grisaia no Kajitsu synopsis from Haruhichan:
Mihama Academy—on the surface, a closed learning environment established to nurture students who find themselves at odds with the world around them; in actuality, an orchard-cum-prison built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree.
Whatever the circumstances behind its establishment, Mihama Academy is at present home to five female students, all with their own reasons for “enrollment.” For better or worse, each girl has established a routine obliging of her current situation; life moves at an idle, yet accommodating pace within the walls of Mihama.
Yet with the arrival of the institute’s first male student, the nearly preposterously opaque Kazami Yuuji, the students at Mihama begin to fall out of step with their predetermined rhythms. Will Yuuji prove to be the element the girls around him needed to take hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome?
And in the first place, just who is Kazami Yuuji? While the true nature of the “job” he is wont to alight to at the most haphazard of moments remains shrouded in secrecy, one thing is for certain—his encroachment upon the quiet orchard known as Mihama Academy will prove itself momentous in one way or another. And of course, one cannot discount the possibility that perhaps Yuuji himself carries the weightiest past of any of the students…
Grisaia no Kajitsu will be airing October 2014 on Tokyo MX.

As of this post nothing has been officially announced on what will happen to his works, or if he will lose his position for tracing other people’s artwork. It hasn’t been confirmed if he’s asked the artists if he could use their works.

Bandai Namco Games have revealed at the 2014 Tokyo Game Show that the next major Dragon Ball fighting game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, will be coming to PC via Steam. In addition to this, the publisher has released a slew of new screenshots and gameplay videos.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse will be out on PC outside of Japan, where it will only be released on consoles. This marks the first Dragon Ball game coming to Steam, and the second on PC – after the MMO Dragon Ball Online. The announcement of the PC version comes after recent Japanese publishers’ foray into the PC market, with such titles like Naruto Shippuden Ninja Storm Revolution, Metal Gear Rising Revengence, and the recently announced PC port of Final Fantasy XIII.
The game itself will be developed by Dimps, who produced the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai series for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, and Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit for the PlayStation 3. The game will feature a full 3D fighting and destructible environments similar to recent titles in the franchise. One major new feature of the game is that it has an original story and a new player created custom character. The game involves time travel where a bunch of demons, named Mira and Towa (from Dragon Ball Online) have affected the timeline of the series. The Supreme Kai of Time notices this problem and calls the aid of a new mysterious character from the future, you.
The game is initially set in Tokitoki City where players will be able to meet a different version of Trunks, where he will send the player back in time in order to fix the time distortions created by the demonic pair. Here is where the player can create their own character, a similar premise to Dragon Ball Online. Players can choose the race of their character from Earthling, Namekian, Majin and Frieza. Bandai Namco has released some new screenshots of the customisable races from the game, as well as some visuals of the default custom character – with red hair.
You will be able to further customise your character with edits and changes to your character’s clothes, hair and style:
And here are some of the customisable characters in action, with a look at the new Trunks:
Some screenshots of the new characters and new environments, including the Supreme Kai of Time’s planet and the Time Storage Vault, were also released:
The main story of the game will be titled History is Changing, where you as the playable character must go back in time to key moments in the series to fix up all the problems.
Here are some visuals of the major characters in the game, including TokiToki a mysterious creature raised by the Supreme Kai of Time:
And of course, Bandai Namco have released lots of screenshots of the gameplay of Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
And Bandai Namco has also released a couple new trailers and gameplay videos for Dragon Ball Xenoverse at TGS 2014:
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is the upcoming instalment in Dragon Ball’s long running franchise of games. It will be developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Games. It will be Dimps’ 11th game in the franchise, with their last game being Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit for the PlayStation 3. Over 50 games have been developed based on Akira Toriyama’s top selling manga of the same name, since 1986 – two years after the manga’s debut. The series even spawned a MMO titled Dragon Ball Heroes which released for the PC.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse will be coming out the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and on PC – via Steam – sometime next year. Further information on the game will release soon.
So what do you think about the game coming to Steam? And how does the customisable character sound to you? Leave a comment below.
