Thoughts on Bleach Live Action Adaptation

52

As many of you may have heard, early this year a live action adaptation of popular manga and anime Bleach was announced. The rights were bought by Warner Bros and it will be written by Dan Mazeau, the screenwriter for Wrath of the Titans. It will be produced, and possibly directed by Peter Segal who worked on films such as Get Smart and Longest Yard. Not a lot of information is given on the project, apart from this and that it will be filmed in Japan – not even a release date. But to be quite frank, I’m not looking forward to this at all.

New Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Project in 2013

1

The official twitter of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni anime has just tweeted that a new anime project is currently under way, but being called a ‘relaunch’. On top of that, at the recent 10th Anniversary event for the series, the anime will air in spring 2013. There has been no mention of what the new project will air as- either a new series, OVA or film have not been confirmed.

Japan Is Now Selling Striped Panties That Smell Like Little Sisters (NSFW)

4

Ah Japan, the home of anime, manga, giant robots fighting other giant monsters, the first sex pillow and now the first panties that smell like little Sisters. Gotta hand it to Japan for making some weird products over the pass…forever.

Japan loves endorsements and merchandising. Japan also loves its anime. It also likes people who like anime, in particular the popular genre of Imoutos or Little Sisters. It may come as a surprise- or not to some people- that Tamatoys, a Japanese adult goods company, has produced the first ever set of  ‘Striped panties that smell like little sister’. Oh, and you’re gonna love this, Tamatoys also produced something just as peculiar: ‘The Smell of a Boy’s Anus’. Yep, some fine quality products coming from Japan.

1

Ho ho ho! We are glad to announce we now have a Christmas theme for Haruhichan! As you can see below it’s quite cold and Haruhi is in the festive mood, wearing a Santa hat and a beard (I hope she’s wearing it and it isn’t an actual beard!).

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Demo Out Now On PSN

0

JRPG fans will be pleased to know that the demo for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is out now on Playstation Network, according to SiliconEra.com! Co-developed by Studio Ghibli and Level-5, this demo is sure to give players a good feel for the game, and it’s unique fantasy setting. Studio Ghibli, as many of you may know is the animation studio behind critically acclaimed masterpieces such as Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle. Lending a hand to do the soundtrack is composer Joe Hisaishi, who composed the score for both aforementioned films. The animation style of the game is heavily reminiscent of other Ghibli productions, such as Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro. Make sure to check out the demo soon if you own a Playstation 3! Expected release date for the game is 22nd January, 2013.

Tamako Market

1

Here’s one show to look out for: Tamako Market. Brought to you by my favorite; Kyoto Animation. As you can see above, the animation style is very reminiscent of K-ON! This can lead us to believe Tamako Market will be another light hearted comedy aimed at all ages. It also somewhat reminds me of Kokoro Connect, which although an excellent show in it’s own right, is not by the same production company, so we can’t make assumptions based on that. However, this is just personal speculation as very little information is given as yet. Here’s a preview to give you a little taste! It is expected to release sometime in 2013. Expect updates on this! Here’s the official site.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

1

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Also known simply as Chu-2 for short is the latest show by Kyoto Animation studio. The studio behind several of our favorite shows such as Full Metal Panic, Clannad, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-ON!, and many more. What starts out as a light hearted comedy much in the same league as K-ON! or Lucky Star slowly shows to have a deeper, underlying storyline.

Currently airing, and most recently having released 9 out of 12 total episodes. In addition to this, there is a parallel OVA series running called Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai Lite! in which short episodes under 10 minutes long working as fillers are shown, not progressing the storyline but providing some fun little situations with the characters. If you like comedy/drama high school anime, definitely check this one out! For those of you who follow it, tell us what you think of it so far in the comments!

A Preview from Comic Con: Ni No Kuni by Game Muse

0

Studio Ghibli is normally known for using it’s artistic style for anime movies, such as Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, but when it was announced that they were turning their attention to games with the help of Level 5, a lot of heads were turned. At the MCM Expo (26th-28th October) Game Muse took a proper look at their new game Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

The Melancholy of Doji Morita

Doji Morita(森田 童子) is a Psychedelic-Folk singer-songwriter born in 1952, her musical career went from 1975 to 1983 when she gave her last live concert at Shinjuku, Tokyo.

She released a total of 8 albums and in 1993 and 2003 had “Best Collections” released to accompany the TV drama 高校教師 (and its remake) that featured her song, ぼくたちの失敗 (Our Mistake) as the OP.

A First Glance @ From the New World

2

Greetings. I’m Pants. I’ll be reviewing anime for Haruhichan starting today – with Shin Sekai Yori, also known as From the New World. Yoroshiku, etc. ( •ิ_•ิ)ノ

From The New World is an anime brought to us by A-1 Pictures based off a novel (a real novel at that) by Yusuke Kishi. Set in Japan a thousand years into the future, it tells a tale of five friends who attend a school for having telekinetic powers. Unbeknownst to them, there is a dark history about the world today they soon become caught up in.

NYC Showing of Madoka Magica Part 1 and 2 is On Sale!

2

Instead of going to the website listed on the Madoka Magica USA website, please click on this link! I’m really excited. I’m glad I went to the theater a couple of weeks ago to ask them if they’re selling early. She told me that they would probably be selling on MovieTickets.com first over their actual website or in person there. Neat!

Looks like I’ll be able to see her after all!

So what was Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita about, anyway?

1

As I wrote in my earlier article on Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita (now to be referred to as Jinrui), “I could write much more on this show, and I probably will when it finishes airing”. Little did I know then what I was getting myself into, as this won’t be easy.

To be frank, I initially believed I had the show figured out. It was a juicy parody of modern anime and manga, coupled nicely with a critique of contemporary culture and topped off with some delicious self referencing humor.  Then the three final episodes came, and my satirical parody began to pose some difficult universal moral questions, and hell, it even answered some.

Looks can be deceiving.

Living in the virtual world…

4

Sword Art Online is an anime that’s about a guy who gets stuck in an virtual reality MMORPG. At least that’s where the anime is in terms of Sword Art Online’s light novels. However, I don’t really wish to speak of Sword Art Online so much, but of the virtual world of Aincrad. This is what currently fascinates me about Sword Art Online. I kind of love the idea of being stuck in a virtual world.

Maybe then I’ll finally get laid. Glop. Glop. Glop.

Gaijins: Destroying the anime industry

14

I post on various internet forums related to anime and I tend to bitch about a lot of things. Yes. I am a huge faggot.
That aside, there’s one issue that is commonly debated heavily and never fails to completely piss me off: The anime industry.

“What the hell does he mean by that?” is something you might ask, well, let me tell you. Often, a subject comes up for debate – Why aren’t the western markets actually buying anime? It’s something I feel like posting about, so listen here you nerds.

Halfway There: My Mid-season Thoughts

5

While I doubt anyone was particularly hyped for Summer 2012, save maybe some Yuri Yuri fans, it has turned out to be full of unexpected surprises. Several shows I barely gave a chance have turned out to be amazing. I’ll talk about my thoughts on what I have been following, and hopefully get some suggestions on anything I’m missing out on.
