Persona 5 New Opening Animation 2 Persona 5 New Opening Animation

Atlus’ acclaimed Persona series’ sequel, Persona 5, is coming to PS4 and PS3 in Japan on September 15, 2016 (to PS4 in North/South America on February 14, 2017). In preparation for its release, Atlus held a live event on NicoNico and revealed a bunch of footage, including a new opening animation for the game, which included the new characters that have been revealed since the last animation, such as the navigator of the group, Futaba Sakura, student council president Makoto Niijima, “Beauty Thief” Haru Okumura, and Yusuke Kitagawa.

Persona 5 takes place in Tokyo, Japan. The still unnamed protagonist is a 16-year-old high school transfer student in Syujin High School. The previous installments in the series all had their own themes, for Persona 5 the theme is “heist.” The protagonist and his friends created a group named “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” whose goal is to reform distorted adults by stealing a certain “treasure” in a place called The Palace that represents the target’s mind. There are also themes of oppression and suppression from adult/authority figures. The primary color for Persona 5 is Red, while 3 was blue and 4 was yellow.

As you can see from the opening animation, the central figures for the game production remains largely the same with the previous entries; Katsura Hoshino is directing the game, with character design from Shigenori Soejima, and music composition from Shoji Meguro, who also composed for other Persona titles.

Also shown on the NicoNico stream were 18-minutes worth of early gameplay, a preview for the special TV anime tie-in, and more!

Pokemon Go Safety Campaign Started by Japanese Government 5

An information poster was made by a Japanese government cyber security organization detailing the dangers players face when exploring the world of Pokemon Go, anticipating its eventual release in its home country.

The National Center of Invident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) posted the “Message for Pokemon Trainers♪” on their official Twitter and LINE accounts on July 20. We want our future Pokemon trainers to stay safe.

Pokemon Go Safety Campaign Started by Japanese Government

The nine-point safety plan details the things we need to look out for once the citizens of Japan begin playing.

They are as follows:

Pokemon Go Safety Campaign Started by Japanese Government 2

Protect your personal information

You should use a nickname instead of your real name. “Let’s not take photos near our house and post them on social media.”

Be careful of fake apps and cheat tools

These can render you susceptible to hackers or viruses.

You should definitely download a weather app

The weather can take a turn for the worst, so be aware and check the weather forecast for the day.

Pokemon Go Safety Campaign Started by Japanese Government 3

Be careful of heat stroke

Japan is a very hot and humid country where heatstroke has gotten serious in recent years.

Carry a portable battery for your phone

Pokemon Go will use up a lot of your phone battery so bringing a backup is essential to your Pokemon journey. (There’s also a battery saver mode in the app itself).

Be prepared so you can contact your family

If your phone does run out of battery, have a phone card ready so you can reach your family on a public phone in case of emergency.

Pokemon Go Safety Campaign Started by Japanese Government 4

Don’t enter dangerous areas

While we know how tempting a Pikachu can be, the NISC notes that in countries where the game has already been released, a number of incidents have occurred where people were injured in areas they shouldn’t attempt to catch Pokemon.

Be careful of people who say they want to meet you

This is related to the previous entry, warning future players to stay safe and wary. There have already been Pokemon Go players mugged.

Do not walk while using your phone

Stay aware of your environment and be safe out there, trainers!

Pokemon Go has taken over the world yet people in Japan are still awaiting its official release!

Gintama Live Action Film Adaptation Announced for 2017

7

It has been revealed in a recent issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine that a live action film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga is in production for a 2017 release.

Gintama-Live-Action-Film-Adaptation-Announcement

Some of the first details about the upcoming movie have been revealed. Japanese actor Shun Oguri (Takiya Genji from Crows Zero, Arsene Lupin III in Live Action Lupin III) will be taking the leading role as Gintoki Sakata. Yuichi Fukuda (Barairo no Buko, Hentai Kamen: The Abnormal Crisis) will be directing and planning the scripts for the 2017 film.

New Gintama Series Slated for April 2015 haruhichan.com Gintama new season

Gintama, is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi and serialized, beginning on December 8, 2003, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Set in Edo which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto, the plot follows life from the point of view of samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura in order to pay the monthly rent. Sorachi added the science fiction setting to develop characters to his liking after his editor suggested doing a historical series.

The series has been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) by Sunrise and was featured at Jump Festa 2006 Anime Tour in 2005. This was followed by a full anime series titled Gintama that premiered in 2006 and continued until 2010. After a small hiatus, Gintama returned under the name Gintama (2011) and aired until March 26, 2012 with a total of 51 episodes. After another small hiatus, Gintama returned under the name Gintama’ Enchousen with a total of 13 episodes which aired from October 4, 2012 to March 28th, 2013. It also inspired two movies, Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen and Gintama: Kanketsu-hen – Yorozuya yo Eien Nare. Weekly Shonen Jump’s 33rd issue had teased that the manga is celebrating over a decade of serialization with “OOO” (an unrevealed term that can be spelled with three Japanese syllables).

In Japan, the Gintama manga has been popular, selling over 46 million copies. The anime and its DVDs have been featured, at various time, in Top Ten of their respective media, while TV Tokyo has announced that the firstGintamaanime was responsible for high sales overseas along with the anime adaptation from Naruto. Publications for manga, anime and others have commented on the Gintama manga. Positive response have focused on the comedy and characters from the series, while negative responses concern the manga’s artwork.

Gintama synopsis from Haruhichan:

Life isn’t easy in feudal Japan… especially since the aliens landed and conquered everything! Oh sure, the new health care is great, but the public ban on the use of swords has left a lot of defeated samurai with a difficult decision to make concerning their future career paths! This is especially true if, as in the case of Gintoki Sakata, they’re not particularly inclined towards holding a day job, which is why Gintoki’s opted for the freelance route, taking any job that’s offered to him as long as the financial remuneration sounds right. Unfortunately, in a brave new world filled with stray bug-eyed monsters, upwardly mobile Yakuza and overly ambitious E.T. entrepreneurs, those jobs usually don’t pay as well as they should for the pain, suffering and indignities endured!

Pokemon Go Reportedly Helping People with Depression

Pokemon Go Unexpectedly Helps People Suffering From Depression 2

Since Pokemon Go released, its been dominating our lives. We’ve been able to walk around, collect Pokemon, meet new people, discover things about our hometowns we never knew before.

As it turns out, there may be unexpected benefits for people suffering from mental health conditions.

Psychologist John M. Grohol reports on PsychCentral, players are taking to social media to report an unexpected improvement in their depression and anxiety as a result of playing the game.

With more people using Pokemon Go than Tinder (and soon to overtake Twitter) it appears that Pokemon Go is motivating users to get up and out of the house, something that is an every day struggle to those suffering from depression or anxiety.

Here are just a few of the hundreds of tweets raving about the game:

https://twitter.com/gleefullyhello/status/752314346852589569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

https://twitter.com/uglycatlady/status/752199426735804421?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

With the app out for only a week, scientists haven’t been able to study the link between Pokemon Go and relieving the symptoms of these mental conditions, so we can’t say for sure what effects the app is having.

Grohol thinks that the benefit comes from encouraging people to get up and get moving – something that study after study has shown is beneficial for mental health.

The problem is that research has also shown that it’s incredible challenging to motivate people with mental health conditions to exercise.

“For a person suffering from depression or another mood disorder, the idea of exercise can be nearly impossible to contemplate, much less do,” writes Grohol.“For someone suffering from social anxiety, the idea of going outside and possibly bumping into others that may want to talk to you is daunting.”

However, the power of Pokemon comes into play, helping people to get out and explore their neighborhood to find and capture Pokemon, meet people who are interested in the same things as you, which rewards them for leaving the house without forcing social interaction, which can often be a trigger to people suffering from mental illnesses.

“I think this is a wonderful demonstration of the unintentional but beneficial consequences of gaming and producing a game that encourages healthy exercise,” says Grohol on PsychCentral.

https://twitter.com/AllanTries/status/752190502091403264?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

“Hundreds of app developers have tried to develop mood-altering apps by encouraging people to track their mood or with encouraging affirmations. But these apps rarely catch on, and few people continue using them past the first week,” Grohol adds.

“The developers behind Pokemon Go didn’t mean to create a mental health gaming app. But they’ve done so, and the effects seem to be largely positive.”

The fact that different types of Pokemon can be found near trees or water could also be helping, with recent studies showing that just 30 minutes of exposure to nature a week can benefit people’s mental health – something that the Japanese call “nature bathing”.

https://twitter.com/amyxplier/status/752266024062480386?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

The benefits of Pokemon Go are astounding. So, get up, grab the app, and go catch ’em all!

Here is the preview video for the second season that was revealed at the conclusion of the second compilation anime film:

The second season of the anime was first revealed at the premiere of the Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow (Shingeki no Kyojin Movie 1: Guren no Yumiya) compilation film last November. The premiere also revealed the release date for the second compilation film, Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom (Shingeki no Kyojin Movie 2: Jiyuu no Tsubasa) which aired in Japanese theatres on June 27th this year.

The Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) series was created by Hajime Isayama. It started off as a manga in 2009 and is published in Kodansha’s monthly Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. To date there has been 14 compiled volumes of the manga. A prequel light novel adaptation started in 2011, and two spin-off manga started serialization in 2012: Shingeki no Kyojin: Before the Fall and Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou. In April 2013 the series was picked up for an anime adaptation. The anime series was produced by the newly formed Wit Studios. The series has grown in popularity since the anime’s debut, with the manga selling over 36 million copies as of April this year. Two live action film adaptations will be releasing in Japan this year. The first images for the live-action 2015 Attack on Titan film were also earlier released.

Here is a synopsis of the anime from Haruhichan:

Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a colossal titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.

The manga had resumed in April after a painful two year hiatus since 2014’s combined 37th and 38th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in August. Togashi originally planned to only take a two week hiatus for his lower back pain, but extended it until April 2016.
